I use Advanced URL Catalog to organize my bookmarks. This bookmark manager has a very neat gui and works perfectly with vista.

to get i working on vista just change the compatibility settings.

Steps on how to change the compatibility settings:
Right click on the shortcut,
click on compatability,
then click run this program for: windows xp service pack 2.

or something like that for any program that isnt built for vista.

Here's a suggestion of how I set up without having to use this.

Foxmark in Firefox. IE7Pro in IE. Opera Link in Opera. Then I set up a scheduled task to automatically run and synchronize them all using Bookmark Bridge.

Since Bookmark Bridge does not support Firefox 3 yet, I also install an alpha version of Foxmark for IE. So now I have fully synchronized bookmarks in all 3 browsers on 3 computers (home, office, notebook) and I can also access them online at Foxmark, IE7Pro, and Opera Link.

Waiting for a new Bookmark Bridge that supports Firefox 3... Combined with Foxmark, that's just powerful.

I uploaded a new version on my web site. The download url is here.

It added the feature to run with Vista and fixed some bugs. The issue for #52 should be fixed in this version too.

I've tested importing the bookmarks for FF2. There should be no problem. Importing the bookmarks for FF3 is still under developing. It will not take too long.

Thanks for all of your comments. Please feel free to email me at desksware##gmail.com if you have any questions or suggestions.

Don't listen to the naysayers here.

This is an EXCELLENT piece of software.

This is simply a recoding and rewrite of the now abandoned software Powermarks. Powermarks had a huge hard core following as the best bookmark manager because it works as a database rather than an unwieldy listing of links or hierarchical systems.

Considering that you can directly import from Powermarks into this software shows that they knew what they were doing.

Best way to use this software is to setup the hotkeys properly. For example, whenever I want to bookmark a page I use Ctrl+Alt+A and it brings up the dialog to bookmark the page, pull the keywords and add keywords of my choosing.

I've got over 4000 bookmarks in this program and I can find exactly what I need in SECONDS.

#62 Glad to see the developer here, which is exactly why I posted #52 here.

Can you advise what the problem might be?

If you have as little as 100 bookmarks or if you are only making an ad hoc list, my tip would be to keep that list as a notepad file.

Then use a freeware notepad replacement like GetDiz or Notepad Light which offer the possibility to launch urls directly from the page. Impossible to make it simpler than that.

GetDiz is ingeniously simple and has the same author as the very powerful Linkman from Outertech. I run Linkman's latest version on Vista and encounter no problems.

However, I use Linkman mainly for maintenance of large databases. For ease of use I prefer Bookmark Buddy that I mentioned earlier. Both these bookmarking solutions have been around for years. Personally, I find it worth while to pay $25 for a solution that lasts some time.

To #69 gpc111

Hey gpc, to get on in this life you have to do your study. Read Mark #62's comment that Delicious is an optional offering.
