While I don't use these standalone, all-in-one editors, and therefor won't give a comparison vs. alternatives, I do find that many of the negative comments haven't examined the features available. If you use drag-and-drop, it will open a group of files (it can also save all and close all). While it doesn't let you re-order tabs, if you have more tabs than are visible, you can right-drag the tabs list.

I looked at some the HTML parsing I commented on earlier. The biggest problem is that it expects "link" to have an end tag, but it doesn't. A comment which I thought it parsed incorrectly contained a link, which it showed as active (one could argue that that's a design decision). What it didn't like in the enclosing statement was a prefixed attribute name (namespaces).

Newcomer, don't install it if you already have Aptedit. Aptedit is a better application for editing text files. However, if you need a speedy software, you can go ahead and install this. It wont' affect your Aptedit program because these are totally different programs that won't interfere with each other in any way. No, it won't disable nor expire your Aptedit program either. The only problem you might get is choosing which application as the default editor.

What this program doesn't work on PC-DOS or OS/2 Warp... shame shame :D

Seriously nice program and light weight for standard needs and the multiple tab feature is nice if you have lots and lots of re-edits to do..

As for post #1... use Edlin...or if your sadistic use "Copy con filename.txt" ;-)

And yes I'm that old :P

@100 Newcomer

I haven't really had very much time to use todays giveaway, but i have used AptEdit a lot ever since its giveaway and I would say AptEdit is better than NewtPad. Also like i mentioned i haven't really had time to use NewtPad, so this is just an estimate.

P.S. It is ok to have both programs on your PC, they won't interfere with each other, so just try it out. Don't forget, you can always uninstall the program if you don't find it useful enough, but you only have the rest of today to install it.

I agree with #93. This program is useful, yet TextPad offers more, I've used their evaluation multiple times.

Terry, comment #65, the games are not being offered as part of the game giveway project. I just thought I'd post details of some of the many free games I know about. Rather than post the whole lot enmass, which will pobably then be lost somewhere in the forums, I decided to post one a day. Hopefully it will keep people interested as it will stay on the front page of the forums for people to see. The advantage of this being that you can download any of the games that I post any time you wish. :)

regards

Day 4's free game of the day has been up over in the forums for a few hours now. It's a 264Mb downlod and is a First Person Shooter originally released on CD in 1999, then updated to the Deluxe version, which was converted to abandonware about 5 years ago. It's a great game for it's size (ps games tend to be much bigger) Check it out by going to the end of the thread:
