DAsAngel post 31
I wish you had posted your comment earlier.
If I had seen it, I would have downloaded and installed the program.

As it was, I was swayed by meagain's (Post 24) comment, and I was nervous about the quality. Thus I decided not to try it

Downloaded and installed easy.

Loaded in a dvd that is protected and it copied it in under 1 hour.

I used avi HD setting and the movie came out very nice, and just under 1 gig in size.

There may be other software out there that is free, and does more than this program, but this program does what it states, is quick enough doing it, and overall is a good one to have, especially for first timers.

The given price is over inflated though at the $49.99 price. I'd pay $19.99 for it, but just because it does what it says. With that being said, it is more a minimal program, and that's why it's not worth the asking price as it sits.

After comparison, I am definitely sticking with DVDFab. This program hard codes the subtitles and did not do so in a readable fashion whereas DVDFab put the subs in a separate file and were completely readable when engaged.

Hi, like Others said already - updates are not applicable to Giveaway Versions of Software, with few exceptions where Developers grant it (for a while I imagine) and it's safe. So don't be tempted with updates after giveaway period, or if GAOTD offers a past version (still perfectly usable), as accepting the update could un-register Software.

Having said that - if you're tempted with Longo DVD Soft to see if it's the last version - today you can, it will tell you it is, and your "about" stays intact with name and reg code you inserted earlier to register it (bring little reg boxes to full view, otherwise you won't see OK button)

Thanks for today's Giveaway:)

This Ripper seems OK, but for my needs I'll be passing on it. I just use WinX DVD Copy & Freemake Video Converter. So far I haven't had the need for anything else. Thanks Giovanni for all the other free choices. I must be getting too old or something. After spending a small fortune on a 55 inch LED/LCD 'smart' TV...why on earth would I want to watch a movie on a tiny phone or tablet?? Thanks GOTD for all the freebies.

Longo has poor customer service. I contacted them in regard to their DVD Copy software, and I received a return email in broken English, telling me there was no way to help me so I have to pay for a new version. In my experience, good customer service doesn't mean telling you to buy something you don't need, but rather making an effort to resolve the existing issue first. I resolved the issue myself, and will stick with the DVD Copy program, but will avoid adding more Longo products to my media software library because of the customer service issue.

I downloaded this the last time it was available. I currently use DVDfab.
The picture wasn't as clear as with dvd fab kind of grainey or it was dropping frames etc.
The copy time speed was much slower than DVD fab

The good news is, I had a dvd that dvdfab wouldn't copy and this program copied it.

so its well worth putting away for those times when its needed.

The current free version of WinX DVD Ripper is different from the paid version and does not rip to AVI. For that reason alone Longo DVD Ripper would be preferable.
