As a music composer student at the Master's College, this program is so beneficial to me and to my education. Thanks so much, and now all my music major friends are jealous!

I have trouble registering the software. Tried everything all the others have mentioned above : (1) run setup first then activate; (2) activate first then run setup next; (3) did (1) when magicscore was open and (4) did (2) when both magicscore and Word were close and (5) other permutations of (1) to (4). Still the Registration tab says: If you want to use all opportunities of "Magic Score" you have to register. Name: Giveaway of the Day. Serial key [this is blank]. Please exit the program after entering a key! And at the bottom the tab says: Buy Now / Cancel Big Question: How does register this giveaway? Thanks!

For those of you using Office 2007, you only need to click on the Add In button on the ribbon and then click on the small icon at the top of the LARGE button on the Add In ribbon. This will insert the beginning of a staff. Double click the staff and you're ready to go! I had clicked and clicked the large button with no results until I finally moved the cursor over the tiny icon and clicked on it.

I can't figure out how to start this program. There's no desktop shortcut. There's no .exe file in the program folder and no other clear application file except the uninstall file.

I tried opening it from within MS Word, still nothing in the program folder to open it. I tried "insert" in MS Word, nothing from this program shows up as a choice to select.

HOW DO YOU RUN THIS DAMN THING????

To anyone whose been haing problems getting the program to work. Once activated and installed I was initially at a loss as to what to do. Everytime I clicked on the Magicscore object icon that had installed itself into the toolbar after installation all I got was the beginning of a score, but nothing else. I couldn't find anything else that would indicate where I could add notations etc to the score. So I posted a comment above asking if I required other Magicscore programs to run it. All I see from that point on (though not directed at myself) are sarcastic self effacing comments that denigrate other users but nothing really helpful in answering the many questions community members have posted.

Well, thankfully I persevered and found that by clicking on the actual score that appears when you click on the Magic Score object icon the actual program opens up. I hope this clarifies the situation for those who like me were having problems seeing anything but the score lines.

As a regular sibelius user, I am not sure how useful this would be to me or to my students. I use it a lot for various publication projects, as you can see...

http://www.squidoo.com/sibeliuscomposer

Embedding graphics into Word makes for big files and slow transfer. You would most likely then convert your .doc to pdf. You could print music directly from sibelius, finale or any other programme with acrobat distiller or cute pdf as your default printer to produce something much more easily shared via email or webpage.

All the best,

OK, I know I'm a late-comer on this. It installed and works in Office 2007 on WinXP SP3. Stiull no registration number, but it says it's registered to Giveaway of the day, that may by how they figured out to allow registration, without allowing updates. I don't know this as a certainty, and haven't seen anything to suggest it, nor do I submit that it is an elegant solution to the issue.
Anyway, there seems to be quite a learning curve on this one, and I'm glad to see that it's not just me.
For everyone that asked about OpenOffice.org, look at this site http://ooolilypond.sourceforge.net/

Same comment as #36. "Giveaway of the day" is shown on the registration screen, but the serial number spaces are blank. I haven't tried to do anything with the program, so I don't know if its capabilities actually are limited as the registration screen indicates, but I have to assume that they are. Does a serial number show on the registration screen on others' successful installations?
