i have to agree with anton on this one…first thing when i installed it it said that i had to update somethings on my comp, now i dont know about anyone else but some programs wont feature with things “up to date”…base line, great program, just doesnt get along with me.

If you miss out on this, one and wish to avoid the Windows Media Player.. (i have not got it installed on my WinXP anywhwere)

Two options, Download Winamp 2.20 (Free) from oldversion.com then use an “output” plugin like out_lame to output the files to mp3 oo something real.

You must use the 2.20 version as in subsequent releases they disallow the use of plugins on WMA files, this older 2.20 vers did not have that limitation!

For a more Global “virtual soundcard driver recorder” The other known option is TotalRecorder (shareware) which can output files from any audio source like streaming radio.

The limitations of both are that the WMA files will only transcode in realtime, the Winamp version is slightly faster but not by much, WMA has a speedlimit built in to stop this…

Finally.

WMA Sucks….. never use it again and learn from your mistakes!!! Use MP3

I’ve tried, all day long, to install this program. I’ve installed, uninstalled, deleted the download, downloaded the file again, changed the setting on my computer so that it would just ignore the driver signatures, but I cannot get this program to go past the “Virtual Cable was not install properly” warning when I start the program. I really would have liked to have this program. I’ve done everything I was supposed to do to get this thing to work and I can’t.

Did not install properly AND A MICROSOFT WARNING SAID IT WAS NOT AN APPROVED FILE AND COULD DESTABILIZE MY SYSTEM! Very scary!!!

This has done wonders for me and is free and over the internet. This also supports many more file types, is just as quick, and you dont have to download anything.

All in all, not a bad giveaway, but I’ll probably uninstall it. It just doesn’t do anything to make it worth dealing with the unsigned driver and all the potential issues it poses. (no, I didn’t have any trouble with it – yet)

The deal-killer for me is this: most people who listen to audio files on the computer or a portable player already have the files in MP3 format. The main ones that aren’t – iTunes, RealAudio, Audible.com’s .aa format – MuvAudio2 doesn’t handle. Let’s face it – how many people do YOU know with enormous libraries of .OGG tunes?

If you use it and like it, great. Like I said, it’s not a bad piece of software for free. (I’m particularly impressed that the author or an agent actually showed up here in the forums to provide personal support) But I just can’t understand why anyone would pay for it. To me, it doesn’t provide any real value at all.

I use a freeware player called VLC Media Player that plays just about anything – video or audio – with the exception of RealAudio files, which is why converters aren’t high on my list of handy tools.
