Hello everyone,

Thanks very much for all the comments and it's just one hour to go before we finalize our 5 Amazon Gift Card winners!

We may not reply to all the comments here but please be assured we've read every single piece of them and passed them as well to our R&D team in the hope of delivering a better version next time.

Several problems that you've mentioned here:

1. registration code delay: we may have heavy traffic than ever during the giveaway campaign on our server and mailing system, so please just be patient and give it another try in a couple of hours;

2. program crash: we already have had our engineering team to have a thorough check of this and hopefully we will update you guys soon. As some users mentioned here, please just try to restart it sometimes and then it would work;

3. bound to iTunes: we 100% understand not everyone is willing to use iTunes, that's why we decide to try to make it work without iTunes. Can not guarantee this but at least we'd like to try.

4. price: yes, we know the price matters, so we will always put it in a sale or just give it away like what we are doing now.

Special thanks to users MartyH, Calvin N, David, JR, fakefield, M, Mothi, Giovanni and Gary for your amazing comments.

Many thanks to other users as well cause we really appreciate what you've said!

Keep your comments coming in the next few minutes and have a great Halloween!

I had no problems installing and running this software on XP Pro and Win 7-64 and communicating with my iPhone 5 running ios7. When connected to my iPhone and doing a recover deleted files from the device, it would not recover any deleted files, it only read the files currently on the phone. I took a few pictures and deleted them to test the software and it would not recover them. I agree with other reviewers that it would be wonderful to have an option to securely delete information from the device. If this software actually did what it claims to be able to do, I would gladly pay money for it.

Pros:
-Ease of use- you have the choice to recover files straight from your device, as well as from an ITunes backup.
-User-friendly guidance where it matters*
-provides insurance against file loss in the case of failed ios upgrades or jailbreaks
-ability to preview and filter files

Cons-
Some of the recovered files seem to be corrupted, or at least not readable in Windows.

Suggestions for development:
*I would recommend having your user-interface available in a variety of languages to reflect the diversity of apple's market. This could be done by options under settings, or by producing separate language versions.
-I find it surprising that a program that focuses on Apple's mobile platform is not available for Apple's desktop platform (i.e.please release a mac version!)

Have NOT received the registration key. The program installed okay and I went to the site designated in the “readme” file and entered name and email. Have tried this several times. Did a complete uninstall and tried again. No email received.

So … program is worthless to me because I can not register it.

Hello everyone,

Thanks so much for all your comments in idea.informer widget and the comment section here.

We may not reply to each of them, but please be assured we've read every single piece of them and passed your ideas and suggestions to our R&D team in the hope of delivering a better version next time.

Special thanks to:

User MartyH: updated his status of not receiving the keycode previously but got it now. Yes, we do have the heavy traffic on our sever and email distributing system during the giveaway campaign, so please just be patient and give it another try after a couple of hours.

User Calvin N: very comprehensive and practical review of our product, ten plus other users find his comment useful and that's very impressive.

User M: thanks for the screenshot provided and the mention of crash problem(actually several users out there find it a common problem). Already have had our engineering team to check it thoroughly and hopefully we will update you guys soon.

User Mothi: requested an option to delete personal data/files securely, which seems pretty much to be the same as requested by many other users.

User Mike Hunt: we love this comment section because we love to hear different voices exactly like yours. :) We 100% understand not everybody is willing to use iTunes and that's why we decide to try to make it work probably without iTunes, can not guarantee, but at least we'd like to try.

User Giovanni: we love competition and diversity as well, we appreciate your software recommendations for different OS and portable devices. Just see how many supporters you've got here, that's amazing! :)

User Gary: Yes, yes, we know the price matters, so will always put it in sale or just give it away to you guys exactly the same as what we are doing now.

Many many thanks again to everyone who have left a comment here, and we still have several hours to go before the giveaway ends, so please keep your comments coming and we will finalize the 5 winners in a couple of hours as well.

Cheers and have a great Halloween!

This is an update to my previous post, originally posted by Calvin N (Me) — October 31st, 2013 at 1:52 pm (comment 41 or around there)
(Pros/Cons/Suggestions listed in my previous comment)

This is an add-on to my previous review.

In my earlier comment, I did not include the recovering from the iTunes backup as I had an encrypted but now that I un-encrypt the file so I could try out the feature, there were some nice things I saw about it.
When looking through the iTunes backup, you can pull out individual files which is very nice. What is also very nice is that you can look through contacts and easily read each contact. For messages, you can also see the preview of the messages which makes this really nice. The pictures in the backup show the thumbnail properly which is nice, however, there are still no thumbnails for videos which could make it confusing if the videos are all named similarly and you have to find the right one to pull out of the backup.

Also, I noticed when looking through the iTunes backup, some of the deleted items have a date of 12-31-1969 which makes me wonder if this was because of the program or because of the iPod Touch. Either way, it really is not a major issue.

Overall, looking through the iTunes backup and recovering individual files makes this program very useful! I will raise my rating to 3.5 Stars from 3 stars! A good program though needs a bit more improvement before it becomes gold!

Install and registered successfully on Windows 7 SP1 x64 Ultimate
iTunes version: 11.1.1.11

Nice interface, easy to use. Does not support backup copies on iCloud.

While Scanning complete, APPCHASH occurs with itunesdata.dll
After update to iTunes version 11.1.2.32, problem still exist.

I'd gone crazy if I've paid $59.95 and end up with APPCRASH and not getting any of my files back!

We just had a similar giveaway here and just like this one, itunes is required. I’m not an Apple zombie but I do have an iphone 4S but I can’t stand itunes. It’s glitchy and constantly being updated and loads files at start-up to constantly phone home to check for updates and who knows what else.

There are tons of better and free alternatives. Why can’t something like this be made without the need for itunes? Is it a legal matter or are developers too lazy too create a recovery program that does whatever itunes is doing for programs like this? In six months, after itunes has updated 17 times whil this need to be updated as well?

Agree 100%.

Given the insecurity of telephones and the pervasive spying and cataloging, pretending my cell is a phone gives no cause to have to recover data. Since 90%+ of cell phones are infected (not my research), I'd never connect it to anything not another phone and always through someone else's network. Did I mention the GPS tracking 24/7/365 by the feds, the states, the phone service providers (even of you don't have their service) and every cell tower in world?

Carrying a Cyber-shot is more handy than pretending the phone has an app for .jpg generation. (It does somewhere in the incredibly unhandy menu.) The CS card remembers the .jpgs all too well and doesn't download more than the pics when connected to a PC.

My tablet is yellow with blue lines. It wrinkles in rain rather than turning into to an EPA brown site like the other Tablets. No booting or re-booting required.

Laptops are half-computers at double the price and easily departed. Chromebooks are merely dedicated browsers that run on credit cards ... without a network, worthless.

"Mobil" was best when it was a service station on the corner. ©2013

UPDATE to post 29 = Leawo's email might have been overloaded for a while. After a couple of hours, I received the KeyCode email. In fact, I received an email for EVERY time I tried to register ... but more is better than none!

KeyCode worked fine. Program is very good. I tried another GOTD program (MobiSaver) a few weeks ago. IMHO, Leawo's iOS Data Recovery has much clearer instructions. MobiSaver did not explain DFU Mode; Leawo covers the topic well. Have tried a few test recoveries and have had good results.

Very glad I gave it another try after my inital frustration! Worth the wait! Definitely recommended for an iPhone user who already has and understands iTunes.

very light and easy to use.
few suggestions

1. like the comment above, it would be nice if certain data can be erased permanently, making that data not recoverable.

2. having some of itunes menu. probably most apple users agree that itunes can be extremely annoying and inconvenient. adding some simple features that itunes provide would be pretty useful. (for example, including "add music, photo, ect" feature) i dont think it would be impossible to do it since the program has to be connected with itunes anyway to operate.

Other than the relatively high price(although its a good program, still $60 price would be def. no no for many people), it does what it promises.

My initial thoughts for this program is that this would be handy to have around in case one would have to recover files due to accidental deletion or damage. What is also nice is that you can select individual files for recovery.

When installing the program, it went smoothly which is good. Program is light weight and consumes little resources.

The following is a list of Pros, Cons, and any other Suggestions I have.

Pros
*Simple User Interface/Easy Navigation
*Automatic Updates
*Search feature for searching for files when recovering can save time
*No problems scanning my 4th Gen. iPod Touch
*Displays basic info about the Apple mobile device
*Able to remember last folder used for sending the recovered files (some programs I encountered in the past fail to do this, making it a bit more tedious to use)
*Recovering files is easy process and organizes the recovered files into dated folders of when you recovered it.
*Seems stable.

Cons
*Unable to highlight multiple items and then check the highlighted items for recovery.
*Unable to thumbnails of pictures and videos when looking through the list of items that can be recovered.
*Was only able to recover "Camera Roll" and "Photo Stream" and unable to recover other categories even though I knew that I used to have many files in those categories. (Not sure if this is not yet implemented or a bug)
*After recovering some pictures that I had deleted previously, it was unreadable by Windows.
*Not really a con but there is a typo after you press the "Recover from iTunes Backup Files". When you are on the screen, where you cn see the list of iTunes backup files, the sentence "If your iOS device is not listed here,it's probably..." is missing a space between the comma and it's.

Suggestions
*Read the Cons above
*In some file recovery programs for Windows, they have a nice layout that tells you how easy it is to recover that file and if it has been overwritten or not. Adding this to your program may make it easier so people will know if they can recover without major issues so they do not have to worry about wasting time.
*Maybe add WILDCARDS to your search feature, not necessary but could be useful when searching through a lot of files.
*Not necessary but would be a bit nice if you put info such as apple devices that are supported when scanning for them in the program.

Other Thoughts
When recovering from the iPod Touch, it seems to recover quickly, even videos that are 50Mb in size within few seconds which I thought was fast. I'm not sure if the program moves all possible recoverable files to a temporary directory so you could easily move them to wherever you want or if it's just a bug. If it recover files that quick then that is great!

My rating: 3/5
If you can improve it with the suggestions that I have listed, then my new rating would be 4 or 4.5 out of 5.

Laptop Specs:
Windows 7 Professional SP1 (x64)
Intel Core i3-2310M @ 2.1GHz
4GB RAM
300GB HDD

Apple Device Used:
iPod Touch 4th Generation 8GB Black

If you have any questions, just let me know!
Hope you enjoyed my review of the program and welcome my feedback!

Leawo iOS Data Recovery sounds like an amazing product. In the case that you accidentally delete something or misplace your device, this software can be a lifesaver, especially when you forget to make a backup or don’t have a backup at all. I think that in the future you should also support recovery of iPhoto like what you offer for iTunes. This may be an essential service. I only wish that in the future you will have a version that will also support Android products.

(Windows XP , iPad mini on iOS 7.0.3 32GB)

I'd tried this software twice, both of which failed. It took about ten minutes or more to scan, and then it got stuck at 99%, at last, it said "there's an error happened on scanning.please try again.“ and my second try got the same result, as well.

I like the UI of the home page. It's clear and simple. But I'm not feeling so good to see it just stuck at 99%,which means it was almost done and I was looking forward to see the result, but it failed. Better let the percentage go averagely, and tell more about the error.

It would be great if there was a time estimating feature for scanning so people know when it'll be done.

Maybe consider making an iOS app that do the same thing ( if it is allowed by Apple).
Or make a comprehensive iDevice managing software on windows and Mac that can easily manage your files, backup/recover your data , completely erase your personal data. Then the price will seem more reasonable.

I'm really happy to see this GOTD,I'll try a bit more.
I really hope it'll will work afterward.

Thank you so much for your generous giveaway today! Your products have always worked well for me and this one is no different.

With the many features that you’ve already built into this software, it’s actually difficult to think of ways to improve it any; however, here are some suggestions for consideration:

--- Because many upgrades for Apps sometimes results in regret, because a feature might've been removed, or the upgrade made the App worse than what it was, causing the App to be deleted in frustration, etc., I think that it would be great if there was an option to theoretically create incremental backups of Apps, and other data, giving the user an organized and recoverable backup history list of previous and current versions, etc., whenever applicable.

--- To further enhance that idea, the user could be provided with an option to automatically or manually purge/delete old backups, which would further empower the user to take full control over their important data.

--- Finally, since creating regular backups aren’t always on people’s minds, I think that it would be great to provide a Reminder option, with various or fully customizable intervals available, to remind users to run your program again. Maybe your program could even monitor changes or updates on the iOS device, whether through a free App or through iTunes, and then prompt the user to run the program afterwards.

I hope this helps and thanks again!

After installing and hooking up iphone, I get the message 'Analysing your IOS...please waut', which scrolled up to 99% in about one minute. Now after 15 minutes it is still whirling away at 99% complete. How long must I wait? The percentage indicator should not be so terribly non-linear.

Nice interface, I find the blue color theme pleasant. However, it concerns me that the application needs administrator privileges to run.

After choosing "Recover from iOS Device" and scanning for devices, iosdatarecovery.exe caused an APPCRASH; windows prompted me to check online for a solution and close the program. I can see that the app properly recognized my device however I was not able to proceed any farther due to the crash. I attempted several restarts but was never able to get past the crash.

After selecting "Recover from iTunes Backup Files" and pressing "Scan", I again received the same error - iosdatarecovery.exe caused an APPCRASH.

My PC is running Windows 7 ultimate 64-bit, iTunes version 11.1.2.31, and I have two iOS devices running iOS 7.0.3 (an iPhone 5s and an iPad 3, both 64GB models)

I am eager to test this software and would love to recommend it, but alas after spending half an hour I was unable to get it to work. I looked through the Leawo website and did a Bing search for the error but was unable to find a solution.

I suspect the problem may lie in the fact the I using a standard user account to run the program. I prefer to follow best procedures and not run programs from the administrator account.

OK, I didn't read the requirements in the first place, but come on.

The darn software wants iTunes !!! If it doesn't find it, it will *** NOT *** start.

The least the developers could have done is to check (or ask) whether iTunes was installed before proceeding with installation.

Uninstalled.

Was pretty hesitant at first regarding the whole idea of being able to recover all of your deleted information. However in some cases you tend to want to go back in time when that deleted now necessary information is required. :) I know I have. Great tool easy to use and navigate. Other than my initial crash which was a quick handy dandy reboot was able to fix. Nonetheless, user friendly, which is REQUIRED nowadays, did it job as specified! I'm a sucker for a software easy to understand no clutter get on down to the point and results near or flawless. Has a lot of little extra minor features that are not necessary but accessible. Very Nice! Wonder if this is a good idea or a bad? :) The software just slays the restore that iTunes has available by far. I can think of plenty of reasons why this would come in handy!! Thanks for the Freebie! Who doesn't like freebies?

Good Job Leawo!

Installed on Window 7 Enterprise.

This software works great. I was able to find and recover data that had been deleted and I thought was gone forever. This will definitely be a program I keep around.

One enhancement that I would like to see is an option to run this from the command line and be able to have the options available to me at the command line.

Thank you for a great product.

Excellent piece of software. My phone has basically replaced my computer for almost everything and one of my biggest fears is that something will happen to my data.

Ran the scan and it brought up a ton of things I didn't even know had been deleted from my phone. Most useful so far; call history, messages and contacts. An excellent resource for everyday use, not just for recovering lost data. Thanks for making this free for the day!

Downloaded for Windows 7 Pro x64.

Program crashed the fist time I tried to scan. Second time it came up and was able to recover many deleted items from a long ways back. Easy to use user interface.

Only other issue I see is with the notes section. Once it gets to a certain point all dates are "12-31-1969". Also it seems that if your note starts with a #, there is visible coding info in the Note section of the program. Screenshot: http://imgur.com/zQolymg

That being said, other than price, it is a nice program to have in case of an emergency.

Installed no problem. Phone is connected to PC running Windows 7. Software shows 'Recover from IOS Device' or 'Recover from iTunes Backup' but the website instruction says something about "click "Start" button to begin the scanning of the device". There is NO "Start" button on mine. Iphone 5 version 7.0.3 and the PC detected the phone with no problem. This software is Not working for me.

Person number 16. if you are going to sell your phone you should use an overwrite software like file shredder or something better, it's still no guarantee that none of your information will be recoverable but it will make it more difficult.

This is a nice program. I retrieved all my deleted photos amd contacts. also you must remember to go to menu and uncheck automatic update or you will lose this nice program as Gaotd don't allow updates or support from this site. have fun I give this a thumbs up.

"With the unregistered version, files found can not be recovered. Please go to www.leawo.com to buy one and register it."

What did I miss?

"[...] you should have installed in advance [...]". You're wrong. This GOTD is to recover data from an external device. So, it can be safely installed at any time today on your Windows machine. Then, you plug the device in, and let the software do its job.

As with any recovery software, it's always wise to have one (or many) installed before shit happens. So, when an opportunity to get your hands on one that is free (and provided it's a good one), you'll want to seize it.

That's what I'll do with this "Leawo iOS Data Recovery 1.2.0", although I don't have any of the device it addresses.

The only drawback I see at this moment is it targets Apple's products only ---leaving out Android.

Cool piece of software. Now I am a bit scared ! What happens if I had to clean my data and sell my iphone on a third party site. Can someone else recover my files using this program ?

My one suggestion is :
- Can you provide an option to delete files securely, i.e. to make it unrecoverable when security is desired for personal data.

As a senior adult, I sometimes miss the fine print…is there a version for Mac and I'm missing it? I keep iTunes on a Mac and would prefer to have this software available for my Mac.

Just tried this on my laptop (Windows 7 with 64 bit). It scanned my phone for a while and showed me some deleted messages. That's not bad for a "freeware".
Sometimes we accidentally delete important stuff on the phone and need to get them back ASAP. So developing an iOS data recovery app for the gadget is a better idea than doing the same thing on a Windows PC.

Not everyone is an Apple user.... why do they always seem to leave out the android user. We are just as important :)

I download the trial version a week ago, it helps scan most of photos, pictures, videos, messages, contacts on my iPhone 4... including some useful pictures i don't remember when i deleted them, because there are 1000+ pictures on my old iPhone 4, but the program find them, tks!

Very happy to see the software is a freebie here, and i will get it for my family.

PS: I use "Recover from iOS Device" mode for my iPhone 4, but i need to enter DFU mode to begin the scanning...
