Finally. It looks like you can make ''real'' collages, by arranging cut out portions of a picture instead of just arranging square pics on a page. I'll be trying this one out. Thanks so much Pearl Mountain Software and GOTD!

Be able to size the window. On netbook small screen was able to add photo list but then unable to get to a template or any other instructions so only could hit the x. No scroll bars but page did seem to extend beyond viewable screen.

You can import your own backgrounds and clipart etc You can make your own templates, just change an existing one and chose save as template under template tab. Doh !! Like the templates for something else download them and if you can do more than complain you should be able to make your own. The number of people who do nothing but complain about quality products being given to them for nothing is sad. It may put off others from offering their programs.

Well I was looking for something to just make my desktop look better with a new wallpaper. Really easy to use, and much more sophisiticated than the CollageIT. Yea, some of the templates look kiddie if you will, but the templates worked great. Like that you can adjust photo size, etc. Not bad. First thing I've ever tried from GOTD, thanks!!

Thanks GOTD. Nice software.
There is one problem and that is on the navigation pane option the EFFECT button is missing. Hence cannot add effects to the photos.

A bit surprised and the lack of attention put to the pre-designed templates. For example, load up the "year1" template and look at the first three months. Notice the distance between January and February. Then look a February and March. Same alignment problems in "year2".

I've yet to figure out how to change all twelve months to 2011. Should be able to do this with one entry (I know I can change them individually, doing each one-at-a-time.)

Downloaded and installed to my laptop with no problems. (Win7 Home Premium 64 bit) I tried the program out by making a birth announcement for my great-grandson. It took me longer to pick the photos than it did for this program to generate the finished product. It looked amazing! I will definitely be trying it out more when I get home from work. A definite keeper for me!! Thanks GAOTD and Pearl Mountain Software.

Well that's not very nice. I had made a few 3-month calendars with the previous version 2.2.8. Now that I have installed this latest version 2.5.7. whenever I load one of those previously made projects the programme crashes. I use that project file to make calendars for a next three month period. Surely this shouldn't happen.

It would be nice if the developers could offer a solution to this problem. So far I'm not exactly happy with this 'upgrade'.

Installed fine on Win 7. I took the time to make a collage and test it out, and it worked great! There are many options to choose from besides using templates, and as for the quality of images, be sure to select the highest. They have the default set to a medium quality output, but you can change that for a higher resolution. The only suggestion I would add to this program, is to allow for shadow or glow under/around the frame of each picture. I will try to make my own backgrounds, clip art and frames in my paint program (RealDraw Pro by Mediachance), and see if I can load them in the respective folders in this program.
(Sorry for not linking RDP, but don't know the coding.)BTW, I LOVE vector graphics! ;)
This is a great program. Glad I installed it! Thanks GOTD & Pearl Mountain.

Just a quick note in case it helps those looking for more pro-type results... In my experience & FWIW graphics/imaging pros are not going to use templates, so most graphics apps that include them are going to be more consumer oriented, meaning themes more appropriate for grandma & grandpa than any office. More sober themes like you'd expect at work are usually part of or available for the apps you'd use at work, like Office.

Vector graphics are harder to work with, create, & edit, & vector graphics apps have seen a bit of a decline in popularity since their smaller graphics/image file sizes became much less of an issue years ago. Illustrator [ http://goo.gl/8w1wG ] is perhaps king of the hill, while Corel Draw! [ http://goo.gl/4Qow] is much more accessible for average humans, & includes loads of artwork & templates. If you don't have something like MS Ofc. already, but want to do pro biz versions of the projects Picture Collage Maker Pro create, & much more, you might want to check them out. If you're on a tight budget you can sometimes find older versions of Corel Draw! for a much better price, & also check out the actual requirements for upgrade installs. But again, this is for more biz oriented stuff -- for many the prices may not be realistic for home use.

Picture Collage Maker Pro is a pretty nice app with the limitation that it works with regular rasterized images [photos] rather than vector art for things like frames, & the included artwork is low rez -- that makes it cool for digital viewing, not as good for printing. Many [maybe most?] printers will do an OK job with it, but it's not going to be the same quality that you'd get with higher rez artwork &/or vector graphics [vector graphics files contain instructions for your software or printer to create the image so the result can be most any resolution]. That said, nowadays printing your project is not as necessary as it was years ago, & if/when you do need prints, it's very often more cost effective to have it done through one of the services on-line or in stores, once you consider sale pricing, free offers, the cost of ink & better paper etc., & if you're going that route you can usually design your collage or other project as part of the service, no installed software required.

If OTOH you want to do the design & printing from your PC/laptop, there are lots of alternatives, though not all of them will be as easy as using PearlMountain's PCMP [today's GOTD]. Many word processors can work with both images/pictures & vector graphics, & there's usually loads of free clipart etc. on-line in formats that they'll work with. Corel sells a home version of their flagship CorelDraw! suite, & either that or their full versions can more than do the job, though templates etc. will be a mix -- you won't get the same specialized selection as you do in PCMP. Inkscape is I think the leading open source vector drawing app. Serif apps are nice, they usually have some older versions on their site &/or elsewhere on-line for free, plus occasionally you can pick up great deals on Serif products through Amazon's downloadable software store, either free or for something like $3 in my experience. And there are the Hallmark type apps, often themed [e.g. one or more Disney characters] that are often on sale &/or available as cheap OEM discs.

If you can live with the lower resolution images/graphics, Picture Collage Maker Pro is very nice, with enough control over sizing and placement of elements that I think most people will be satisfied. Make sure you downloaded the Pro version -- the earlier download left the *Pro* off & setup would no longer activate/run. Installation adds a couple of shell-related keys to the registry, along with 1 key for the app itself & another for uninstall. 83 fonts are included/added, though some might be newer or older versions of fonts you already have. The program folder itself holds ~121 MB in 2,800 files, 71 folders -- most are .png images [if I remember correctly an earlier GOTD from PearlMountain used GIF & jpg, & if so this is a nice improvement]. Folders are also added to All User Shared Documents or Public Documents, All User Application Data or Program Data, & User Application Data or User App Data Roaming [XP/win7].

[As I was already working in XP & 7 VMs I ran through a monitored install of the ScrapbookFlair that was mentioned in comments... High impact install, with many files added to Windows system folder, & in win7 it insists on adding .NET 1.1, but it seems to work in both XP & 7.]

According to http://www.scrapbookflair.com/faqs.aspx

Q. What are the system requirements for running the ScrapbookFlair software?
Your PC compatible computer will need to have either Windows XP, NT, 2000, ME, 98 SE, Windows 7 or Vista to function properly.

This is a great program but the templates are totally cheesy. They really decrease the utility of this program.

I want to make professional looking collages with my images, like the kind you get in photo studios (and I'm talking the Walmart photo studio, not necessarily high end places). However the templates with this program are all cartoonish and not something you'd want to print and hang in your home, forget even waste your time on.

The simple layouts with only pictures are nice and can yield some beautiful professional looking collages.

With improved templates this could be a killer program. As it is it's really only a toy.

I always like when people give the other free alternatives.

@Peter, thanks for linking to 'Collage It', but beware, the link is to the free version. When you use it, it puts a large, ugly watermark on your image. So, don't waste your time with that freebie.

A few months ago GAOTD Team released this nice tool (5 MB in size only) made by the same publisher (there is also a FREE Version of it):

What do you make of it, dudes?

Honestly 93 MB for a Picture Collage Maker seems to me too much!!

Best FREE Alternative to this GAOTD I'm aware of:

* Foto-Mosaik-Edda

Ok, I did finally get it installed after the 4th try. Maybe the site was too busy to download properly? Anyhow, it seems to work great and I am looking forward to doing some creating with it, soon. There appears to be lots of templates for my use, which is personal use for children and grandchildren mostly.

The free SW you mentioned is nice but, unlike this GAOTD, it only works on (prehistoric) NT, 2000, ME, Windows98 (??? LOL!!) and XP (no VISTA and WINDOWS 7 compatibility).

Is that right?

http://www.scrapbookflairsoftware.com/

So it looks like a good alternative to this GAOTD but only for people using old machines!!!

The quality of the art work is unsophisticated. This is OK if you want graphics with a 1970s feel, but most people would prefer 'classic' or 'beautiful' to 'cute.' How about putting out a free update with the ability to put photos in decorated frames? Google up "2011 trends in graphics" for ideas.

The week numbers on the calendar can be removed by unchecking "show week numbers". Hard to believe that someone complained about something that simple to do.

The program would be useful to adults if the childish templates were supplemented with some more professional looking templates. Probably OK for school kids to learn about mosaics or collage making.

Here is a freeware collage program that seems to address the issues of those who need a wider variety of templates. The site offers seemingly hundreds of templates and backgrounds to download off the site in addition to those available with the program. It looks like a great alternative.

Hello, I'm curious to see what the confusion regarding Versions will be about later on today.
Visited Pearl Mountain Software Site with 2 Versions on offer only: Picture Collage Maker v.2.5.6 (80 templates, File Size 42.80MB) and Picture Collage Maker Pro v.2.5.7 (160 templates, File Size 49.80MB, released few day ago) - price of the latter one (Pro) $39.90 --- Strangely enough the simple maths tells me that the Size of today's GAOTD is exactly the Two combined together? -- I don't know this Software yet, I've been using Ark Soft for Calenders a.s.o. and FxFoto for Collage making, it'll be interesting to see how this one compares. Any Photo Software (for maniacs like me:), but seriously working with photo's all the time) - is worth keeping if space allows - even if there's only few different "tricks" in each of them, you never knows - they might become your favorite "one hit wonders"!
Always looking forward to be spoiled for choice..:) Downloaded Picture Collage Maker, but still waiting for final "go ahead" from GAOTD to see what we're getting. Thanks for a "gifted horse", what ever it is:)

Be careful with selecting the "background" link. That is NOT the background for the project, it's the Windows background. It changed my background picture and reset the link to the program folder. The undo feature did not work so if you use it, make sure you know what the link to your previous background folder is first. Ouch!

Just like #7, I am waiting for a follow up to post #1, which states that the version here is version 2.3.0, whereas on Pearl Mountain's website they've just released v2.5.7 - so should be a few improvements made since the version accidentally posted here.

I am looking forward to downloading this and comparing to the Wondershare Photo Collage Studio that I downloaded here a while ago and which I am finding quite useful.

This is one of the few programs that I purchased as I am on a fixed income. I downloaded it as a trial and loved it. It is absolutely great. I can't say enough for it. You can change each template so easily to fit your needs. You can add your own background. You can put the pictures in any position and any size. You can change frames and in the pro, you can change frame colors.
Hi Paul on No. Six. You can change the calender dates. Go at the very top of the program and click on Collage and then click on calender and choose a calender date that you would like.
I can't say enough about this program.Nice offer..but glad I purchased this one..

Hi,

FYI:
An earlier version I used was GAOTD on June 4, 2010:
Picture Collage Maker Pro 2.2.8 version. PRO!
For comments on that version, see: http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/picture-collage-maker-2/#more-12719
A still earlier giveaway was ver 2.0.5 - but I see no use going that far back to get an idea of how the program was generally possitively appreciated - appart from the huge download size (also 93MB), the somewhat oldfashionned templates and the problem of uninstalling (earlier) versions.

I'm waiting for a follow-up reply to post #1 by the GAOTD project team re. today's version.

I take it that today's installment is "downward compatible" with and/or that I can install it aside my older version.

I'm confident that today's giveaway will be a substantial improvement on an already good piece of software. (BTW, I haven't checked for any versions given away here between June 2010 and today...)

Greetz,
Patrick.

1. It would be nice to be able to adjust the date on the calendar.
2. The Templates are more for children
3. Wonershare photo collage studion which was given away a little while ago, is very similar.
4. Thanks GOTD, freeware is always appreciated.

Dear visitors!

Thank you for your patience. :)

Everything has finally become clear. The Vendor sent us wrong version of Picture Collage Maker Pro by mistake, but at the moment the latest version (2.5.7) is already available for download on GOTD.

We apologize for this inconvenience and hope all of you will enjoy this new version on your PC!

ps: "Key cannot be decrypted" error during installation means that you use old build. Please re-download.

Best regards,
GOTD project team
