Does anyone know whether this is a lifetime license or not?

I'm asking because it has an 'offer' section at the top of the program window offering a Lifetime License + Free Litetime Updates that can be purchased at a 90% discount!

So is this a Lifetime License... only WITHOUT the free updates or what?

I clicked on the "send me an e-mail with the link" option, got the e-mail, clicked on the link, and downloaded the zip file. However, the file was empty (length of zero). I tried twice more with the same effect. I'd really like to try this program. Any suggestions? - Thanks.

Why bother offering this giveaway when there's freeware like ImgBurn, AnyBurn, etc. that perform the same tasks?

thanks but I don't even use discs anymore now that even USB drives are cheaper to use than even dvd's

There's a BIG difference between burning a DVD and authoring a DVD. It's not clear here, nor on the software's website, if EZBurner can do that latter.
In fact, on the website -- this is laughable -- the tutorial on creating a video disc shows how to copy a bunch of video files to a DVD disc. That is NOT how one creates a DVD movie!

I'm unable to install the program. get the same messaage others are getting i.e.

"cannot connect to the server...the installer will now abort''

Tried everything including installing on other computers in the house, but all get the same message. I'm not using a VPN, just my plain old Virgin Media provider.

Can EZBurner do anything that the excellent and totally free (even for commercial use) AnyBurn cannot?

YD Stuff,

While I can't vouch for how good it does, EZBurner can encode files for video DVD, & likely video Blu-ray [I say likely because they only have a screenshot of the app's DVD tab]. Other than that, some may prefer one GUI over another. If you use a separate encoder [like I do] you might prefer the free ImgBurn over both EZBurner & AnyBurn.

David Wellman, What I do I press Ctrl and F then in the find box I type 'license'. This shows all the details with regards to the licenses with any of the GAOTD softwares

Lightmuncher, Are you referring to the End User Agreement that appears during the Program EZBurner Setup when first Installing it?

That is an old-fashioned program that is no longer sastifactory in view of the quality of DVD and other things, but is much worse than blu-ray, but blu-ray will also die!

Franz, All who think streaming is the only way to go are in for a RUDE awakening.

Gilbert L Jones, Totally agree with you Gilbert. You just have to see what has happened to digital downloads from hundreds of companies that no longer exist, so the software bought from them can no longer be installed once you upgrade your system. Personally I've lost hundreds of program that included DRM from vendors that disappeared. I'm sure most cloud based companies will not survive, then where are your precious programs, and that's not even considering the hacker issues.

FWIW...
DVDs are still perhaps the best, least expensive way to store files locally long-term, with the only disadvantage being the limits of ~4 - 8 GB per disc. While the video DVDs you can buy today are purposely of lower quality as DRM, very good quality video in DVD format can be very watchable on screens up to 1080. There's also Blu-ray on DVD, which is actually part of the spec.

The Blu-ray discs you burn can have questionable longevity, so probably not the best solution for long time storage, while video Blu-rays are plagued by heavy DRM. Video streaming however cannot match the quality of video Blu-ray discs, because you can't squeeze their high bit rate through the Internet's pipes. While Blu-ray isn't as popular today as DVDs & streaming, DVD video doesn't look great on a 4k display, and the companies offering streaming services are under financial pressure -- they're more likely to fold than Hollywood stopping Blu-ray production & sales.

Far as old software goes, one solution is VMs [Virtual Machines]. In-place upgrades are another... software I've had since win7 was in beta carried over fine when I upgraded that copy of win7 to win10. You can also migrate a copy of Windows from one PC to another, though that works much better with win10. That copy of win7 that started out as a beta was used on 3 or 4 PCs, and after being upgraded to win10 has been on 2 so far.

Giz Of Oz, are you using a proxy or VPN? The activation is server-based, it seems, it needs a normal online connection.

Vance, Thanks for your reply and help on this. Not using a proxy or VPN - just connected to the internet through Telstra (Australia) using their wi-fi dongle. Never had this problem before but I will keep on trying and see what comes of it. Side note: I have no problems connecting to other sites that I visit - all good on that front.

Giz Of Oz, I'm also getting the damn message. HELP! I even turned off my firewall and still no go.
