@Lisa
What should be wrong with the Winutilities weblink? It´s a normal link that links to a normal webpage with free reginfos for Winutilities. I guess you are running such a strange security software (site advisor) that warns about almost every website that has banners and google ads. How should a simple link attack your computer??

Click: Start,Control Panel,System, Advanced System Settings. Now,in he Performance area, click on Settings, then click Data Execution Prevention, and click Add…, here in the resulting small window find PremiumBooster (in the program files). Highlight it and click Open. Click PremiumBooster again, then click Open. Click Apply at the bottom and then click OK. You are done. Now double click the PB icon on your desktop, and the program should open for you.

I read your reviews and the purported uses of ths program. First of all I think you should follow any impulses carefully when you run any third party registry tweakers for the safety of your system and back-up your computers files and registry using Microsoft's recommendations before using them.

In any case I once loved to use programs to experiment with them and so would go for it: I was willing to do a reinstall whenever I made a big boo-boo; What is the issue here; if the program is safe or not or if it is an asset to the user?

I suggest (that) sfc/ scannow ( the Microsoft system file checker)and Microsoft's error checker to be sufficient to "speed" up your computer

Here is a link to a good resource for knowing more about registry and other aspects of your operating system.

CAREFUL! I downloaded the last version of this software from GOTD and it really messed up my computer. It changed the registry, messes with other similar software (in my case, WinUtilities), and makes your computer slow.

When uninstalling the previous version, their own uninstaller left 16 items behind in my registry and 168 orphaned files on my HD according to Revo Uninstall.

#9 Nickalf, if you installed correctly, the opening window doesn't have the "This is the trial version; you have 31 days to use this program". If that doesn't show, you have to full version.

Giveaway of the day is so popular, I just want to warn users that the links provided for promotional software at dottech are FAKE WEBPAGE REQUESTS and your computer will be attacked. This is the second time with 2 different promotions, the first time was the ashampoo 10 burning studio and the second time was just now with the link to WinUtilities pro.

I remember this one well - it sucks. Last time I tried to make a registry backup using PB, my system crashed and crazy sounds emanated before I had to turn it off.

Another registry cleaner!! These things, generally, do more harm than good. If you've been running your computer for more than a couple of years then you should back up your data and reinstall the OS. That's the best, and safest, registry cleaning you can do!

I installed Premium Booster quickly and easily on Windows XP and (after manually setting a System Restore point and backing up my registry!) launched the program and tried out its various features. I'm quite pleased with it. The Quick Scan found a number of broken and corrupted registry keys which both CCleaner and Glary Utilities had failed to pick up, and which I was confident did need fixing. I also defragmented my registry. These steps produced a small but perceptible improvement in my bootup speed. I have additionally set some of the suggested system optimisations and will be interested to see whether they have any noticeable effect.

The only aspect of this program which I don't like at all is the lack of configurability of the so-called Smart Scan (which is basically the Quick Scan plus a search for broken shortcuts). It takes a year and a day to scan your machine, and then without pausing, another year and a day to "search for solutions" and "analyse the results". There should be an option to manually select folders to be scanned, not just drives. There should be an intermediate step for the user to review the list of broken shortcuts found, and decide which ones need fixing. There should also be an option for the user to accept or reject the "solutions" which are found. The only options are to either repair or not repair, and then to selectively undo the repairs afterwards - which is the only point at which you're informed of what the program has actually done! I ended up undoing nearly all of the fixes. The solutions which the program found were predictably rubbish, and the shortcut deletions were unwanted, as I find it more useful to have a broken shortcut (which reminds me that a manual fix is required) than no shortcut at all.

I understand that the developers' intention is to offer a wizard-style program that fixes problems with a few clicks and no special skills required, but when it comes to fixing shortcuts that the user has manually created, which have broken because files or folders have been moved, the chances that any program can figure out the correct solution is remote. All I want in this particular regard is to be told which shortcuts are broken.

I also thought it was really strange that the Smart Scan (Broken Shortcuts search) found some broken registry keys and values as well as file and folder links. Why weren't these registry problems picked up by the Quick Scan? In the end, the registry fixes were the only ones I accepted from the Smart Scan. I think it would be far more convenient for most users to separate out this functionality.

But anyway, that's just one aspect of the program. I'll avoid the Smart Scan from here onwards. Otherwise, the program seems to work well, and it's a keeper. Thanks to GOTD and Elcor.

I'm still using version 2.95 given away 12-20-08 and I can't remember why I did not upgrade to version 3.0 given away Aug 20, 2009. Version 3.0 on an older pc but I guess my question is this: Do I need to uninstall this older version before installing a newer one?

{ 4th attempt to post comment due to Bad Gateway errors AGAIN }

Downloaded - fine
ran Activate then Setup as instructed - fine ( which is usually the other way round )
Ran Programme - runs fine .... but no License Code: showing. (should there be?)

Looks to be a nice programme and, yes, nice logo images too.. :)

Even though the backup files are not self-executing, it is nothing to be considered as bad because how many alternative programs are there that do the opposite? The bubble popup whenever the window is minimized provides good visual feedback as it keeps the user informed about what’s going on. The quick start default is convenient because the assumption here is the user doesn’t always have the luxury of time, it’s a more logical approach, more user friendly doing it that way. A person doesn’t need to be computer tech to use this program. And the existing selective repair undo feature, is a smart way of ensuring that the user always has control over an activity that could easily lead to a catastrophic crash.

You Need Surf No Further For The Truth Of The Matter:

When all is said and done, for anyone interested in a maintenance utility, a person could easily do a lot more damage to their PC with some other alternative to today’s GOTD.

@ #6 (DAN) -- click the about link in the program---if it shows a long product key under "single computer license" then you're fine

Program installed fine on Windows 7 home Premium, however the register link is stil showing and if I click on it there is an empty registration key box there, so I don't know if it is registered or not.
Yes I ran the activation before the setup as the instructions told me and I ran both as an administrator.

Ran the "tour' . Quite a nice interface. Has some good features, except Registry Backup Files are not self-executing.
I havent made up my mind for a rating as yet.. maybe after i give it a trial run. But its seems ok.

I used this in the past and it did a pretty good job, but I have Windows 7 now and it just doesn't need any more tweaking. :P

These guys definately have a great graphic for their program. : )

I would recommend this product. It worked quite well when I did use it on Vista and XP.

The Good
* Straightforward and fairly easy to use.
* Has full registry management (scan, repair, defrag, backup).
* You can undo the 'repair' or 'fixes' you make.
* Ability to apply tweaks to Windows.
* Has preemptive protection against malicious ActiveX malware.
* There is a startup program manager.
* Has 1-click registry optimization.

The Bad
* Registry backup files are not self-executing (you must have the program to restore your registry).
* Annoying bubble popup every time the program window is minimized - no way to turn it off.
* You can't turn off "Quick Start".
* I would prefer a formal automatic registry backup before making registry repairs rather than the existing selective repair undo feature.

Free Alternatives
WinUtilities Professional Edition
WinOptimizer 2010 Advanced
CCleaner
