Installed and uninstalled. Does not have Avant browser support, or many others for that matter.
Thanks Ashraf for your suggestions. I just synced my bookmarks with linkman lite and it worked. I synced firefox 3 bookmarks with avant.

I have a problem with some unicode characters in name of links, also with Internet Explorer bookmarks. LinkCollector fail to read my Favorites folder because of some unicode characters in file names of bookmarks.

Extremely slow, lots of bugs, and almost indecipherable. Little or no help file/documentation. I won’t even use this software for free, let alone pay money for it.

The description looks nice, but it has a big shortcoming, as I expected.
It allows only one “Opera” browser (at least, it is possible to choose which one to use (unlike some other “Opera-aware” sofware (I didn’t try to set other browser’s options to other Operas, though))).
(Not rated it.)

AM DeadLink which is freeware will do the same test on all of your links. Couple that with Foxmarks (soon to be known as XMarks with versions coming for IE and Safari) and you have what LinkCollector does without any worry:

For Firefox I’ve used bookmark duplicate detector (though not since upgrading to 3.07). It bogs down a bit on my older machine on the thousands of bookmarks, and you need to manually import older html exports of bookmarks via the import function under manage bookmarks… then when done cleaning up, moving folders etc. I would export to html.

Installed Linkcollector to XP Pro SP3+ athlon 1.4, but as noted by some others it did NOT import existing bookmarks from FF; I was able to manually import an older html export ok, sorry didn’t see how to check for dups. The verify option just started opening each link in turn, not clear what IP stack etc. was used and I don’t want someone’s custom stack running on my machine. I tried the export function – the HTML export was EMPTY, the lib_30 export did put out stuff but useless for me since I want to re-merge back onto FF, also didn’t see a way to re-organize bookmarks and folders.

So for me FF bookmarks manager and the add-on bookmark duplicate detector seem preferable.

A real bummer. Lost all of my Bookmarks in Firefox 2.0.0.17. Tried to export them with the HTML option and save. Found the HTML bookmarks
under Documents & Settings but was never able to restore them to Firefox. Am running XP with IE, Avant, Firefox. Just made a big mess of
all my Favorites and bookmarks. Tried the new 3.0.8 ver of Firefox to input, didn’t work. I now have to go to my backup of my bookmarks and find another program to re-install.Very poor program with no help.

I loved the idea of weeding through my bookmarks and auto removing any broken links. Luckily, I double checked the programs accuracy in doing this task, because it marked an awful lot of good links as broken.

A really nice tool if you have a lot of links links to various sites and you need them on every PC you use.
A keeper for me.
