Hello Again Folks . . .
"that’s me for now BUT in the words of Arnie . . . I’ll Be Back . . . In a few hours in fact !!!" - OK - it's been a few more hours than I'd expected - about 30 odd of them in fact. - Due to the Tramadol PainKillers I'm constantly on for my back - I sleep a lot BUT with working etc. - I'm getting less sleep - as a result - when I did finally get back to my Laptop lastnight at 20:20 - I put in around an hours typing - ( Saving as I went ) - before falling asleep mid sentence etc... you know how it goes - anyway - I woke up this morning to a shock. - I ALWAYS create my GOTD Posts in Windows XP's 'Wordpad' - ( copied into Win7 ) - so I can then format it etc. prior to copying the end result to the GOTD WebSite. - This Morning I woke to find Bruce - My Cat - asleep on my external keyboard & somehow he'd erased ALL of my work - including the previous 2 posts you've already seen PLUS ALL the work from last night & replaced it with random key garbage & then somehow SAVED OVER THE ORIGINAL ! ? ! - I love him to bits BUT . . .

AND THEN - he just looked at me like "WHAT ??? - I'm comfy here !" SO As a result - I've got to try to remember EVERYTHING I typed last night & re-type it today - ( & keep the keyboard away from bruce ) - after all - I PROMISED to deliver !!!

Right Then - I saw questions about what exactly a Virtual Drive is etc. - ( either HERE on GOTD or in an e-mail ) - So Here goes . . .

-------------------------
By the way - you'll notice in this piece that I mention Virtual Drive in full quite a bit
- I'm sure you'll understand WHY I don't reduce it to it's initials - :o)
-------------------------

To explain a 'Virtual Drive' - It should be easy to understand if you're familliar with .Zip / .Cab or .Rar files as they work in a similar way. BUT for those who aren't familliar - Zip / Cab & Rar files are single files that contain other files - either SINGLE, MULTIPLE or even THOUSANDS of files - inside the one file. - These INNER FILES are usually compressed so they can be stored away taking less space on the Hard Drive etc. - This compression is performed by the Zip / Cab or Rar creation software. - The popular softwares inlude names like WinZip & - ( the one I use ) - WinRar although these programs don't CREATE .Cab files - they just Open / Read & edit them. - Cab files are mainly created & used by Microsoft - ( & other Software Publishers ) - in their Software Installers - meaning a FULL SETUP program that would be 4Gb+ may be only 2Gb in actuallity !!

The easiest way to imagine a Zip / Cab / Rar software working is if you imagine a cardboard or trash compactor - first it presses down & squeezes all of the air & spare space out of the contents & then it wraps it all up to keep it that compressed size - in the same way - these Compression / Creation Softwares will take in ALL of your selected files & remove whatever space exists inside each leaving them much smaller than before - THEN they're packaged in a single file with the .Zip / .Cab or .Rar etc. extension - ( there are MANY others - my WinRar handles 14 types+ )

SO now you have a basic understanding of these file types etc. - a Virtual Drive File is made in a similar way BUT ON A MUCH LARGER SCALE !!! - A program like Paragon's Drive Copy Pro will analize the entire Physical Hard Partition's structure & file system etc. It then creates a single file FULL OF EVERYTHING contained on the Physical Drive. - Like the Compression Files - Virtual Drives have their own file extensions too !

The two Virtual Machines I use are Virtual PC & Virtual Box. - There are othere Virtual Machine Softwares !

Virtual PC's Virtual Drives - come in 2 files - the Massive .Vhd Virtual Hard Drive file & the tiny - ( 13kb ) - .Vmc Control Parameters file.

Virtual BOX's Virtual Drives - also come in 2 files - the Massive .Vdi Virtual Hard Drive file & the tiny - ( 7kb ) - .Vbox Control Parameters file.

You can use either of these programs to create a Virtual Drive from scratch - ie you instruct the program to create a 20Gb Virtual Drive to install a Virtual Windows onto - the original Virtual Drive's
file size - unused can either ee pre-set to MAX - meaning it occupies 20Gb of physical Drive space - even when empty OR to save Physical drive space - it can be set to GROW meaning the actual foot print EMPTY is a few Kb NOT Gb !!! - - ( the MAX & GROW names are MY descriptions - not those used in the softwares ) -

Once running in a Virtual Machine - a cloned copy of a Working WINDOWS Drive / Partition should boot up as normal - even though it's running inside a program !!!!!

You may also want to view "Virtual Machines - What is a Virtual Computer & what is it for ?

-------------------------

IF you find this information useful & would like to refer to it in future - I will be copying the content to MY WebSite at some point in the next few weeks BUT I'm NOT SURE exactly WHEN as I'm not able to spend as much time on the site as I used to. - To all those people who have e-mailed already with questions - I'll answer in you next few days - as I get a chance . . . HONEST - :o)b>

-------------------------

I hope this has been helpful for some of you - even though it's a day late ! - :o)

for any one taking a look at this page
after the give away, i can say so far this
program is packed with more features then
i thought it would have.
i just got a new 2 tb sata drive that i decided
to use as a storage media(file back) and use a 1 tb
as my operating system clone from a 500 gig currently
in use.
first i used an older version of seagate sea tools to set up
the new drive into 2 partitions, all went well but after booting
the pc vista 64 could not see the partition table.
i set up the drive in vista for 2 partitions also, and after
over an hour it had only gone 5% complete.
next step was to run this program in advanced mode where i was
able to set up the primary partition and format it in a bout 2 min
then set up an extended partition then create a logical drive with formatting.
windows recognized both partitions with out a hitch .
after the hard drive copy is complete i will try the clone option and post back.

#52. Absolutely agree.
Regarding OEM - if you move any part of that OEM hardware to your new PC (one screw from mainboard) that migration is IMHO also legal.
Paragon do not violate in any case - they just make a knife for you and you are responsible for the proper use of that knife.

Hi, another thing after installing this Software - It introduced USB HDD Myson CS8819A2-189 into my System and initially caused me to panic when suddenly one of my Local Disks (smallest one, F:) "disappeared", so if that happens to you - restart Windows!, it says (when installing) it's not "compulsory", so easy to ignore (as in my case), but that's what can occur.

I have got this problem many times before too and today as well.

I unzip the downloaded file. then run setup.exe - THEN THE ORIGINAL INSTALLER WINDOW SETUP OF THE PRODUCT APPEARS FOR 1 second and disappears. NO ERROR MESSAGES NO NOTHING.
All i have then is only the giveawayoftheday window - stating product activated.

but the original products installer just disappears. how do i go about stopping the original installer window to not crash nad disappear ?

Using xp sp3. and other things apart from giveawayoftheday setups working properly.

#52--kalmly==I think what you posted is accurate, and I lament that. Once you buy a product you "should be" able to break it up and use it as you wish. Can you imagine buying an OEM computer and not being allowed to move the power supply, video card, or hard drive to a new machine? Why should the OS be any different? And I am talking about vacating/moving the software resulting in the software being on only one machine.

Are we meant to be slaves to these mega millionaires? (yes-rhetorical!)

Thinking about all these things--my conclusion is that anyone interested in back up "should" have at least one spare hard drive with a proven working clone of their OS on the booting "C" partition. Only a few dollars more for a proven backup?==Money could not be better spent.

To all the people who recommend doing a clone to another hard drive, this is the way to do it, and test your cloned drive to see if it boots!

I clone my drives once or several times a week, and I put the cloned drive in a wooden drawer away from ANY electrical stuff.

Believe me this has saved me several times because of a hard drive failure, I simply pull the cloned drive out of the wooden drawer and replace my bad drive and re-boot, in about 10 minutes.

I may be a few days out of date, but I will take that any day as opposed to doing any other type of backup restore, that usually is dicey at best!

Hi, at this late hour (where I am) - "Paragon Drive Copy 11 Professional Special Edition (English) activated - what next?"..

My Comment is!:) - Jumping again(!!) through hoops trying to paste copied from e-mail both Product Key and Serial Number. This whole "Please note that the data is case sensitive!" is Sooo ANNOYING!!! that after several attempts (in every possible way - careful, from e-mail, from Notepad) - I had to type it in MANUALLY to make it work. Please STOP this! Stop misleading people that copy+paste works! It was bad in the past, it's getting almost impossible to call it normal. My nerves are also very much Case Sensitive!!, please make a note of it Paragon!

Otherwise - looking forward (yeah, after all that, lol) to start using Paragon Drive Copy 11 Professional Special Edition. Thanks GAOTD for this popular Giveaway.

Bernice Jenkins @ #17 wrote: "I am a newbie to computers but wanted to know if drive cloning is the same things as drive imaging? Is that the same thing? If not, what is the difference? Is one better then the other and why?"

Today's offering does "cloning", which is what you would want to do if (for example) you want to move all your files from your old, small hard drive, to a new larger hard drive. You could then remove the old drive and dispose of it, and your PC would run from the new drive as though nothing had happened (except for the increase in free space).

Imaging, on the other hand, takes all the files from your hard drive, and puts them into an "archive" that you can store elsewhere, such as DVDs or external hard drives. You can't use this archive directly, but in the event of disaster (virus attack, or hard drive failure, etc.) you can use the archive to restore your system to the same state as existed when you made the image. This can be done to an existing, or a new hard drive. This is the best form of backup, as you don't need to reinstall Windows or personal files afterward. Today's offering can't do this, but some of Paragon's other offerings, such as Backup & Restore, and other programs, such as Macrium Reflect, Drive Image XML, and others, can.

Hope this helps...
John

I think the download is too large for those of us in 3rd world countries with crappy Internet service. I've had to restart the download twice & it looks like the free registration period will be over by the time the download completes. :-(

Hello Again Folks . . .

It's currently 00:50 as I start to type this & the first thing I want to say is THANKS to those of you with kind words - both here on the website & those of you who visited my site & e-mailed me from there . . . THANK YOU ALL !!!! - I've only just got back to my laptop having got home around 23:30 - so to pt it mildly - I'm knackered - so this post MAY be shorter than usual BUT I WILL RETURN HERE in a few hours to follow on - so I'm gonna take this opportunity to apologise to the Moderator(s) as I'm probably going end up giving them more work by moderating TWO GOTD screens instead of just one.

ALSO I think it only fair to point out that having been a Member of the GOTD AUDIENCE for several years now - one thing is all to apparent - people are always quick to have a go at the GOTD Team BUT one section of the team very rarely gets a mention - the Moderators - day-in day-out they're sifting through hundreds of posts to ensure that what we see is ONLY product / site related.

I've seen MANY Forums where moderation is either minimal or even NON-EXISTENT - to the extent that on the UK version of MSN.Com
you regularly get posts mentioning how to find love & how to make extra money etc. - CLEARLY SPAMS - yet it's left down to us - the readers - to flag-up the stuff that shouldn't be there. - I think it's fair to say - we tend to take our moderators for granted her on GOTD - we submit a post & then wait impatiently for it to pass moderation & be made available to view. - I know I've had a couple of occasions where my posts have sipped through the cracks & never saw the light of day BUT on the whole their usually on the nail. - So from myself & I'm sure a large amount of the GOTD community - I want to say a heartfelt THANKS for all the hard work - we do appreciate it really !!! :o)

ALSO - I'd like to thank PARAGON who have - ( yet again ) - proved that a GOTD promotion should be MORE than just offer up a cut down version to get the publicity & then ignore the questions. - I've been a fan of Paragon's software since I first found it here on GOTD a few years ago & despite the File Size issues - ( WHICH I HOPE THEY'LL LOOK INTO MY PREVIOUS COMMENT ) - not only do they respond to customers questions here on the forum BUT ALSO - occasionally they include our suggestions in future releases / updates & in changes on their site etc. I know that they take our opinions seriously AS FACT - they've e-mailed me directly about mine !!! - It would be nice to see a few more companies following suite !!!

ANYWAY . . .

Since my post earlier - there's been TONS of questions & I WILL attempt to address those not yet covered or explain further etc. later.

In the mean time - I'm going to cover a couple of quickies BUT I PROMISE to come back at some point today when I have time as I won't be working this afternoon.

Comment by Dadams @ No. 5 = "Then the version they give here is usually unique and can not be found on their web site. The version here will be slightly better than their free program but not as good as their paid program. So the user is left to envy the extra features they could have if they buy the better program. For me I will pass on this. Thank you for the offer.
"

Hello Again Dadams
I forgot to mention earlier - with this part of the comment - I think you're missing the point of the GOTD site - yes we get FREE Software - some great - some not so much BUT the whole idea behind the GOTD Model is that - you download the GOTD & if you really like it OR you find that it does a good job BUT you want ALL the features - YOU BUY THE FULL VERSION !!! - I personally bought the Full version of Audials after it was given away here before Christmas & a couple of other purchases prior to that. - WHY would a company invest in time & money with GOTD if the expected NO FUTURE SALES from it ? - There have been a couple of Network Monitoring Softwares given away here that had a value of over $400 - do you honestly think a company can afford to give away THOUSANDS OF $400+ licenses & expect nothing in return ? - Remember that on an average 24 Hr period - depnding on the software - there can be 8,000 - 16,000 Downloads world-wide !!!
YES - they get the FEEDBACK & the PUBLICITY . . . BUT - as the saying goes "there's no such thing as a free lunch" - IF Paragon gave you ALL the features in their main Suite of HDD Management Software to keep & your PC ran instead of "Special Editions" - WHY would you buy it for yourself ? - IF your PC ran smooth with the software installed & from it you were able to burn a "Paragon HDD Work Tools DVD" whenever you needed one - there'd be no reason for anyone to buy. - PLUS - even though we're told NO UPDATES - Paragon issue NEW RELEASES & VERSIONS TO US Every few Months or Annually FOR FREE. Do you still feel your complaint is a valid one ? - Personally - I'm afraid I don't !

-------------------------

-

Comment by Lenard @ No. 58 = "Don’t see the need for this as Windows already had a built in back up and recovery system as well as file transfer function, both of which work perfectly … Just a comment, nothing against Paragon Software."

Hi Lenard
You've missed the point of this software entirely. As far as I know - Windows Recovery Center can't create a Virtual Drive from your existing Windows System. This program is way more than a Recovery Disc. - PLUS The idea behind the Windows Recovery Disc - is to return your Windows Drive back to health - NOT to MOVE your Windows installation to a NEW DRIVE OR MACHINE. They're really not comparable. You may as well compare Oranges & Onions - Both have Skins & both begin with O - so are they the same ?

-------------------------

- - Well it's now 02:22 so that's me for now BUT in the words of Arnie . . . I'll Be Back . . . In a few hours in fact !!! - :o)

hi folks,
I am not going to download this one, since I have never found paragon products to be blind friendly or accessibility enabled in the several years I have been utilizing give away of the day products. the good side is that although there are a few spots that paragon needs to work on, there products are decent ones from all accounts I have seen in more reputable pc magazines and other tech write-up's, and sighted friends have echoed these sentiments.

just wish they would contact me or someone and fix the screen reader incompatibility problems.

for those using screen readers although its not free, CASPER works extremely well,

have a grand day,
Blind Computer User

USB 3.0 is backward compatible with USB 2.0 & 1.0.......I have used CasperXP for about 6 years & it's done what I needed which is a complete copy of my hard drive & is less then a tenth of the size of Paragon. I would have tried it BUT 188MB in a zip file would be more unzipped....I would like the use the space for other needs. I do appreciate GAOTD & Paragon for making this offer possible.

512 MB SD chip in an IDE holder cloned/booted.
IDE 20 G to IDE 20 G clone/booted.

The big test which ain't happened yet.
Making system bootable on different hardware (P2P Adjust OS)

I've tried this before (not on Paragon) and ran into trouble with
motherboard change iNTEL to ASUS
video card change agp to pcie
disk controller IDE / Sata/ Nvidia drivers
cpu change P3 to Q6600

it resulted in a BSOD and complete rebuild from scratch.

Paragon will get a XP SP3 Q6600 to i7 attempt out of me.
But its going to take a few years for something serious to burn up, since I clone my drives already. And basically bought two of everything, mainboard, video, audio, capture card, disks.

I wonder about iNTEL to AMD
I won't be merging 32 to 64 bit systems, I hate windows 7.

The Recovery disc seems to have a wizard for migrating to new drivers, and since it boots up on it's own it can make changes to the system while the system doesn't run. That's a technique I didn't try when migrating failed from a P3 to the Q6600.

Not much of a report I know

Hi has anyone encountered this problem I am having, I download the software giveaway and start the install, after it checks to make sure the giveaway has not expired the install starts after a short time I receive a message that the download software file is corrupt and to download a new file. I have downloaded them several times with the same result. This started happening around the time the new wrapper was set up but don't know if that had anything to do with it. I am running Win 7 Pro version and have tried several internet browsers to make sure that wasn't the problem. I have not installed any software so I don't think that is the problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've always had decent luck with these Paragon giveaways. Right now I'm trying to clone my current hard drive to a brand new disk. I'm using the basic Migrate hard drive and not doing Raw or Partitions raw copy and it keeps erroring out with this:
File system has allocation errors due to cross-linked files.
Run OS built-in tools for checking and correcting this kind of errors.

installed on vista 64x .
instillation went well no issues but
when i tried use the Media Builder it ran
for over an hour accessing the dvd and did nothing
i noticed that my hard drive did gain an additional
amount of space about 1 gig, but noting was ever
burned to the dvd.
after reinserting the same disk into the drive windows says it is still blank.
PC specs 6 core amd @2.8 gig, 8 gig of ddr 3 evga ti 550, asus blue ray burn, 500 gig wd sata 3 hard drive.
the media i used was a 4.7 gig verbatim dvd record not a re-wright disk.
forgot to mention this, the progress bar in the program did not move at all, zero progress.
i hope this is just a small glitch because i am getting ready to clone a disk this week.
thanks for the feed back

I'm confused (a normal state for me). All I want to do is to make a copy of my hard drive today so that when this hard drive dies I won't have to spend a whole day installing programs and downloading updates. My hard drive just died, but I wasn't concerned because I have full data backup (in several places - but online at JustCloud.com, which is very inexpensive - $135 for two years of unlimited backup). But now that I've installed my Vista (SP1 and SP2) and all my other programs, I don't want to do that again!

I've installed this and created a recovery CD. Creating the CD took all of three minutes, so I know that it couldn't have copied much. I was planning on copying to an external drive.

Also, what program on their website does this correspond to? There isn't any Paragon Drive Copy 11 there (other similar names, but...)

Should I use this program or another one?

Thanks,

--Michael

Thank you, brother, for raising this issue. I, and my whole family, as well as a huge number of other users are all on slow speed connection.

Unfortunately Paragon doesn’t seem to care about people like us. Unlike many other developers who are customer-friendly and offer two separate downloads for 32 and 64 bit, Paragon appears to ignore a large segment of consumer base by continuing to offer a mammoth download of two combined versions of their software.

By doing this they certainly alienate a lot of potential customers. Not a smart business acumen.

Regretfully I have to pass today's offer.

tried to enter this feedback on their 'share your ideas' page, the "enter the code" step was bogus and always resulted in 'You entered the wrong characters, try again'

with the many cheaper and faster SolidStateDrives (ssd) now in retail, it seems this program to move content from one drive to another is just what one needs. To avoid the time in reinstalling/updating an Operating System (OS) to the new ssd, being able to just copy it to the new ssd and change the drive letter from the previous system hd to the new ssd would appeal to novice computer users. Especially if doing so will not cancel the registry for programs installed on the older system hd and they simply were migrated to the new ssd.

I'm getting installation errors - about 15 files can't be installed (extracted) properly during setup; bad header info and CRC errors mostly. Have downloaded and tried it multiple times following instructions precisely. Win7 64-bit up-to-date. Need help please?

Mike, welcome back! I personally have really missed you, and I'm sure there are many here who will agree. I know you won't remember me, but through the GOTD FORUM, you saved me from losing everything not once, but twice.

Prof Giovanni - are you the same person as just plain Giovanni? I have been away for 2 months, and I don't know if this has already been discussed. Anyway, thanks for your post today. You have given me a lot of information, but because I'm computer disabled (I don't understand a lot of the things discussed here) I don't know which (or maybe all?) of your suggestions I should download. THANK YOU FROM SOMEONE WHO HAD TAKEN YOU FOR GRANTED AND NEVER LET YOU KNOW HOW MUCH YOUR OFFERINGS HAVE MEANT TO ME.

And, the entire time I was away I was not allowed to use my PC except for games. I realized today (my first day back) that there is one thing I REALLY need to know. WHAT IS A VIRTUAL DRIVE? HOW DO YOU CREATE ONE? (Mike, I'll be checking back tomorrow if you would like to add anything to what may have already been suggested.)

Now, to Paragon, I use my internal hard drive ONLY for those things that won't work from an external drive. I have 5 250G external drives plus one 3T external drive. I also have a CD drive - internal. Where should I download today's offering?

Paragon - I use a LOT of your software - both the free version and mostly the purchased (after trying the freebie). I trust your software more than any other offered on the 'net. Thank you for your hard work, and for sharing much of it with us (GOTD) for free.

I get "Error 1324. The path Paragon Drive Copy?11 Professional Special Edition (English) contains an invalid charater." when I try to uninstall the previous version. This also happens on all other paragon software tool when i try to uninstall them.

It's because of the "TM" trademark problem, I'm using windows xp system. Other tools given on GOTD can uninstall fine.

This bug happen was reported on previous paragon GOTD but was never given a solution. Please dont go about microsoft office tool installed... I dont have microsoft office tool, and all other GOTD installed(except Paragon) can uninstall fine using the windows Add/Remove just fine. You created this invalid TM character, then you must also create an uninstaller utility for it, its also reported in wilder security but was never fix. Its your responsibility Paragon, please dont skip it.

Hello Paragon,

First of all, Thank you for providing several useful programs.

As you can see from several comments above, you have many programs sliced and diced with overlapping and/or different functionality and limitations. Moreover, they are named such that it is hard to tell which program is suitable or best for a given job.

Please HELP OUT your customers.

Please provide table on your web site comparing functionality of different programs (including the ones given away on GAOTD). If some programs include functionality of other pieces, please indicate so. Because of this confusion, I end up installing a limited function program and discarding one with broader functions. I'd like to keep just the superset programs.

For example, I have the following:
Partition Manager
Hard Disk Manager
Drive Backup Pro
OS to SSD Migrate

Thank you
Drive Copy 11 Pro

Don't see the need for this as Windows already had a built in back up and recovery system as well as file transfer function, both of which work perfectly ... Just a comment, nothing against Paragon Software.

I downloaded it and had a look at it thought I should at least take a peek before posting a comment. I'll pass on this one, thanks anyway.

I want to take my Windows 7 Pro system and all installed apps and suites (Office 2010 H&S and CorelDRAW X5 included) – all legit, registered, activated, updated, etc. – and copy them so I can upgrade from a 5400 RPM hard disk to a new 7200 RPM hard disk in the same system. Can this program do all that, saving me the hassle of reinstalling, activating, registering, etc. the OS and apps and suites? TIA.

When trying to install on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, keep getting 'Error 1303". The installer has insufficient privileges to access the director: C:\ProgramData\...\ParagonDrive Copy 11 Professional Special Edition (English). The installation can not continue. etc...
Tried everything I found online. If I knew the full location of the file, I could probably take ownership, but the name is incomplete in the error message, and I can't find it in the ProgramData folder.

After four requests for a registration e-mail over a period of two hours (I was supposed to get it within 15 minutes), I just gave up. Granted, their server MIGHT be overburdened, but if they cannot anticipate their own needs, how can I expect them to anticipate mine?

#12 paulv: Thanks for the link to the PDF manual download for DC11Pro.

#35 ron: If you need the space, delete first B&R 2012 as the versions named with a year are usually stripped-down from the prior year's full edition. Then, next to go would be the Migrate OS program since that function seems to be covered in the GAOTD offer of DC11Pro. That's just the voice of experience not necessarily expertise since I haven't actually gotten down and compared them in any detail. Good luck from a young whippersnapper of "only" 64 who remembers my TRS-80 and C-64 and of course who could forget PCjr. No Apples, though, as my budget didn't have enough room in it to play their monopoly.

@ Joe, #44: You said:

I wont go into detail with a long discussion, but, what this software suggest it will do is in violation of Microsoft Windows TOS for Windows operating systems. Migrating an operating system from one computer to the other is not allowed.
Comment by Joe — July 18th, 2012 at 9:50 am

You are mistaken. It is perfectly legal to migrate an operating system to another computer. Migrate: Vacate one place and move to another.

Only OEM versions (of an operating system) are restricted to the original computers on which they were installed.

#2, #4, and any others: before reading all the posts, I checked my copy of Drive Copy 11 from a giveaway a few months ago (almost certainly got here), and it is actually version number 10.0.16.12919 with a release date of 11.02.11 (European for February 11, 2011). Then I used the free updater utility built into it and Paragon says that is the most recent version, so the conclusion is that there is no need to download today's GAOTD if you have it installed from the last time it was offered here.

I purchased Paragon Drive Copy 10 and cloned my C Drive with it. On the copy (Drive G), Paragon renamed the My Documents folder. I find that troubling even though everything else seems fine. I also made an image with Macrium Reflect. It did not rename the My Documents folder.

What does that mean? I have no idea. Just a bit of info I thought I'd share.

I tried to install Paragon Drive Copy 11 on my old Windows 2000 Server machine. I wanted to create a VM copy of that machine. I would like to discard my old machine and replace it with a VM machine.

Unfortunately when I try to run Setup I get this message "Setup.exe is not a valid Win32 application". Please, Please help me.

11# If you make a clone of your hard drive and later the master drive crashes will you really worry if the program that made a ready to run clone of the crashed hard drive is 10 or 100 mB in size? I think the answer is obvious enough.

I have two hard drives in my computer with a power switch to turn the slave ON/OFF. I can clone (copy everything) my master drive (~160 GB used) onto the slave in ~40 minutes. If the master drive crashes all I have to do is reboot my machine on the slave drive and copy it back into the master drive.

Paragon has good programs. FREE Paragon programs are even better! ;-)

I use Paragon Backup & Recovery 2012 Free and love it. I am not a shill either. It has saved me many times. Being retired I live on the internet. I have watched NFL and MLB games on Chinese websites that are blacked out here. While one should be careful surfing I don't worry about being infected. I know how to remove them. Plus having an image from when my machine was squeaky clean with a Paragon backup image, I am very confident browsing.
I am an average user and don't think I need today's giveaway. Thanks anyways. I don't see having to move my setup to a new machine in the near future. Does this offer today also work as a backup and restore of a hard drive. Thanks for any help.

This software copy drive or partition to another drive, but does not clone a drive or partition for backup purposes. I have Paragon Hard Disk Manager 11 Suite, and to clone drive, you hit "system backup". I tried cloning a partition, and find the GUI somewhat confusing, as it is in today's giveaway also. And it also took a very, very long time to clone a partition, compared with Acronis, which I find very much easier to use. It took me almost one and a half hour for Paragon, but only around 30 minutes or less for Acronis. Another thing, when asked where to save the clone partition, it does not show you all the drives including DVD, blu-ray all at once. Unlike Acronis, you do not have to do any other thing but just hit browse, and all your drives are immediately visible, including USB, DVD, blu-ray -- simply all drives connected to your computer.
