Click: Start,Control Panel,System, Advanced system settings-here (in the Performance area)click Settings , now click Data Execution Prevention, click Add..., now find PPTminimizer in your program files, highlight it and click Open, now in the resulting window click PPT again, then click Open, now click Apply at the bottom of the small window, click OK. You are done. Now double click the PPT icon on your desktop, and the program should open for you.

Developing a program targeted for MS Office users is actually not that bad of a thing. There are more people using Microsoft office programs than any other office type alternatives. The developer is simply trying to capture a piece of that action, which even if tiny can generate a substantial income.

Only in this case today’s GOTD is anything but bogus because shrinking the size of Word & PowerPoint programs is a good thing. It makes it easier to attach an email without worrying as much about those emails being rejected and bounced back because the email became too large (size wise) for a server to send. I’ve personally had that happen on more than one occasion and would have to spend more time to split the email, which isn’t very much fun to do if you think about it. Plus there’s a greater potential of leaving the person you sent the email to, an unfavorable impression. And that’s not a good thing in a highly competitive marketplace or for someone looking for a job.

Thanks anyway, I see that someone else's code wouldn't have worked. Gmail saw the response as spam. I used a different address and got the registration code in 30 seconds. It's a good program. It reduced a 56 MB PPT to 4.6 MB at medium (default) compression, and the quality of the pictures looked as good as the original. Thanks, GotD!
