I know it's too late - just wanted to say I tried to install this (I have Outlook 07) ... and although it seemed to install OK... I can't find it, it didn't add anything in to OL, and basically.. it ain't there.

I'm going to contact the developer at some point.

PS - This IS a BETA.

#15- I do not know how much time you are using computer, but it seems not be too much.
I know very well what viruses and malwares are.
~15 years ago, between 94 and 96, when Netscape was just 90% of the browsers market and Outlook was just starting (as well as Internet Explorer) I have started using Outlook and IE. This was till 2000.
During this experience I got around 20 virus attacks on my computers exactly through failures from Outlook.
At that time the antivirus were not like today.
I had Norton that, differently of today, was able to protect.
At that time Microsoft had at least one new patch for Outlook everyweek (or everyday).
Sorry, but to me Outlook is not a safe working place.

#21 John: There's a free little program called gmail backup which automatically downloads your entire gmail including labels etc. You can even use it to transfer all of your data to a different email address. you can get it here http://www.gmail-backup.com/download

"You can manage all of your tasks, appointments, contacts, emails and files in one central location all from within Outlook"
Couldn't you already do this with Outlook? I use Outlook at work and it's got all my emails (obviously), appointments, contacts and tasks.

If I did use outlook (which I do not) I couldn't see having a use for this program.

15's point is that if a person runs a trustworthy antivirus program, virus's wouldn't get in, period. And he is right.

Think of it this way: let's say you're on a highway and another vehicle loses control and bullets towards you. Surely that vehicle coming at you is now a weapon.

What makes you less likely to be injured, the strength and design of YOUR vehicle or the highway you are driving on when he hits you??

As for this program, I do not use Outlook because I just don't use email enough to merit the installation of an email program. But I love coming to this site every day to see what is being offered!!!

Have a good day ppl.

I use Thunderbird & G-Cal.
I despise Outlook. Microsoft eventually addresses some of its default security vulnerabilities.

You can't assume that Anti-virus software will handle viruses or malware in the mail. This is a plugin for Outlook which is a trusted program and obviously has the ability to send and receive data over the Internet. Microsoft addresses security issues for Outlook but not third party plugins.

If someone managed to hijack this program they would be able to exploit Outlooks trusted status to bypass AV and firewall security. Unfortunately Moore Software Solutions has nothing on their site describing there security measures, hopefully this was taken into account during development, but as I said you can't assume.

I like the idea of this kind of software, there are a lot of people that have needs in this field.
however I am using jello Dashboard, which if freeware, and very good for managing projects in MS Outlook.
http://jello-dashboard.net/

In jello you can organize tasks in projects, and you can have a clear view what tasks you have in every project.

#6 - Once you open Tags from the menu, just click in the top left box and a cursor will appear where you can name a tag. Then you can choose the type: System, email, file, contact; now write a description and click OK to save it. Now you have another Tag in the list. To delete a Tag, just highlight the Tag row and press the delete button on your keyboard.

#13 Viruses on your machine were not a product or sub product of Outlook. Outlook handles mail. Anti-virus software handles viruses in the mail. If you got viruses then you should be looking to change your AV software as it obviously is not working!

#13 Yup I go with you on these points. Not really a lot of use.

On my System I'm running Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003. Outlook comes with this Office Suite with all the Tools being mention here and more and everything is in a Professional Sense so I don't see any need of Downloading Today's Give Away for anyone that is running this Edition of Microsoft Office. As always Thanks anyway.

I do not use Outlook, or better, I hate Outlook.
90% of all virus and invasions I had in my machines in the past were mainly product, or subproduct, from Outlook.
I think like #8. Google/Gmail, at this moment, is the solution.
Anyway, thanks GAOTD.

#4: You and I (and Moore Solutions, for that matter!) clearly have very different ideas of what 'project management' software is.

To me, project management means the ability to allocate, track, and manage resources and tasks. A better description of today's giveaway would be a 'personal project organiser' because all it does is GROUP Outlook items together. Does it tell you (e.g.) how many of your developers are working on any tasks today, or tomorrow, or next week? Can it make tasks dependent (e.g. task B cannot start until task A ends)? Does it give you a timeline chart, showing your project tasks or resources (or selected items)? Simple answer to all of the above: NO.

And Zimbra Desktop (a Yahoo! product, incidentally), while it may be a viable replacement for Outlook if you're broke (or don't want to use Outlook for whatever reason), also does NOT contain any of those REAL project management features. Perhaps it can 'group' existing items as today's GOTD does (I only had a quick look at its feature list); but again, it does NOT contain what any project manager would call project management facilities.

I'm confused ..."Please comment only on the software here. If you have technical problems...use the forum"

I feel that the software although pretty and very interesting, is somewhat buggy. Outlook crashed and the only way I could stop the process was by using Task Manager. Most of the MissingLink Project text input fields in the add-on at the bottom of the email were missing. Now is that a comment on the software functionality or a technical problem?

I suspect the former, but this comment will doubtless receive multiple thumbs down, even though I would prefer the developer to do what he has done in so many other places on the Web - restore my faith in this software before I uninstall it.

I need Outlook to SYNC with my Windows Mobile (v6) PDA. As the PDA syncs with the Outlook file, would it work with this program which seems to use a different database?

Well, I don't use Outlook, but if I did, I probably wouldn't use this because it "offloads all of your email messages, files, and attachments to an industry-standard database system", so you're in trouble if they don't keep it updated for new versions of Windows, etc., depending upon just how "industry-standard". Further, you wouldn't be able to use the considerable capabilities of Windows Search 4, which has specific support for Outlook, including future dates (for scheduled items; when I first saw future-date support, I thought the tech-writers goofed--"great, I can search for files which don't exist yet").

For #5 and anyone else who is a heavy Gmail user, you might be interested in reading this for some ideas. I keep an eye on Google Labs so I'm sure they're working on launching all the program management stuff we want.

Feedback question for developer :
I rely heavily on tags (aka keywords). There is NOTHING in the help file about tags, I have searched the sub-menus, and even though there is a "Tag" option on the main toolbar that brings up a popup "Tag Listing" box, I can do nothing with this apart from re-order the 2 tags in there.

How do I add tags(apart from the 2 pre-installed) in this program?

Sadly, this looks terrif, but I'm really more of a Thunderbird/Firefox and Gmail user :/ I truly hope that someday there'll be support/versions for those as well :)

Otherwise Thank you, this is some of the types of software I'm extremely interested in. ^_^

At the risk of receiving many thumbs-down votes, I would like to share this valuable resource with everyone (for your benefit):

Zimbra Desktop is a 100% FREE Open Source full e-mail desktop suite for those of you who do not have or want to use Outlook (and therefore would not be able to download today's GiveAway). Zimbra Desktop supports Windows, MAC, and Linux Operating Systems.

Zimbra Desktop also provides Project Mangement Functionality (like today's GiveAway) and allows for Yahoo and Google/Gmail calendar and address book support/integration, as well as POP-3 (including Outlook) and IMAP4 support/integration.

Click Here for detailed features comparison between Zimbra Desktop, Outlook, and Thunderbird Mail Programs.

I hope this Open Source option is beneficial for those of you who are looking for viable alternatives to today's GOTD GiveAway.

Best regards,
Happy Person

The idea is great: I like being able to centralise all in one location.

Unfortunately, there seems to be a bug in the appointments view, so that it shows the week of March 2. This makes the appointments list basically useless.
As you cannot configure the project details pane either, you are stuck wih a calendar that doesn't work. Which means I still need to keep my Outlook to do bar open for my weekly planning - a waste of space.

If anyone knows of a way to ensure the appointments list shows today/this work week, I might actually keep using the tool...

I would have thought this would be just what so many of you were looking for. Just think all the work you can get done in one place.
It does as it sais it does so grab it and just think you saved about fifty bucks. Better get it while you can.

The Good
* Acts like a plugin for Outlook making it a easier, in theory, to import/use contacts and e-mails you have already inputted into Outlook.
* Integrates with Outlook so when you create a task, appointment, etc. you can add it to MLPM also.
* Allows you to create unlimited projects and projects within projects.
* Has a built in search tool allowing you to search your projects for specific things.
* Has a feature allowing you to choose what "state" the project is in (green, yellow, red being the symbolic colors).

The Bad
* You must have Outlook to use.
* Poorly programmed.
* Not fully integrated into Outlook.
* The method to add in already created contacts, tasks, appointments, e-mails, etc. is rather annoying at times.
* No option to set the start and end times for projects.
* No "normal" importance/priority option.
* No MissingLink toolbar for "Notes" or "Journal".
* No real way to "share" the project progress/information with other project members (no sync like feature).

For final verdict, full review, and recommendations please click here.
