DAsAngel post 31
I wish you had posted your comment earlier.
If I had seen it, I would have downloaded and installed the program.

As it was, I was swayed by meagain's (Post 24) comment, and I was nervous about the quality. Thus I decided not to try it

Mutter, mutter,
Rob

Downloaded and installed easy.

Loaded in a dvd that is protected and it copied it in under 1 hour.

I used avi HD setting and the movie came out very nice, and just under 1 gig in size.

There may be other software out there that is free, and does more than this program, but this program does what it states, is quick enough doing it, and overall is a good one to have, especially for first timers.

The given price is over inflated though at the $49.99 price. I'd pay $19.99 for it, but just because it does what it says. With that being said, it is more a minimal program, and that's why it's not worth the asking price as it sits.

After comparison, I am definitely sticking with DVDFab. This program hard codes the subtitles and did not do so in a readable fashion whereas DVDFab put the subs in a separate file and were completely readable when engaged.

Hi, like Others said already - updates are not applicable to Giveaway Versions of Software, with few exceptions where Developers grant it (for a while I imagine) and it's safe. So don't be tempted with updates after giveaway period, or if GAOTD offers a past version (still perfectly usable), as accepting the update could un-register Software.

Having said that - if you're tempted with Longo DVD Soft to see if it's the last version - today you can, it will tell you it is, and your "about" stays intact with name and reg code you inserted earlier to register it (bring little reg boxes to full view, otherwise you won't see OK button)

Thanks for today's Giveaway:)

This Ripper seems OK, but for my needs I'll be passing on it. I just use WinX DVD Copy & Freemake Video Converter. So far I haven't had the need for anything else. Thanks Giovanni for all the other free choices. I must be getting too old or something. After spending a small fortune on a 55 inch LED/LCD 'smart' TV...why on earth would I want to watch a movie on a tiny phone or tablet?? Thanks GOTD for all the freebies.

Longo has poor customer service. I contacted them in regard to their DVD Copy software, and I received a return email in broken English, telling me there was no way to help me so I have to pay for a new version. In my experience, good customer service doesn't mean telling you to buy something you don't need, but rather making an effort to resolve the existing issue first. I resolved the issue myself, and will stick with the DVD Copy program, but will avoid adding more Longo products to my media software library because of the customer service issue.

I downloaded this the last time it was available. I currently use DVDfab.
The picture wasn't as clear as with dvd fab kind of grainey or it was dropping frames etc.
The copy time speed was much slower than DVD fab

The good news is, I had a dvd that dvdfab wouldn't copy and this program copied it.

so its well worth putting away for those times when its needed.

The current free version of WinX DVD Ripper is different from the paid version and does not rip to AVI. For that reason alone Longo DVD Ripper would be preferable.

I don't often rip DVD's. Yet as I like the layout of this, there is one thing I would add, a search engine for profile extensions. I seen the NEAR PERFECT example on Aiseesoft Total Media Converter. I would snatch some of that common dialog dll action goin on it to save on the rip format choice time. Think of it as a productivity tweak.

Oh and not that I expected it, there's no profile for my TEOTWAWKI cheap craig mp4 player's .AMV format. (Advance Media Video Format)

Oh woes me.. /sarc

But there's MPEG 2 out and that's really what a ripper is all about anyway. Broadcast quality. All the sub containers are just GUI under the hood, re-rendering format, profile bliss.

Middle fingers up, just kidding, I mean thumbs up! Love it, just don't find myself needing this particular workflow often, but when you do need it eh... I wish Aieesoft would take your GUI and you would take their search engine.

Productivity Rounds for everyone.

The $49.99 is the original price, while now we provide special discount of $29.99 for lifetime now.

For the formats, Longo DVD Ripper indeed supports wmv format, but we can't support mkv format right now, but will support it in the near feature.

While for other function like edit, sorry for that, we don't have such function since we only pay attention to the main function, and try our best to provide the best and easiest soft, not the all function soft.

I only rip so I can play on tv. #15 said not rip to WVM or MVK. I assume these are the 2 formats for tv. Is it correct this will not rip to WVM.

please remember that English is NOT the only language available in the world. Currently we can say it is the most important one. But this go on cycles - previously, not in any particular order, we had Egyptian, Greek, Latin, Persian, some others I forgot, French and probably in the future Chinese. I known a person that spoke 9 languages, none of them correctly, not even her own language. She could communicate in ANY part of the world, and this is what matters - communication! By the way - how many languages do you speak?

It is probably the same as by WinX: you are registered, but any attempt to update (and they may prompt you to do so) wil render your license invaled. Period. So, take care to disable that option.

This will great for the other mobil devises. Now it would be grreat if it cold covert MP4 into WMV because Winamp donot play MP4 videos. And my TV cannot play FLV abut only WVM and MVK so cann it with this progam...huh ?

Not sure why the Thumbs Down. The numbers should be reversed. I downloaded it on the last GAOTD offer and this app will blast through any DVD protection thrown at it. This is a must have in my book. Thanks Longo and GAOTD!!

What does "this version can't upgrade to the latest version" mean? Has it been registered or not? It never actually said it had been registered.

I have used one of their companion products, DVD Copy, which for me has been the only product that I have found that has never failed to copy a DVD, despite many other more popular and more well known products used by many, which have not been as consistent in my experience of use.

Format Factory is something that often gets mentioned and for what it does, it is good and of course free.

DVD copy protection removal is not supported by Format Factory though, so cannot be compared with something that does.

Having tried Longo DVD Ripper a couple of times now, it seems to do what it says on the box.

Nothing fancy, just a solid job of ripping and conversion, which is all that it claims to do, without unnecessary bells and whistles.

auto-decrypt it, and
help you rip it to AVI, MP4, WMV, MPG, MP3, and other formats.

Much better.

I had to disable Norton to install. It works but it will not be my favorite DVD ripper. It has a very plain interface and can not change the size of the small window and no basic editing tools. If I was paying for it i get the Aiseesoft ripper better because it has some basic editing tools for the same price. If you don't have a DVD ripper this will do the job for you.
