Cut out images perfectly, mount them neatly, and remove distracting elements!

The purpose of this specialized program is to find all music duplicates on your computer and remove useless files from your hard drive. As this program performs just this single task it copes with it much better than other more universal programs. Unlike the other programs for duplicate files search, our program works only with mp3, wma, ogg and m4a files. This allows using specific methods for duplicates detection.

While most of universal duplicates finders use such criteria as file size and file name, this program uses the artist name and title of the composition from ID3 tag for comparison. If the mp3 file doesn't have filled tags, the program tries to determine such information from the file name.

This program can find either mp3 files with completely equal tags or with similar but not exactly equal tags. You can have a lot remixes and variations of any song or any song can be performed by various artists.

This program will help you detect all these mp3 files and decide what you want to do with them - leave, delete or move to another place.

"I have installed the new v2.6 through the link in #71. The program does not crach any more, but it does not remove the files selected for deletion. It just remanes them to a long hexadecimal filename without extension, and marks them hidden. This seams like a bad joke? The files have to be proberly deleted, or at least moved to Recycle Bin. This method does not free up any disc space, just makes it even harder to find the files eating up the disc space."

The program just renames the duplicates when you tell to delete it
first time. This allows you to restore deleted by mistake files or to
delete it forever when you will start program next time. The many peoples asked us how to restore files deleted by mistake. To prevent the accidental deleteion we add this feature. This is not a bug this is a feature.

Hope this is just a mistake, and that Abee Tech will provide a v2.7 for us which will actually removes the files, in stead of hiding them.

I downloaded, installed and tried to use it. It went through the directory and found several dups but when I tried to delete them I got a message saying there was a bug in the program and I should download the latest version, which, of courst, I couldn't. Total garbage.

Abee Mp3 duplicates finder simply does not do what it says it does!

In fact when i tested it on a hard drive which i knew contained no duplicate songs, but a number of tracks with very similar titles ie selction1 oldiescd1 and selection1 oldiescd2 but with very different file sizes and times, it found about 20 sets of triple songs, NONE were correct.

I was to say the least VERY disappointed yet quite glad i never purchased it for $20. I will not be recommending it to any of my friends :(

Addendum: re downloaded. It now stutters along passably, though does still pop up with the odd error that read as more annoying than anything else. What's nice about the program is that since it only reads very specific files, the odds of you deleting the odd .ini file non existent. I'm afraid it doesn't cover up for the lack of folder viewing options, the narrow music type selection, and an interface overall less user friendly than the previously mentioned dupkiller.

Hello, peoples.
Thanks for the critique and bug detecting.
We fixed the bug, which was detected by many GAWOTD peoples.
Additionally, we detected, that the GAOTD-registration not worked in the some cases. We fixed this problem too.
You can download a new version from our website
http://abeetech.com/mp3-duplicates-finder/download.php

This version also will work with a GAWOTD key.

This program did not find even a quarter of the duplicate music files on my computer. I even purposely made duplicate files and it did not find them. That fact alone makes this a big thumbs down.

The software in these past couple of days haven't been that good. Perhaps GOTD should have something like an AdBlocker (not a PopUp blocker). Or perhaps Win Vista =D heh

Harry(#27): I have downloaded some excellent software from GOTD over the past seven months. And more often than not I've found Bladed Thoth's reviews very helpful. This does not make me a "sucker" any more than it makes them "suckers" for offering software to try out or reviewing that software as part of a business enterprise. And as long as their "agendas" aren't harmful in some way (and I don't see how they are), I wish them all the best.

And for crying out loud, Archangel(#53), will you stop and think before you post. If for no other reason than to stop making a fool of yourself. Get acquainted with the site and those you wish to target before you go shooting that mouth off.
Failing that, at least change your name to something less comically grandiose. Perhaps Pippi. Or Woo-Hoo. I'm just trying to help you out, kid.

BladedThoth's review's are invaluable for several reasons. #1 Reliability: the review goes up early every day unless otherwise noted on the previous day. #2 Accurate: I've been following this site for 8 months , every day, and have parallel experiences that BladedThoth describes. #3 This guy is humble enough to admit where he's not an expert but let's us know when software is in a terrain that he's proficient in. I click on his link first now, before scrolling through the comments.

It installed just fine. It also found duplicate flies, but when I tried to delete the file, I got a access violation in module something and address something. Then something about duplicateLocator.exe or something like that. Never was I able to remove any files. I give this program a big fat ZERO!

Id3-tag comparisment. Isn't any mediabrowser suppose to do that?

dupeGuru allows you to do the exact opposite: Search for mp3-files by comparing only the music data, and skipping the tags.

I just use Media Monkey man, it finds dupes and no hassle or worries of it deleting precious music files. but for straight out music on the go i use Foobar2000 i can send my friends text file of all my music numbered songs we can get together and play some online.

A while ago GotD published the program called Clone Terminator.
It searched for ALL duplicate files, so mp3, wma, but also avi and doc, jpeg, etc.

It was easier to use, and was way more effective.

Nice find, but that other one was better. I hope that it will come again, for the people who didn't got to download that one :)

Still, ty, and keep up the good work!

A suggestion to #53 Archangel : if you think it is more valuable to have one's comment in a dedicated webpage instead of here and that BladedThoth is very pretentious because of his way of posting, why don't you allow yourself such an advantage ?
Go ahead and post a link to your comment on your very own website! You sir are no more than BladedThoth, so why not posting like him ?

I just want to reemphasize a point : BladedThoth is not just posting comment, he is, sort of, bond to post a comment each and everyday...
One day without BladedThoth is weird.

By the way, what's a day without Archangel ?

I didn't download this piece of software because I don't need it so no comment on that.

I have a suggestion to BladedThoth. I think the people here test the software just like you do. They post there comments here for all to see including the software writers.

If your opinion is so valuable that you post a link to your site, why don't you just email the link to the company that posted the giveaway and see if they find your evaluation valuable?

You sir, are no more than any of us.

I don't understand the critisism of 'negative' feedback. Surely negative comment, provided it's objective, accurate and not obusive, is just as useful as saying that the software is the best thing since sliced bread?

It seems like the Vista people are having performance problems. I use XP and completed a scan of >12,000 files in less than 5 minutes on a C2D @ 2.8 - This GOTD does a good job of finding duplicate MP3 files and found a bunch of duplicates that I chose to take care of manually since people have mentioned that it deletes wrong files and I just don't want to take a chance. A BIG PLUS is that it uses the audio tag information so that it even finds the same song if the filename AND the size are different which Duplicate File Finder will not do! It just saved me a lot of work and filespace on my 40gb mp3 player since I have everything on my PC synced with it. I can now store 400 more songs that were duplicated. If you have a lot of MP3s and do not use Vista - this is a handy freebie.

#16 - It isn't the negative comments that are unappreciated, it is the lack of intelligent criticism you offer. Your comment "It’s crap that usually sells for 19 USD." is not helpful. If you don't like something, say why you don't like it. This mp3 duplication program crashes a lot and was conceived poorly. There are other better programs that are quicker and easier to run.

# Ever had such an annoying message given by Windows?

It has many other flavors:

Cannot delete file: Access is denied
There has been a sharing violation.
The source or destination file may be in use.
The file is in use by another program or user.
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.

As well, I hope we all put the last few days behind us. We'll blame this on that anonymous poster "Norwood Enterprises" - While I understand not everyone will agree with my posts or like the way I do my reviews, I try to be as open-minded on my end. As with yesterday's review and many others, even if the application is of no use to me normally, I still review the application from a standpoint that it may be useful to me and others.

I think my words were taken incorrectly; I stated that yesterday's software title was the most useful screensaver GotD's given away - What I was meaning that compared to all the mediocre 3D screensavers that are seriously overpriced for normal purchase, this one actually had a use to it besides chewing up power, CPU and GPU time. I could see someone using it as I mentioned on a Virtual PC or another rig; As mentioned, it should be more of a standalone application that you could throw on a second monitor for just parusing RSS feeds while you work on your main display.

As well, I wanted to mention to those others curious about the relationship between myself and GotD. I have been doing posts for a while, and I felt since I usually didn't get my review in until about 6pm PST, buried around 50 posts in each day, that people who may benefit from my review weren't seeing them. I approached GotD and simply asked if they would link higher in the page when I completed the review each day. They agreed, and now they simply watch for my review to pop up each day. There is no financial exchange at all; We do not know each other IRL or before this site. While I can't speak for the GaotD team, I know I wanted to do this so that you, the readers (Both people coming for giveaways as well as the writers giving us the giveaways) had the ability to read a review of the product most days that was not from the author of the title or someone within the loop of the giveaway process. That is the extent of our 'relationship' - I post a link to my review each day and they place it up top. If GaotD wants to mention why they chose this option, they can and I will not put words in their mouth. I know my motivation was to give the GotDers a chance at hearing another voice on the application.

Hope this clears things up and doesn't start more flame wars - I don't want more flame wars. I know we all have different opinions; I respect the ones put logically forth such as Kevin R. Martin's and Phil's even if they do not match mine because everyone is an individual and have their own thoughts. I do hope we can put this behind us; We (I) need to learn to ignore people like "Norwood Enterprises" with unsubstantiated drivel and won't show their faces; and those who pose as others. :)

If you are not happy with the apps offered, maybe you try to help GAotD to make their service more attractive to the Software Companies. Don't expect them to give us all the best apps for free if we don't give anything back. Remember "the first law of economics": There is no such as a free lunch. Sure they give the apps for free, but we need to give good feedback. Good feedback is not just to say that it's a nice app, or not, or that I don't like todays app, give me so and so instead. If we continue like that we will soon only have screensavers and updates every day.

Look at BladedThoth. He provides a realy great job, testing and commenting. He call it "15 Minute Review", but it must take at least 15 minutes just to type and make the Web page, then at least half an hour to testing. Great job BladedThoth. Really appreciated.

I suggest we all try to help GAotD to give the developers a little more back for their "free" gift. I don't mind if we get apps like today, which need a bit more debuging, but I whould appreciate if it says so in the description. We should all do out best to send the error reports back, not just delete them as #18 did. Then we can get the same app as a a update, with "all" the bugs fixed. And we can just blame ourself if it still fails if we did not report the bugs. Maybe we get apps that need testing during weekends, since we have more time for testing then.

Hi all this is my first time posting here, and i would just like to say that i see a lot of people saying "we should be greatfull" that we are getting software for free.

But from what i can see the purpose of this site is for software developer's to try out their software and receive feed back.

So it seems to me that all feedback weather positive or not should be welcomed by all. If people find a piece of software buggy and usless they should be able to say so without being called ungrateful whiners.

By the same token if someone finds the same piece of software useful, then their feed back would be just as welcome to said developer's to enable them to gauge the reaction to their software.

So in short i say whine if you like, be positive if you like, be critical if you like, as all comments should (and most likely would) be taken on board by the developer's, to enable them to see if they are heading down the right path. (end rant) :)

I think it found a little under 5000 files to compare in "My Music". When it started to compare I opened my Outlook Express to read my mail. Trying to do this or anything else while MP3 dup is running is an exercise in patience as it uses 93 to 99 % of my cpu. Maybe if I had a dual 4G Xeon system ...

Anyway, when I closed OE I had the mp3 titlebar back again, but with my OE page still displayed. At some point (maybe right from the beginning) the title bar was saying "Not Responding", but the taskmanager still showed it maxing out my cpu.

After about three hours of no respose I finally killed it and will uninstall. Maybe it would be a good program to run overnight, but it's definitely not adapted to a multitasking environment.

I'm a bit surprised this got through beta testing -- unless this is free so a lot of us will do the beta testing for them without all the complicated agreement forms.
