Thank you developer AbstractCurves for a fun and wonderful software.
I had a blast creating very cool designs by sheer accident while learning how.
Again, thank you.

IT's ANOTHER HOMERUN FOR THE GOTD staff!
After an extended slump of offering low-quality software, GOTD has delivered a string of first-rate software titles.
Go, GOTD, GO ... and thank you too.

EscapeMotions has a somewhat comparable software called FlamePainter ... for around $60.

I am an artist, and a book author. Thank you Giveaway of the day for another fun artist tool. I love to fool around with these.

Installed and runs fine, Windows 7/64. Looks like I did get the full version (stand-alone only). If you get the trial, try going back to the readme to see if there's something you missed.

I have no experience with this kind of program (though I do have experience with design and photography) and I produced a couple of striking designs in short order, say ~30 minutes, using the templates and playing with the various controls. There's also a *lot* to learn if you want to get into it but it should be easy enough to start for newbies if you have a little patience. Don't be intimidated by the complex, technical-looking controls - just play with them. The help file appears to be quite thorough. There are lots of templates (100 or more at a guess) and each one is almost infinitely variable.

I don't like the dark design (light grey text on dark grey background doesn't make sense to me) and can't find a way to change it. Very hard to read, but it's a little better in full screen mode.

Bottom line - it's a keeper for me. Thanks GOTD and Abstract Curves.

You can spend many hours creating stunning abstract designs and although it was fun at the time I don't think it is something I use very often, but I'll keep it installed and play with it another time. Bit different from the usual software we normally get here.

where do I find it in Plug In as it's not shown in my Effect - Plug in list. I installed as plug in.

luckyv, I assume your talking about Photoshop? It should be under Filter in the menu bar.

Thomas Black, I use Corel Paintshop Pro. Only place I could think of would have been in Effect and finding it there but it's not there.

I must have missed the previous versions. No problem with the activation. This looks like it will be fun.

Didn't start messing around trying to learn graphic until the last year so didn't pick this up when offered before. Messed around with this and I really like it. Perfect for someone like me who really hasn't much artistic/drawing talent. Looks like I have a lot of learning to do as with the other progs I picked up here, but I love all these types of programs. Perhaps I won't have to rely so much on others to make my avatars for me in the future. Thank you very much!

Richard Farina,

as mentioned in readme:

Unzip the package you've downloaded and install the software by running Setup.exe,
then run the activation program Activate.exe which is included in the package to register your copy.

Please make sure you've closed the program before running Activate.exe.

This is a stunningly designed product that simplifies the extremely complex process of creating vector patterns, allowing the user to craft VERY professional output.

I have this from the Giveaway a couple of years ago. It has the same version number. Any chance it's a teeny bit more recent?

It's quite fun although I haven't used it much on an ongoing basis. You can make some very nice backgrounds.

However it isn't high-DPI friendly and everything looks teeny on a 4k monitor (which I didn't have two years ago). The usual way I fix this didn't work beyond the initial screen asking if you want to start a new image, etc.

Hence I'd say if you don't have it then it's quite a bit of fun, but probably a pass if you have a lot of pixels on your screen... unless the authors have a tip?

P.S. Note, on Win 10 Pro x64 I did RMB->Properties->Compatibility->Change High DPI Settings->Tick "Override..." at bottom and select "System(Enhanced)"

Snakeman,
I do agree it has a complicated interface and that I've only used it a couple of times. It makes nice simple backgrounds for my desktop wallpapers. The main feature of which is my dog.

TK,
I mentioned Jan 2016 because that is the version I have installed, 1.1.9.0 as the .exe file shows. I was just trying to make the point that this version today, is not new, not trying to give a history lesson.

Snakeman,

"i don't think this is for homeusers. I think some professional people can make a good use of it."

I think TK said it best when he wrote: "Happy play time :)"

I don't think it's for everyone -- lots of people will get bored, seemingly endlessly tweaking settings to finally arrive at something where you can proudly say: "I made that!" And then what? There are only so many things you can do with your new abstract. Others will get a kick out of it, more or less creating just for the joy of creating.

I don't see it as being a Go To tool for pros however, because it's too time consuming, & time is money as they say. They're much more likely to get something premade from from one of the galleries, e.g. Adobe's. Then again, someone could make dozens of these & upload them to one of those galleries, and hopefully make some money for their time & effort.
