Hi there! Thanks a bunch to all the staff of GOTD. I really like this stuff you had for free... but unfortunately, I wasn't able to catch up with the time of its availability. I just hope it will be posted again for a free download. I actually tried the trial version and I found it helpful. For sure, guys out there wouldn't like my request... well, we'll see :) hmmmmmm, thanks again!

Leave Old Password blank and enter a New Password and Confirm the new password. That's how you get past the Password window. It's really not that complicated.

I gotta agree with #110. As a matter of fact I tried this program on my 10 yr old cousin and she managed to shut it off after 5 min of not noticing it. 1 more reason I'm agreeing with #110 is from what he said in his brag comment is me all over lol (although I wouldn't post a 5-10 line comment about me though....).

Also I wanna see what the strong xml tag does...

Although I activated before installing anything, I get the Password window as well. Nothing is given as an old password so as to proceed. Thus, the program goes no further than the Password window.

K, #110? A) You're not impressing anybody. B) You don't even bring up a valid point! you think that your parents would be ok with you shutting off this program if they wanted it running?? A bunch of guys at my church, including almost all of the pastors, are signed up with a program called XXX church.com which has a downloadable applet similar to this one, with the exception that its sole purpose is to moniter where the people go on the internet. It logs whenever it is shut down, and the guys have an agreement that if the program is ever shut down, they are assumed to be looking at porn. Other entities could come up with similar agreements. If the program is shut off, the worst must be assumed. This is a great product and service with which GOATD is providing us. Don't be hatin', foo!

Thank you #84. I did activate it before installing the client setup - and almost everything I thought needed to make it work since I really need using this program, you know. But it's just of no use. I quit - after having tried the nth time. Thank you for your concern.
Thank you #73 and #95 for mentioning www.logmein.com and UltraVNC. I'll try these two programs instead.
And thank you GAOTD anyway.

Hello,

I'd just like to point out that any kid over 10 years old can turn this off if they know about it, and some kids will find it and kill it even if you don't tell them you're installing it on their computer. I'm 14, and I can assure you that my parents wouldn't be gaining anything by trying to monitor me with this piece of software. And while I'll admit I'm a little more paranoid and tech-savvy then the average kid, it still isn't an effective tool. Spend a little money for something a little better if you're looking for parental control, but even then if your kid knows a lot about computers, it's a lost cause. There is ALWAYS a way to get around ANYTHING.

Just my 2 cents for the parents out there :)

For the easily amused, setting up both a client and manager on the same PC and watching the manager make smaller and smaller images of itself every few seconds is kinda fun.

Similar to the infinite cat project.

Given the negative comments, I'm debating whether to even test this. I have an old Win98 box that's networked, but its TCP/IP software is messed up to the point that I'd have to do a full wipe/reinstall to fix it (not worth my time), so I use a KVMA switch. In the meantime, in addition to the whiners, we have the French insulting each other to keep us amused. Hilarious!

Hello again everyone ;)

Thank you GOTD, but again - no thanks. I pop in here each day, read BladedThoth's (thank you so much!) review, then either leave or download the software.

It's just too difficult to wade through a lot of the pure garbage and totally nonconstructive comments provided by many here.

Is there even a moderator? (There should be.)

We've used UltraVNC for the longest time now, which is FREE and can be used as a monitoring software and remote access control. Our kids have two computers upstairs, and my husband and I have two computers side by side in our home office, and it's a tremendously useful tool for keeping our children (very early teens,) safe from harm.

They've not long been allowed to use a chat program for the first time, and while we've spent a lot of time, educating them on the dangers of talking to strangers via chat programs, they are at that age where they feel they know way more than their parents.

Remember that feeling? ;)

MultiWatch has an added functionality of random screen shots, but I don't feel that it (the screen shots,) justifies a $50 price tag, when you can find freeware which allows you to see real time what your kids are up to.

Thank you again GOTD, but as I said, "no thanks." I'll see what's offered tomorrow. ;)

Thank you Valixsoft for your contribution to this website. I hope you ignore some of the ingrates you see here and see value in some of the constructive comments made by truly grateful people.

Till tomorrow all ;)
~ Swan

#61 & #78 - excellent insight! A program like this is a welcome assistant in an effort to protect our children. Children have parents precisely because they need someone to watch over them, help, guide, and protect them from dangers they don't yet recognize.("don't play in the street", "don't get in a car and go help the man find his lost puppy", etc.) Unfortunately today we parents have to watch to protect our children on the computer also. And, just as theives don't like well lit parking lots & Lojack, predators don't want people having access to tools like this. Thanks to GaOTD for offering this. It shows you are equal opportunity as recently you offered something to help people hide their computer activity.

And remember, Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you...

First, I must agree that if you don't have a use for it, then GO AWAY. Stop being so greedy.

Second, Thanks to GOTD for providing this free program. I have 4 comps at home on a LAN and my family is often asking me for help, which usually involves running back and forth to fix things. I just installed this and now have realtime monitoring of the 3 PCs that I don't normally use. I know it will come in handy soon.

One quesiton though: I activated the software before I installed it, but it still says it is a demo. Is this proper? I'm used to getting the full version on this site. No biggie - just wondering so I can fix it before the time runs out if need be.

Thanks again GOTD!

To #78:

You know ... you could find just about *anything* to be involved in a disappearance. The same thing happened with games like Dungeons and Dragons. It's not the internet's fault that the parents aren't more involved in their child's life. Do not blame the internet for mental illness and neglect on the part of the parent.

I'm not saying that you are a bad parent. I'm not saying that people who have missing children are bad parents. I'm just saying that if they take a look at the family life before the online life, they might get to the root of the problem a lot faster.

Thanks for another great giveaway, GAOTD! :)

Another spy program! C'mon, GOTD: We may be a bunch of ingrates, but we're not THAT paranoid. :)

I think network administrators ought to have software like this already, (but maybe they don't). They should be able to write a script file to do this, shouldn't they? They should be able to keep tabs on their network with the log files, if nothing else. If they see 'sol.exe' in the log that should be good enough for them to know that their user is probably playing solitaire instead of doing that spreadsheet they also have open. A screenshot shouldn't be necessary, but shouldn't be hard to get if it is. Besides, at home--who should really care who's playing games? There are undoubtedly much better ways to spy on our children than with this.

But, thanks anyway. Maybe some people have a use for it. I'll just come back tomorrow.

Fantastic program!
I believe #61 has said it all, almost. As a mother of 6 grown boys (all avid computer users), I could have used this program while they were growing up. Instead, I had to rely on checking the history of the computer sites visited. That is until they learned how to erase the history after each session. I am very lucky my boys were careful when speaking to anyone on the net. Some parents aren’t so lucky; their children talk to and sometimes meet these people from the net. Some never make it home from these meetings. Then you see headlines like this: "BODY OF TEEN FOUND IN WOODED AREA, INTERNET FOUND TO BE INVOLVED, POPULAR CHAT GROUP WAS USED TO LURE TEEN TO DEATH". This is not something I wanted to happen to my boys, and many people can benefit from this software, as I could have. If you can not see a way to benefit personally then politely decline the download. But don't complain about it. Because programs like this is what helps to keep our countries youth alive and unharmed from the predators of our society. And it allows parents to actively monitor the safety of their children’s web surfing without having to stand over their shoulders.

GOTD, I appreciate your efforts to bring good useful programs to the public and for FREE. Some programs like this have been needed for years and you’re giving it away free, Thank you and Bless you! From our Family of Law enforcement officers, we give you “hats off”, and a special thank you.

Looks like this could be a useful tool; I could use it to monitor kids 'n grandkids as they (theoretically) research information for homework assignments while cloistered, quiet as can be, in the computer room.

You know, I'm amazed by the number of 'homework assignments' related to World of Warcraft, Adventure Quest and Dragon Fable ... o->-
