nice to see followup by dev. with caveat that i have not even been tempted to download the offering/test/whatsamawhat version (since these squirrels are hilarious), my responses to your replies:

"Enterprise Password Generator" - the earlier goatd edition (erroneously linked "edition") was too limited to ever qualify as "enterprise".

the cpu usage does not seem explained by d/l and install of unavail NET parts. though perhaps hi cpu could occur with a slow computer on very fast connection? I've never experienced that as well as i recall, but I don't know about adobe registration. i avoid adobe/macromedia junk. they're the autodesk of macs, like jobs is the ballmer of apple, so..

feature ads/nags - the proper way to advertise (properly greyed) features in menus that are available only on higher editions is to rewrite the tooltip/bubblehelp text in the lesser/crippled/lite versions. and that UI/UE tip is worth over 100 euros in avoided damage to customer relations :-)

I am Diplodock representative, and on behalf f Diplodock staff, I would like to first of all thank you all for downloading and trying our product.

I would also like to apologize for the fact that the description featured on this page was for Professional Edition, while what was 0offered was Light and then Standard editions.
Additionally, I would like to quickly comment on several issues that came up:

- Like was already mentioned .NET Framework is part of later versions of Windows, like Windows Vista. It improves user’s security by restricting system resources that applications can access, and frequently programs written using the framework outperform other programs, because frameworks JIT compiler can make optimizations specific to user’s processor on the fly, which results in better performance.

- Some have mentioned long installation times and high CPU usage afterwards. This probably has to do with the fact that .NET Framework was missing on the computers of these users and was automatically downloaded and installed by setup. And it takes considerably longer to install it than to install the program itself.

- This product is NOT and was never meant to be a password manager or password storage application. Nor was it supposed to be a simple password generator for home users who want to come up with a few nice easy to remember passwords. It is an Enterprise Password Generator that is supposed to be used by organizations that need to adhere to strict password policies they have. Therefore comparisons to RoboForm and similar tools are not really valid, because these products have different purposes.

- Some have mentioned long Activation Procedure. Well, some programs like Adobe Products for example also have long activations procedure that can take a few seconds of 100% CPU usage even on faster computers.

- Many have said that it’s easy to come up with passwords without any program or that at the most freeware web resources will do. While this is certainly true if you only need a few simple passwords, it is not true if you need to quickly generate many thousands sophisticated passwords that match your security policy or follow some complex mask.

- A lot of users have complained about nag screens that say that such or such feature is not available in Light/Standard Edition. While these messages may seem annoying they cannot be called nag screens because they do not have a timer nor do they pop-out when you start or close the program. They only appear when you try to access a feature which is not available. From our experience we have learned that users frequently do not quite understand the difference between different editions, and so they go for the least feature-packed edition. And if the edition with less features than other edition did not have a way to let users know that the functionality they may be looking for does exist in other editions, it would be much worse for users that do need those features.

- Some have asked about existence of the library that other applications can use to implement password generation capability internally. There is such library. It is part of Developer Edition of this product.

- Some have asked if it is possible not to pay “hundreds of bucks” for this product if they are a small non-profit organization. Yes, it is possible, we offer Special license precisely to such organizations! Please use our website to contact us.

Once again, thank you all!

Just goes to show.

-This is a program that doesn't do as advertised.
-Is normally ridiculously priced
-The functions that it does have can be done by several other programs who have many more features and possibilities then this one even if it did do as advertised
-The function it does have, creating a random password, could just as well have be done without any program what so ever

Nonetheless, there are still 68 thumbs up for it.

This program is free for a reason. It shut down on me 3 times in 5 minutes. On top of that the standard version they give you doesn't support half of the features. I think it's a waste of space on your hard drive. Also I agree with Kim, RoboForm is Free and actually works.

It looked like a waste of time on this one since I've been using ROBOFORM for the past two years and this doesn't even measure up to that. Of course you have to purchase the pro version to have more than 10 logins. What's also great is you can edit and print all you logins in case of a computer meltdown.
