I appreciate all the comments, especially those that discuss the problems in detail. You have saved me a needless installation. My computer could use a rest anyway. And, I'm thankful that I already have the WonderShare Flash Gallery Factory Standard from GAOTD from a few weeks back, and that someone compared it to today's offering giving it a good review. I will stay with what I have, but as always, thanks, GAOTD.

Does a good basic job. It has clumsy file management, which makes navigating to the pictures a bit laborious. And there is no counter to tell you how many pictures you've added. (Many of the templates are number limited).
Worth having as a free programme? definitely.
Worth anything more than, say, $10?
Well I don't think so.

@13: Save your work as "swf+html", then edit the resulting HTML file. There are two appearances of width="720" height="540" in the HTML file. Change these to width="360" height="270" or width="540" height="405" (for example). After this, you shouldn't have any problems viewing the stuff on your netbook.

Flash slideshows, photo to Flash, not HTML5, not screensaver. Yes you have to click on the picture to enlarge it, that is because it's photo to flash, if you want a regular slideshow soft then get a regular slideshow soft. Way to many useless comments here about what the soft can't do. I could complain that it doesn't create flash banners, or I can't play mp3s with this, but that wouldn't make sense now would it.
Anyways, there could be more templates but other than that for $24 what it offers is fine. Software developers do need to make money. Yes it's simple, looks like it's meant to be.
Thanks GAOTD and mediAvatar.

#18: "1). Does anyone have a link to an example of where this would be used online, where I would be able to save a file for relatives to view?"

IMHO you'd probably want to set up a private page, then for that page just upload the html & swf files you Publish in Photo to Flash. The reasons I say private is 1) if it's any good the download bandwidth consumed could get expensive, & 2) there are Flash related issues you should normally be aware of if you're creating a public site. Beyond that see your web site hosting service's docs.

"2). Does this write a DVD that will play on standalone DVD players (Eg Nan without a PC)?"

No... About the only thing you could do is record images or video of the initial screen with all the thumbnails, then create links/buttons using them in your DVD or slideshow authoring app. Remember that DVD menu buttons are always static because you need to be able to use the remote. As an example [this will be some work -- but not really out of the ordinary for many hobbyists] you could create your project in Photo to Flash using the Carousel template, exporting to xml. 1) download the latest projector from Adobe & create a projector file *in the same folder with the .swf*. 2) Using screen capture software, play that projector & record video going from one thumbnail to every other thumbnail, e.g. #1 -> #2, #1 -> #3 etc. 3) Create your DVD using single frames from your recorded video for static menu pages, using the video going from 1 button to another as a transition video, i.e. the menu button starts the proper transition video, & the video's end action is to display the proper menu -- e.g. with the menu page with image #1 front & center, clicking on image #3 starts the video you recorded going from image #1 to #3, & the last thing that video does is bring up the menu page featuring image #3. Clicking the image #3 would bring up that photo -- clicking any other image would bring up another short video leading to a menu page.

That's the basics anyway... I can think of several options & variations, many depending on the software you used, but I think most DVD authoring apps should handle it. About the only extra work would be if your software let you create/import custom button highlights -- the part that *lights up* to tell you what on the DVD menu is selected. In that case you could optionally create highlights that matches the spiral pattern of images using that carousel template. And of course while I just talked about one template, you could do similar with others.

"3). Can you join short video AND photos alongside a music track?"

No - it will only import images.
