Considering its price and dependability, I'd say it's worth it...

But better invest more on some antivirus that's more dependable and have more integrity.

#101 (Jr. Johnson) and 104 (ww2vet56): I could not let your insulting remarks pass without a response. I did indeed include av-comparatives.org in my list of test site links. You just didn't read carefully. You didn't read the av-comparatives page very carefully either.

I linked to the av-comparatives home page instead of to the actual test tables because I respected the warning printed in bright red under the tables: "It is forbidden to provide the tables or results in full or in parts on other sites! Please just refer a link to www.av-comparatives.org".

Also, while av-comparatives tested AVG anti-malware, most of the tests focused on AVG's antivirus functionality, which is in AVG Antivirus. And anyway, I clearly stated in my first comment (#11) that AVG is less effective than Avast and AntiVir - but you didn't read that one carefully, either.

I included many links to show #42 that there are multiple testing and reviewing organizations, and was responding to #42's specific question about AVG.

I hope this clarifies matters.

Installed with no problem on XP Home sp3. Restarted machine and couldn't access program. Checked Task Manager and found only had half of my processes running. Restarted again and still no show. Uninstalled Outpost, and now trying to get Antivir working right again. Looks like system restore time.
Sorry to say thumbs down on this one GAOTD.

I thought that I was rather smart when it came to computer technology, but that's only because I'm in a profession that only uses them and not write or evaluate programs. And, most of the people I know get lost after turning on the computer!! I suppose about the only thing I would like to address (and this may not be the proper place but it's better than not at all), is ??? how do you know which is better than another since it always seems like there is new versions of similar programs coming out all the time ???? I am reluctant to purchase without a trial period to see if the product actually does what I want it to (or at least think it's doing what I want it to do), but, for example, if you have more than 1 "cleaning" program installed, I have found that the first one cleans and the 2nd finds the same thing to clean again. Therefore, appearantly the first didn't clean. You know what I mean???? I'm wondering also why some of these programs aren't delisted from some of these sites??? At some point in time I would think that their usefulness would expire with upgraded or newer versions. Thanks to gaotd for their giveaways. I have used some of them and appreciate them, with or without the support or updates. Afterall, they are free and you can't complain about free. Thanks again guys!!!
