Not a software I would use as FLASH is very outdated and HTML5 is much easier and doesn't require a program to write it.

What is SWF? If the publisher is trying to sell something or even give it away, wouldn't it be nice to tell people what it is instead of repeating an undefined acronym over and over? Or is this an intelligence test?
Save | Cancel
If you don't know what SWF is then you obviously have no use for this software. No need for the developer to educate you on current industry terminology.

swf is an extension that defines a type of files handled by Adobe Flash.

"SWF"? Protect your SWF from decompile. Sounds pretty bad! Short White Fanny! decompile
Too much for me! $150 I made it 62 years without this, why take chances, now?

Unless you're producing flash format files for the general public to consume, you wouldn't need this software in a million years.
Keep your $150 for something really useful like games, candy or beer.

I agree with GT regarding negative votes on the items offered here. Granted today's offering has a limited number of users who could benefit from it but why the large number of negative votes. Are people saying it's not a good product or that they simply don't need it. I would hope that only people who actually download and evaluate the programs would vote. Otherwise they have no basis on which to vote.

There are no such rules as you like them to be.
Popularity is also measured and counts as negative acceptance.
Save | Cancel
No. these negative voters are saying that the comment by papin is not useful. It may actually not be useful for them, but I followed the original link in the comment and went into that one to the ones on the following pages and only found good information, although said information is obviously dated by now and a little old, it was also aimed at independent software developers, so maybe a little out of the league of the "nay" voters.
At least that's my take on it.

I always took the nay and yay voting as a way to tell GOTD that they didn't or did like the item being given away. Maybe it would help if GTOD specified just exactly what kind of feedback they want there ... or it might not matter. A negative vote, for any reason, may just be that - a negative vote.

This software genre is targeted at a very small group that has a use to encrypt source code of SWF scripts. Not a big market. Maybe it is 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% of the users?
Nevertheless, it exists. If you have a use for it, good for you.

I had more luck; 2 files (little bit bigger after encryption)

Must read: the blog of a developer who created a mockup Flash application.

I don't understand the negative votes. I read the article and found it correct so would someone care to fill me in on your attitude about this subject?
Save | Cancel
I'm guessing the down votes are simply because that article focuses on problems of software piracy. And there are a lot of people who don't want to pay for software so instead pirate it. And they don't like for it to be pointed out. Hence, the down votes.

@ GT
I'm confused. I read some of the pages papin links to and all I found was some thought-provoking information and comments from software developers. Nothing really to invite all those negative votes, and yet while I voted "yes" to his comment, the number returned dove even more into the negative zone.
I really do not understand the rationale. Maybe the final votes at the end of teh day will be more telling.

Installed and registered without problems on a Win 8.1.3 Pro 64 bit system. A clean install.
A Chinese company without name and address, digitally signed as Shenzen Moyea Software:
"1. Who are we?
Leawo software established in 2007, is a professional multimedia solution provider, mainly specializes in processing and broadcasting media over the Internet as well as in the daily life."
This is something special, not for everybody use and yes, it becomes obsolete with the outdated Abobe Flash. As old the software is. The EXE is from mid 2012, the DLL's are from 2010. Doesn't seem to be a big business.
The goal is easy to understand - hide the .SWF source code from decompiling - obfuscating address, relevant keywords...
Upon start a small non resizable window openes you can add your .SWF file, select an encryptionm method and wait for the result...
http://i.imgur.com/buCEoLL.png
The output file is bigger, than the original Flash file:
http://i.imgur.com/4dkTt06.png
The result?
This is a picture from the original SWF:
http://i.imgur.com/PZ8d8Ba.png - a moving loadspeaker and scrolling text
This is the output - a not working picture of the background, no movement...
http://i.imgur.com/CaO5QLA.png
This is the decompiled original file:

This is the decompiled "encrypted" Flash file:

Fails with a simple test. I am afraid, that it will fail with more complex SWf, too.
Uninstalled via reboot. No real help in protecting SWF files...
have a good start into this new week!

"This is something special, not for everybody..."
Yes, I'd guess for Flash devs/designers who've not moved on to something else. If you use software to make money, the price is often higher. My concern is that these encrypted Flash files might be blocked by security software, if not today, tomorrow.
Not to bring up a maybe sore point, when the GOTD wrapper was new it was often blocked because it was encrypted, as blocking encrypted executable files had become standard practice. Maybe we'll see the same thing with encrypted Flash files?

Karl, while I have to agree with you that there's no real help in protecting SWF files by this software - as you proved this in your test, I can't agree that Leawo is a "company without name and address".
One can easily find the address on:
http://www.leawo.org/company/contact-us.html
And they (Leawo) produced some excellent software in their past. I'm using their Leawo Blu-ray Copy and Blu-ray Creator (lifetime licences, both obtained as giveaways, and no - not in GOTD) and they are simply among the best tools in their kind.
Sadly, the today's giveaway obviously isn't. :(
