Same problem of #98 and #99. The registration and the "help" file have just disappeared. Now, only 6 day left on trial. Uninstalled it, but I wish I could keep the software. It is the second time a GAOTD offer have to be uninstalled because of registration issues.

I needed to re-boot my PC today for the first time since installing Smart PC and the software auto-starts by presenting the screen giving me the choice to "Enter Licensing key", "Buy Now", or "Continue". In the upper right corner of this screen it says "Trial time left: 13 day(s)". I choose Enter Licensing key and another window opens with the registration information still there. Click "apply" and it says "The registration info is incorrect" and suggests "Please try again". Basically, the registration is lost! Anyone else having this problem?

You can actually pretty much tweak the windows on your own to get this magic speed... and even more..with a litte work you do yourself....
If interested I could put a Step by step guide in here..
Little summary about what to do...
1- msconfig..... eliminate as much "startup" entries as u can. Computer will run as normal and even faster than usual. Only things to keep here are antivirus programs and in some cases some software for your hardware. And maybe a ram cleaning program also if u have one.
2- again msconfig... this time "services" tab (only if u have some idea about what u are doing)... U can pretty much disable more than 50% of the running services and even not notice the missing windows features- u simply do not use most of them never anyways..
----------------------------------
with these 2 steps u would have boosted your performance as much and maybe more than most of these "magic-cleaning-Boosting" programs....
My computer runs XP with SP2 and all updates- Using very little of my cpu-s processing power, and ~130-150Mb of ram. (with antivirus, hamachi, msn 8.1, ISP program, and some more).
With SP1 It is Possible to attain ram usage level of 80-90 Mb with antivirus running but this needs a bit more of trial and error tactics with the "MSconfig" program.
NOTE - ALL THE CHANGES ARE REVERSIBLE EASILY AND NO PERMANENT DAMAGE CAN BE MADE TO THE SYSTEM WITH THIS PROGRAM.
------------------------------------------------
3. spybot S&D - the very best there is in anti-spyware programs. Get to know this program , use it`s "immunize" capability and maybe even a Tea-timer if u have courage to test your skills on registry protection.
4. Lavasoft AD-Aware (free personal) - optional. Little more help with spyware on the way. not much use for this program exept pretty fast search and cleanup capability of cookies etc.
5. Hijackthis - Only for advanced users.... of ones with courage to experiment... (you´ll know what i mean When u mess up for the first time with this program) :-P
6. Avast Antivirus (or AVG if u like) .... u know how to handle these dont u?
-------------------------------------------------------
This part was mostly for computer security issues like spyware and viruses... (u know that u have some of these if u have used MSconfig extensively and your computer still slows down for no apparent reason and no traces of large memory and processor usage on task manager.
Additional ideas (not nessesarily feeware):
*Use NOD32 - the best there is if u want computer to run smoothly and protect at the same time. (expert settings for the most effect during the installation)
Do not use multiple active antivirus programs- seriously tampers with computer efficiency.
Do not use any prorgams that are introduced on pop-up pages or in webpage banners (they mostly have security holes for certain viruses.)
---------------------------------------------------------------
Additional possibilities:
*Iolo System mechanhic - 30 day trial
* Pc booster (inkline)
*Learn to know programs running on task manager
*Use "Advanced task manager" and it`s capabilities - not freeware.

Be brave and improvise, try by trial and error

Mail me if need suggestion....

I downloaded and used this program. I didn't find the registration key, so I didn't have the pleasure of using the program to see if it fully does what it advertises.

Probably too late now, but it'd be good if GAOTD stopped to think first when serving as a conduit for potentially dangerous software.

The post at #68 says it all.

God only knows what'll happen if that poster now rushes off to recommend this same "solution" to his similarly untutored friends.
