We often generate 5-8 meg Word documents. E-mailing drafts back and forth can rapidly fill a mailbox to capacity.
Similarly, we present at conferences with picture-laden PPTs. When people request copies, many businesses place size limits on attachments and some individuals still are on dial-up connections so we don't want to send huge files. This software will continue to have a niche.

Good program.

Disappointed that its a 3 month trial, but for those who state that the program is redundant in a world of 500GB/1TB hard drives, have you ever tried sending PPT's or word doc's by email when they are >10MB in size, containing loads of graphics/pictures?

This is a great tool. I'll wait til its next available on GAOTD to get my next 3 month license...

For all those who've been around awhile -
It's time like these where we really miss BuBBY and his ability to authoritatively inform both us and the Mods that this software is only trial, and a mistake.

Are you still around BuBBy?

And to appreciate all the other giveaways that are excellent, especially lately!

Not a bad product, disappointed with the limit. I'm sure you thought twice about it, and will so in the future. Thanks anyways GAOTD.

Oh dear. What a mess this 4 months time-limited restriction farce is.

It looks like this software vendor has just shot themselves in their feet. I'm fairly certain they did not tell GAOTD team they were putting this additional restriction. Because there is no provision in the terms for the software developers that would allow the developer to add such a clause, while still letting the developer benefit from the GAOTD scheme.

On http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/for-developers/ it reads,
'Basically, our visitors will be able to download the software product for free, under specific Terms and Conditions, which limit the software usage to non-commercial only, and may also limit software updates and technical support. .... 'First and foremost, you have an absolute guarantee that you will be paid for your software, even when the software is distributed within a special Giveaway of the day offer. Our company will pay you for your software, thus protecting you from software piracy.'

As you see here, only restictions the developer can impose are "personal use only"; "no update"; and "no tech support". By sneaking in this additional restriction, Balesio effectively broke the contract; therefore GOATD has now no obligation to pay them for the download. (Yes, the venders are normally supposed to receive payment for the software offered here. Just not by us, but by GAOTD.)

Big Thumbs' Down: First - This dinosaur won't take any more space out of a .PPT 2000-3 file than PPT's own "pack and go" and "reduce file size" utilities, and that wasted space has been all but eliminated in the new .pptx format (PowerPoint 2007), as well as the other new Office 07 formats so there's nothing to compress without massive loss of quality. NoNeeDat.

Two - even though it's free, so is IzArc (http://www.izarc.org), which is an open-source WinZip replacement that'll do all this and a lot more - reliably and it's free forever (unless you want to donate, which you should if you use it...). Sorry moron gallery - couldn't get the HTML to work correctly for the IzArc link - you'll have to copy/paste the URL if you want it. Can you handle that?

Finally - 3 mo timeout and still have to give U an email address ? C'mon developer... get real. You're lucky people will use this giveaway to come to your site and look at your other stuff - this product is outdated and unnecessary, past the end of its lifespan. I don't blame GOTD because the developer decides the terms... but who's gonna give it up for this dud ? Nobody I hope. Not me. CU all 2mR0

On one hand, if your company or school play is not open for business yet, 3 months is a good amount of time to get free use. On the other hand, PowerPoint should (doesn't it?) compress its own presentations for distribution fine, and of course OpenOffice does a good job of making small files of it. Failure to communicate what it solves best.
