I thought it's already built-in Microsoft Office 2007 (with an extra download "Save as PDF and XPS"). I don't see the point because the one that come with MS Office is quite good - with PDF/A option, links, and bookmarks (via heading or bookmarks). I'd rather use a PDF-Printer like Bullzip (free with minimal interface and no nags) for all other software (no links, though).

Useless to me, I can convert PPT to PDF using Microsoft Office 2007, or some free PDF creators like Google docs, open office, cutePDF etc. There are many free alternatives can make it. It doesn't worth $29.95. Last time AnyBizSoft giveaway PDF to Powerpoint converter, that is more useful than this. http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/anybizsoft-pdf-to-powerpoint-converter/#more-9369

@ Skye-hook, #3 Beware! During setup it wants to go online to check for updates!”
Program installed without any problems on XP Professional + SP2, with 4 extra IE8 windows open and 3 Office programs running, medium to high protection levels. Perhaps you misinterpreted the program’s opening screen? I finished installation with “start up on finish”, got the register form window all filled in and closed the application (of course asking me to confirm exit)…
Have to check out it’s functionality and availability of a manual or on board help. I guess online help will be available but online support not (two different things althogether – online support is –understandibly- seldom or never available through GOTD). I feel pretty confident this tool will come in handy without much clicking about with no result.

@ gratis, #10 : “Hello, just wanted to know what this does that Microsoft Office 2007 does not do?”
No idea… Perhaps some of the things XP Professional has never done? Having a nice toolbox available without having to purchase a new OS from MS is OK with me, seeing what MS does to it’s customers (Win7 does come very quickly after Vista release, don’t you think, especially after MS claimed it has been developing Vista for over 7 years…some three years ago – or something like that. Some of us do remember Win2000 and Milennium ;-)

@ Pradip K Bhakat, #11 : “Open Office.org”
Now that’s what I call good software ànd for free! Did (still does) some nice things even before MS Office ever considered the market potential for PDF-format!

@ Exemplar,#14 : “Foxit and novaPDF do not print, they create a pdf file”
I clearly remember during install that the program does not support Foxit, it even suggests to turn Foxit off before continuing installation… On the other hand, if this program creates a PDF-file then that is exactly what it is supposed to do, so that you can view future printed output on screen. Isn't that nice? I myself do not want to waste expensive paper and ink...

@ KenyanPhoenix, #19 - #15 Cornyfleur
Cornyfleur: I don’t see any problem unless you don’t have at least Adobe PDF Reader 3.0 already installed. You don’t need any extra hardware (e.g a "PDF Printer/Copier from PDF Corp" - sorry, does not exist... LOL). PDF Reader is just a printer driver, a small program that (among others) sends instuctions to your printer so that what you see on your screen is exactly the same as what your printer gives on paper…
Kenyan : “sneaked in” - ??? – I don’t know about that, but I notice “High Compatibility with Adobe Acrobat 3.0/4.0/5.0” and nothing above that…(as Numer Al Wan, #12 – already indirectly pointed out). I’m running Adobe Reader 9… and PPT2PDF has not deleted that version to replace it with one of the older ones ;-). Perhaps they should have built in an option or a warning at least, but what would be the use of that unless the user has an incompatible Acrobat version installed (lower than 3.0 that would be). Besides: anyone using PDF on a regular basis…
And why convert something from A to B if you can’t see the result anyway? I would want to see what B looks like. A “blind conversion”? Only for batchprocessing in a business environment after thorough testing! And even then….
But you do have a point here. And I’m also not in for a “backdrop” to Adobe-less-than-9 just to test this here program. I’ll see what it does when the time comes and when it doesn’t do what I expect from it then I’ll kow about compatibility problems [and put the blame on myself] ;-)

@ Sherri; #23 : “Is this a way (or is there any other way?) to make a .pdf that keeps the hyperlinks “clickable”?”
You may try Visagesoft PDF Creator 5 (trial version via http://www.visagesoft.com/products/pdfx/ ) which I installed through GOTD some time ago – that is: if I remember correctly ;-) But I don!t know about PPT2PDF here. I never had any use for hyperlinks in a presentation myself...

To all: PDF has become standard for all sorts of publications and certainly for scientists and business people. Full functionality in one pack comes at a price, as all good commercial software does. Combining some free PDF-tools however gets you very close and mostly does what the average home or hobby user needs… But that is no news now, is it ;-)

Greetz!

I completely agree with #22. I use PDF creator, freeware, no frills, but converts anything. I tried using this Movea print driver and got an error. Upon using it's own uninstall, it still leaves the print driver on your computer. This is not good housecleaning for a self contained uninstall option. A self contained uninstall should get rid of everything, drivers, registry entries, dll's, ini files and so forth.

You are correct. If you use Microsoft Office 2007 with its latest service packs/updates installed, you now have the option to save to PDF directly in Powerpoint, Word etc and this application is not required.

Hi all!!

Today's giveaway looks good and useful but only for those using OFFICE as printable document application.

A more comprehensible application, capable of converting whatever printable document (so not just Windows documents) to a professional PDF file of very high quality, is a tool called “7-PDF MAKER” that, according to GIZMO's Freeware Team, seemed to be the best and more comprehensible PDF CONVERTER out there:

http://www.7-pdf.de/

Or here:

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Office-tools/PDF/7-PDF-Maker.shtml

In fact, 7-PDF MAKER not only can convert a wide range of files in other formats (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, OpenOffice, StarOffice, Jpg, TIFF, BMP images, text or HTML webpages) to high quality PDF files but, unlike other virtual PDF printer such as today’s giveaway, the PDF files converted by 7-PDF MAKER contain clickable hyperlinks and bookmarks: amazing for a FREE SOFTWARE, isn’t it??

The only drawback is the size of its installer: 60.7 MB (what the hell?? LOL!!) but in my view it’s definitely worth downloading.

Enjoy!!
