10 HOURS ago I looked in to BUY MSTech Folder Icon PRO (and possibly MSTech Image Resize too) because during the GOTD 24hour period I was unable to make a purchase [ I was in hospital - incredibly painful kidney stones ]

TO MY SURPRISE any trace of the company at the GOTD Publisher's MSTech 3x Product Home-pages ... had GONE Vanished puff of smoke. Being an inveterate web user since 1993 I tried a number of things AND a few minutes ago a BLANK WEB-PAGE with a dodgy looking SUPPORT e-MAiL Address ending in ".co.uk" website has appeared.

IN FACT this UK SUPPORT link looks VERY SUSPiCIOUS indeed - think some PHiSHing going on. If it is in fact Genuine you'd think the company could come up with something less suspicious.

SO I suppose that means any chance of using the $4.99 discount codes has gone out the window and probably any chance of buying the program at all.

Their site is gone and they updated their software licensing feature. I purchased this and got the new stuff, would have rather had the old stuff since the program will not register with the new lic file that you have to double click to install. I can not contact them via email because the site is gone and the mail comes back undelivered. I guess it was a waste of $5.00 for this and $2.99 for their Image Resize Basic.

I started using MSTech software with MSTech Image Resize, I downloaded the basic version. I couldn't install the software. I contact them, I never expect them to reply my email and despite the fact that the Giveaway version doesn't include support, they replied soon and helped me remotely how to install and use the software. I purchased the lifetime license and I purchased Folder Icon and it works as they claim. I like it and I'm looking forward for their next software.

Is this program the same as MZ Folder Icon made by MazuWare?

If you use the "Download New Packs From" link, you go to http://mstech-co.com/folder-icon-packs/ There, the link to download any of the packs point to the same file. To make things worse, the domain name is missing a h. mstec-co.com instead of mstech-co.com If you try to correct it, you will get a 404. The Folder Icon Packs page claims that it showing 1 to 4 of 4 entries. However, there are 5 entries.

Right clicking on a folder shows the MSTech FolderIcon v19 context icon. However, no submenu shows up.

You can go to the Properties of a folder, click on the Customize tab, select Folder icons at the bottom and go to C:\Program Files (x86)\MSTech (Modern Software Technology)\MSTech Folder Icon Basic\Icons Then you will find the icl files that you need.

Windows 10 with the Creators Update.

The Purchase attempt ends up at a page that requires a PayPal account, which I do not have, nor want. Do you not have another way to take advantage of the offer?

I downloaded Folder Icon and installed same. By FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS the program was easily activated and seems to do what the
MSTech team claims. Has all the earmarks of a handy little utility. A real keeper.

Before I start downloading - can the program install anywhere or it is necessary to boot C: \?

It's a bit strang, After Reading some dark negative comments about activation method, I became curious to try it LOL, I downloaded and installed the software. I requested for the license key but the site was not responding, so as they said I sent an empty email to sale@mstech-co.com, surprizingly they replied and sent me the license key within minutes. I just double clicked on the license key and after that the software was activated easily.
I tried the software it works well, I can say its a good software.

I installed the software. It was a process, but I got it to work. The issue I am having is the 'Context Menu'. I can see it in the context menu, but it does not open from there. I sent an email to 'sale@mstech-co.com' and waiting for a response. If anyone from the GOTD family got ant suggestions post a reply.

Hi. The right click option in the context menu doesn't work,it doesn't open any further options. Any help please?

wow mstech,nfg.Not these guys at this site never had a promblem till now,I put blame on MS-TECH.Huge pain activating-an uninstalling messed up my start men..dont wast ur time with MS-TECH.But DAILY GIVE AWAY site is still the BEST in my book. THANKS anyways,guys

I think it's GREAT! that GOTD offers these programs, but practically every GOTD offering has issues with their various activation rituals. SOMEONE at GOTD should be testing these BEFORE they are published to this page on the day they are released.
As for this one, I barely understand why anyone would want or need to change folder icons, but the activation nonsense is enough to utilize my 10 foot pole function.

Given the problems I see in the comments I will not be picking this up today.
Please consider running this promotion again when you have ironed out the kinks.

I experienced that on MSTech last giveaway, and was completely satisfied.

There is a bug in the Add Pack function.
Several free icon packs are available which you must download and unzip. You then click Add Pack in the program to install the new icon pack. However, by default the program tries to install the new pack to a folder called Icon - which does not exist in the program folder. The library folder is actually called Icons (with an s).
To install any new packs, I first had to create a folder called Icon in the program folder at:
C:\Program Files (x86)\MSTech (Modern Software Technology)\MSTech Folder Icon Basic
so the path to the new pack installation folder is now:
C:\Program Files (x86)\MSTech (Modern Software Technology)\MSTech Folder Icon Basic\Icon
Once you Add Pack, the new packs will be in that folder but you then need to cut and paste them to the ACTUAL library folder at:
C:\Program Files (x86)\MSTech (Modern Software Technology)\MSTech Folder Icon Basic\Icons
You can add as many new packs as you like by this method - BUT....
After doing this, they will STILL not appear in the program Icon list until you then click Add Pack AGAIN and repeat an addition. ALL the added packs will then show up in the list.
The developer needs to fix this by making the Add Pack function in the program point to the Icons folder (with an s) instead of the non existent Icon folder (without the s)

I was able to download, activate and change some icons. I decided to use the 80% discount offer on the pro version. The discount code applied properly, but when I try to checkout I get an error message:

"Error: You must enable a payment gateway to use Easy Digital Downloads"

Tried in three browsers (Chrome, Firefox and (ugh) Internet Explorer. Same thing every time.

To MSTECH : Saying "sorry, contact out support team" ain't gonna cut it anymore...!, I would strongly suggest, you pull this crap out of here and go back to your drawing board...! This is a sorry half azz cooked piece of software anyone's ever seen...! How dare you even try and mingle with the big boys...!

If you have downloaded Image Resize from MSTech two days ago, you won't be able to retrieve this license with the same email address. You have to use another one. I had the same problem like Don Schilling and resolved it on this way.
However MSTech has make it really difficult with this terrible procedure. If they want to make this promotion with GotD why to make it so complicated to get the license?

Because i like supporting a lot of the givaways here, instead of downloading the giveaway i decided to just
buy the Pro version with the 80% discount. I downloaded the program and installed it and proceeded to
request the license by filling in the Activation request that pops up when the program loads. To my dismay,
i find that the form asks for a serial number before you can send the request. I have no idea what or where
that is.

I sent a support email and have not received a reply from some hours ago.
I then sent a blank email to the sales area as stated in one of the earlier posts and once again, have not
received a reply.

This is not the way to gain customer satisfaction declarations to be posted by a purchaser. It cannot be
that hard to reply to emails from potential customers surely. I have been an admin and support person
for a few different sites and replied almost immediately to requests for help in using those services.

Get your act together and reply to those emails that have requested your help from MSTech. You will only
lose customers support on future things they see of yours.

Been waiting on a License for 30 minutes, guess I will uninstall and never try to get anything else from this company.

Link to get licence key doesn't work. Frustrating. Would have paid for pro version but the link to that didn't work either. They really should test their links before offering to the public. Now deinstalling and forgetting what sounded a nice little piece of software.

Ive tried the prog - its baffling. I downloaded one or two icon packs and the program refuses to "see" them. Uninstalled.

The weirdest Licensing system I have ever seen. Requesting a License key for Image Resize given away a couple of days ago here, gave me a zip file for Folder Icon with a file name GiveAwayLicense.fi_license , which is not an acceptable License file for any of their programs. Requesting a License file for today's giveaway gave me the same zip file which is not acceptable by their program. Emailing sale@mstech-co.com or support@mstech-co.com brings no result as they do not reply. With so many problems getting something that is given out even for free, will create a strong negative impact on Company's image and people will keep away from it.

I installed and activated the software. In the Help file it tells me that I can right-click on the actual folder Icon and then select an Icon from the MZ Folder Icon file. When I try to do this, the MZ Folder Icon (actually called MSTech Folder Icon) list doesn't display an Icon to choose from, even though I previously select 12 Icons for my Shell file.
After an hour of trying to figure out how to make this work, I gave up and uninstalled the SW. My conclusion, useless or too complicated.

when I try to activate I get a "unhandled exception has occured in your application" error.

I still don't have the license key from 6-24-2017 MSTech Image Resize giveaway, even though I paid for it.

Like a few others I had problems getting the licence, but finally managed to register. Really wish I hadn't bothered, once installed and registered it doesn't actually do anything, not a single icon changed and after rebooting the software simply refused to run. You guessed it ... Uninstalled!

Note to GOTD: We appreciate what you are trying to do here but there never seems to be a day goes by when there are issues with the software being offered, maybe changing the elastic bands might help.

Getting the licence and installing it are a bit unconventional. Go to the website in the "readme" file. Enter an email address and name, and do the security thing (in my case it was "enter any two digits". I put in 33). Then a box opens with a click-to-download button. The zip file that downloads should be opened and put in a safe place (eg desktop)

After installing the main program you need to take the "I have a licence" option in activation routine, and steer it to the licence file you stored on the desktop.

A bit fiddly but it works. You end up registered with the forename "Giveaway" and surname "Of the Day" - so I don't know why they ask for your real name!

Installed ok, but when trying to activate, there was no "Lic.''......lic" file "in the software as readme said to use. If no way found t actually activate before g/a expires, will surely delete.

Website is down, I cannot get any licence after send request form. Please fix this!

Adding the pro version to cart results in the basic version being added.
