This one starts out bad with a "stumbling" and slow installation (might be just my machine) and then what I feel is a very flaky program. This might have been impressive 20 or so years ago but today, there are just so many cheaper or free options available... And nobody has to look very hard to find them.
I'm sorry KC Softwares, you've got some interesting stuff but this one misses the mark (by a lot.)
Giovanni, thanks for your information. Not only is it very informative to us (the users), it should also be quite helpful to the publishers who provide the software to GAOTD - It points them towards existing free software that they're trying to compete with and illustrates to them where the bar already sits.

Win7 x64
v3.0.1.76

installs into directory of your choice, 3 MB

registers simply using the provided reg key
though you need to restart it once to get
rid of /some/ of the "Buy" prompts (but one
"Buy" button still remains)

window is NOT resizeable
NO help

just what are "dynamic pictures" ???
just what is "on video text insertion" & how do you insert it ???

limited selection of output resolutions

none of my tests displayed any animation
the first frame displayed, then nothing more, except for some black
blotches from time to time. otherwise never did the picture change.

as pointed out, no drag&drop!

OK, changing the codec was the ticket.
had to change from "MSVC Microsoft Video 1" to "Cinepak"
& that gave me animation

(i am codec limited)

choosing IYUV Intel codec, caused the program to barf
not allowing me to do much except close & start over

not so great, not so bad
professional, no
usable, yes

i had a second IYUV Intel codec listed, so of course i
had to try that

& that DID work quite well
crisp & clean, looking good
BUT AT 253 MB for 9 little pictures, 33 sec, that is just a little too good!

there is NO prompt on overwrite, so if you forget & use
the same output file as your last run, oh well, bye bye

"on video text insertion" is where is places the frame/
picture number & name at the bottom of the shot

it was able to handle different size source files
(seem to recall one free product that required all the source
files to be the same size, dimensions)

perhaps with a better codec (compression without quality
loss) i would be better pleased. as it is, i do not
intend to download what i don't have, so i'll live with
what i've got

oh, its worth a shot
it could & should be better

this product had no "toolbars", but from what i've seen
of the trial versions from other KC softwares, yes you
do need to be aware of them when you're installing the
trials

@Janet you asked "Which if any of your suggestions allow voice recording?"

The best way to find out is follow the links Giovanni gave and a couple minutes reading for key words voice or music.

Some of Giovanni's short descritions included the word music.

If the program allows you to add music but not narrate your slide show, there's an easy workaround.

Create your slide show. Reduce window to half size.
Open sound recording program in another window half size.
Start your slide show, start narrating and save as .wav or .mp3 etc
Add the narration to slide show like music file.

#2 'Harroman' try ctrl+ or get new glasses!

#7 'John' if you check Wikipedia, film is also a movie:- therefore a movie is a film QED!

Not all software has to have 10,000 bells & whistles (like MS Office/Photoshop etc!) who uses them anyway. Most users only use 20% of the functionality of a program, so why no provide a 'barebones' solution for those users who don't want to take the time to discover hidden features.

Seems to me voice recording just needs a microphone and the mic enabled in the mixer- and some recording tool, like Wavosaur.

All free or with windows, just need a mic. Sound is sound, eh?

as for the program, it's ho-hum IMO- I'll keep using the free tools I've been using- drag-and-drop support is something everyone should provide as a matter of course since at least Y2K.

as for the toolbar, they issue fair warning if you pay attention- http://www.kcsoftwares.com/index.php?rk [2 links on the download page] states:

As indicated on our "Download" page, some of our products come bundled with "Relevant Knowledge". Here are some important facts to know :

RK is fully OPTIONAL, it is not required by our software to run correctly.
RK can be uninstalled independantly from our software, using your Control Panel.
RK helps KC Softwares keeping its freeware products free.
RK may be detected by some antivirus as a spyware. RK is aware of this problem and is working with the antivirus programs to correct this mischaracterization.

and that includes most of the shareware full builds, including this one.

I just made sure to note this in the info file I always save with my downloads. [VideoInspector and SUMo. they look useful for later.]

thanks, KC Softwares & GOTD

This is a very simple program to create video from your photos. While it is good for beginners who just want to make a quick video, it lacks the bells and whistles of more capable applications. There is a tutorial video, but the help needs more information. I couldn't figure out how to use the organize option (I assume it is to re-arrange the order of the photos selected.) Anyone figure that out? if that is not what organize does, then that option should be added to the program. It needs many more options (adding text, different fade options, etc.) for most users. It did create the video quickly and the output was of high quality.

John@7: The URL for kcsoftwares.com originates in France. The program name in French would be Photo au Cinéma. That means photo to movies, or motion pictures. In English there's more of a dual meaning to "film," so American/English-speaking photographers are more likely to interpret the program name as meaning the image-recording product rather than the medium.

Renaming the program PhotosToCinema would make this distinction clearer. English-speaking photographers aren't likely to mistake "cinema" for something you put in your older analog camera to record images on.
