Digiarty Support Team, Does the purchased version still insert "WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe" as an artist tag on every file? I like the product but hesitate to spend money on it if I'm still going to have to edit the tags on every file.

This is a good product BUT it constantly phones home....I have it installed on a standalone workstation that I don't want connected to the internet. Every time I launch it I get a reminder that it is a GoTD product (I know that - that's why I installed it) and then I get a reminder it needs to check the license status. If I don' t connect it to the internet at least once a week, it goes back to being a trial version and is unusable. So, if I paid for it will it do the same thing? I have a reason for having a machine not connected to the internet - why does it have to phone home all the time??? I will NOT buy this product simply for that reason.

I have downloaded and installed the program on my laptop (Windows 10, Creator’s Update). Video file conversion seems to function OK, but video downloading from e.g. Youtube is not possible. After pressing “Analyze” the program seems to get stuck and I have to kill the program from the Task Manager in order to use the laptop. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Dabluzman, in the past, you had to uninstall your current version of this program before installing the new version. That's what I did, and I had no problem installing 5.10.

Purchased WinX a few weeks ago because it is the fastest MKV to MP4 converter on the market. I had already purchased HD Video Converter from Wonderfox but the conversion speeds in that software were nowhere near as fast.

Real word test in converting a 20GB Bluray Movie:
HD Video Converter: 6 hrs
WinX HD: 15 minutes

To get the fastest speed in converting MKV to MP4, make sure to check nVidia and UNCHECK Intel. Checking both slows down the conversion speed. I like to enable Use High-Quality Engine as that does not seem to make a difference in conversion speeds.

Keep up the great work!

Ray, I have an Intel Desktop. .Not nVidia. Do you know if my Computer is as fast as nVidia's?

Hello,

Nice product but two questions to the team :

1) I don't find H.265 (HVC) wrapped in MP4 but just the MKW choice. Can i change that ?

2) I use TinyWall like firewall. So i give rights to WinX_HD_Video_Converter_Deluxe.exe. But no way to capture video from web if i don't unlock my firewall. Is there somehere a other exe file to authorise ? Don't find it in WinX_HD_Video_Converter_Deluxe directory.

Thanks a lot and best regards.

Col

Installed without a problem, but when i tried the TRIM feature, i was not able to actually trim the video at all, which is disappointing and there is no walkthrough in help which in itself is lacking and hasn't enough real help for someone like me that has no idea on how to edit videos in the first place. Guess i wont be buying the lifetime upgrade option.

Reply   |   Comment by Pete  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+6)

Pete, Trim worked for me. Add the first video, click Edit, select the Trim tab, click Enable box, use the pointers on either end of the time line to select how much you want to keep in blue on the time line, click the Done button. Then, repeat the process beginning with the 'Add the video' step above to trim another segment. After clicking the Done button, you see another segment added to your main menu. At any time you can click the Merge box on the main menu and it will arrange the segments into one project of hierarchical segments, and the converted video segments will result in one output file.

Rick, Thanks for your reply.
I've repeatedly done this step without success "Add the first video, click Edit, select the Trim tab, click Enable box, use the pointers on either end of the time line to select how much you want to keep in blue on the time line, click the Done button."
Without repeating the process because i just want to save the very end of a video.

Installation with no problem and it worked fine on my Windows 10 computer. I just tried to clone my old DVD to ISO image on my pc. It did a good job - the copy took 25 mins in total and watched without quality loss, much faster than some software I used before. Anyway, thanks GOTD!

One more in a crowded field that does not handle .ISO files, either to or from. Never mind

warpwiz,

"One more in a crowded field that does not handle .ISO files"

There's really no need for ISOs nowadays, unless you're after a bootable optical disc. Burning apps like the free ImgBurn handle files/folders just fine, as do player apps. If I remember correctly, several years ago you needed a DVD in ISO form to be able to play it in PowerDVD, but that hasn't been true for years. If you've got an ISO, the free DVDFab Virtual Drive works fine, mounting the ISO so you can access the individual files/folders -- if you're running Windows 10 it'll mount them on its own, no need for any added software.

Happy to get it updated to the latest one. Compared with the previous version, v5.10.0 has a different register system, right? Love this licensed copy very much. Just feel like I am invited into your candy shop… Believe this will be a big update in your new version. Anyway, thanks for the giveaway.

Keith Hamm, I have found that when you unzip these files, if there is a Setup.gcd file included in the set / turn-off your Internet Protection (for me - its AVG) first - then do the Setup.exe install - The program should then install on your computer / after Activating-Registration of the program - turn your Internet Protection back on

My project is combining a variety of HD videos and recording them to DVD. We'll see if this is anything I can use in that process.

Keith Hamm,

"My project is combining a variety of HD videos and recording them to DVD. We'll see if this is anything I can use in that process."

If your final is less than HD rez, & if you're mixing the video clips together, combine & edit them while they're HD -- reencoding will lose some quality [regardless what you use to do it], so it makes sense to edit & reencode while you've got some quality to spare [HD].

If your final is Blu-ray on DVD, a stand-alone Blu-ray player [vs. a software player] might require special encoding settings. You can still use the same x264 that's built into ffmpeg, but you'll have to follow the special x264 Blu-ray compatible guidelines, which AFAIK require the command line interface.

If your final is a regular video DVD, WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe can work, but I'd recommend a better mpg2 encoder than the one that's bundled into ffmpeg [which is what most all of these converters use].

I tried downloading it several times.

sudch12, I had the same problem. After the message about corruption the installer then tells me installation is complete and gives the weblink to get hold of the activation code. What I did was to then go to the WinX website and download the trial version of this software which installed correctly. Then open the programme and use the link from the GOTD installer to get a working activation code. Use the e-mail you used to get the link to the GOTD download and input the activation code and it will be accepted

I have used this program for a year or two now and find it quite usable for me. I liked it so much that I bought it for a good price and have the lifetime version. I use it at least 2 or three times a week for my tablet and my phone. Great program. I have Windows 10 64bit. I just updated a day or two ago and it seems to work faster. Not much but is noticeable.

I just quickly tried this to see if it offers any speed improvement over the very complete, perfectly free Handbrake, and particularly since Handbrake doesn´t support my AMD gpu, and does not fully utilize my 4 cores/8 threads CPU.

And my initial test shows:

1) Fewer options than Handbrake.
2) No support for AMD either.
3) Even worse, my CPU is hovering around 15%, when Handbrake hovers around 50%, which is making the encoding time not only much longer, but ridiculously long.

As of right now, I don´t see the point in using this software at all.

Cheers.

andario,

"... my CPU is hovering around 15%, when Handbrake hovers around 50%, which is making the encoding time not only much longer, but ridiculously long."

Try turning off GPU assist -- you'll get better quality too, though it might not be noticeable at smaller frame sizes. It's not the WinX converter, but the ffmpeg most converters use. If you want to use your AMD GPU to get max speed encoding, try A's Video Converter [videohelp[.]com].

Reply   |   Comment by mike  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+6)

mike, I did try to disable both nVidia and/or Intel options in two different encodes, with the same exact results: my CPU hovers around 15%, no matter what I check.

And thanks a lot for the advice about that converter, I´ll make sure I check it out. In any event, I´m perfectly happy with Handbrake and its quality, and I´m not neccesarily searching for GPU encoding, just something that fully utlizes my CPU, which is something that Handbrake refuses to do, for whatever reason.

Cheers!

Reply   |   Comment by andario  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

TK, yes, it says 8 cores in there, so I don´t think having less cores is going to help you that much. As a matter of fact, I just found I get very different results depending on the preset I pick, and how I tweak it. With one of the default presets, my CPU hovers around 40%, which is much better, but still worse than Handbrake. And that is not the preset/quality I wanted, anyway, so I don´t see much future with this...

An older (giveaway) version of this is my converter of choice. Speed is reasonable, usability is OK. But honestly, I don't know if it's better or worse than other converters. I'm using it as it is and I'm satisfied.

Ran the setup .exe with no problem and registration is very easy. Loaded a 426mb MKV by drag-n-drop and chose MP4 as output. It worked pretty fast on Windows 10x64 while remaining quality. The video downloading has a wide-range selections of online video sites, formats and resolutions. All in all a real versatile video converter and the video conversion is my most-like function. Thx GOTD and WinX for your gift. You are awesome!!

I actually quite like this as a simple video converter. Also somewhat unusually it isn't just a front-end for FFMPEG.
What it does offer includes 4k/UHD support and lots of presets for different devices, plus the option to brew your own.
To convert video, open the file and choose the general output type you want (e.g. AVC video, although you can change it later) and you can then customise it by clicking the wheel icon once you're back to the main interface. I do find the limited ability to over-ride the bit-rate a bit annoying, but I guess most people would be happy with the way it works.
Also note you need to play (/+pause) the video preview before you can seek in it, which isn't intuitive.

Reply   |   Comment by JohnL  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+7)

JohnL,

"... includes 4k/UHD support..."

Quick PSA... Test using Short clip(s) 1st, as UHD is Very Much still evolving. One type of UHD in ffmpeg may require Intel Kaby Lake [or I assume newer] for GPU assist. Not all video input may be compatible, & output may or may not display as UHD depending on the TV/monitor. Web browsers generally, & player software to a lesser extent, do not support all possible UHD formats.

Downloaded, unzipped and upgraded my previous v5.9.6 successfully. The program did a good job by converting a batch of my DVD rips before. The output quality is above par and commendably keeps original. FWIW, I will continue using it in my lappy.
