To those of you having problems with Norton... Norton flags executable files it hasn't seen before and prevents them from running. It's doing it's job. Since these giveaways are brand new files every day, it will prevent the first downloaders from running the setup file until it sees the file a few times and stops flagging it. The way around this is simple. Extract the setup file, right click and go to Norton Security Suite or 360 or whatever Norton you have, then click on Norton File Insight. A dialog box opens up. One of the headings says the file is Unproven. Just click on the Trust Now link, and the file will now execute with no problems. Hope this helps.

A problem with Paragon - it won't work. When I try to create a DVD boot disk it says it has done it but it hasn't! If I choose "PLDS DVD+RW DH......................" It says put in a CD but it doesn't see it. I can click "Next" for evermore. If I choose "Emulator CD/DVD" It goes though the procedure with the scan from left to right. The problem is you can't boot from this disk. Though the computer is set to boot from CD/DVD first it boot ups as normal and the Paragon startup menu does not appear. It is Rubbish!

I forgot to post this yesterday (which would have been optimum).

Is Paragon offering an upgrade option? We would appreciate a special offer to the full version after we have registered and tested the "Compact" version.

Some of us also own businesses, so a discount for the "business" edition would also be deeply appreciated. :-)

Size does matter

I downloaded the file, but by the time downloading had finished, the offer had expired.

An extra few hours of registration-time would be reasonable if downloading itself takes so much extra time.

I usually have a very fast connection. Apparently more people had this experience.

@therube post #105:

There is an 'Advanced Interface'

See post #102 from ric, quote:

For those who have already registered the software, you will typically first see the “Express” interface when you first run the software.
In Express mode, the user is helped along by Wizards to accomplish back or recovery tasks.

On the bottom left corner, you can click on “Open Advanced Interface” which will bring up a screen-interface familiar to most of us who have used any hard disk back up software...

Download Ok. install ok. Got my registry code ok, but the program does not allow me to register it. Every time I click on registration it opens the registration page. So, what’s up? I cannot register it. Advice?
If you already got product key and serial number there's no need to click "registration" again. Simply insert key and serial into corresponding fields and complete installation.

***
Help!! Like several others, I have the registration code but can’t find where to insert it in order to get the product registered…I don’t see an answer given…have I missed it, perhaps?
You will need to enter them during installation, at the step where you have "registration" button :-)

***
You really should have a table comparing ALL your many versions—including Special and Compact. It always takes an incredible amount of research to find out whether a given version is more than or less than what we already have……
Thanks for suggestion, we'll try to add such comparison to future giveaways :-)

***
I have Acronis installed. Will installing this application cause anything to break. Like causing redirection of something that one or the other needs?
i.e., will they play nice together?
Yes, you can have both installed, but please don't run them at the same time. In this case there might be a conflict about VSS and system resources.

i have always liked paragon software (i have migrate OS to SSD special ed 2.0) but guess what?
# paragon SW is always huge.
# they do not provide enough info to distinguish clearly among their software versions.
# i was about to download this at the eleventh hour, but after reading comments about grub and OS mess-up, i am not comfortable anymore.

Hi Folks,

Probably a nice product. Personally I think you should not try to do too much in one software.

A file-by-file backup program should be clean and lean (Backup4All, Cobian, possibly Easeus, not sure if Paragon has a product with just that as the focus). Here you do not back up OS, simply data and config files and email and such. Know your data.

An imaging program I find dubious, except right after an OS install (since it has the drivers and such). If your system crashes, reinstall fresh using the data backup. Takes some time, but your system is guaranteed clean and lean.

Partition and recovery (Windows PE, Linux Recovery CDs) software is a separate issue. Unless you want to get fancy with hidden partitions and such for backup (hi-tech) they really do not overlap with backup software.

My view :).

Thanks to Paragon, though. Nice company policies.
