I downloaded this when GOTD gave it away in January and it has completely turned my work life around. It allows for efficient organization of tasks, daily & wekkly. Plus, I can plan out my projects and group & assign in numerous ways. Great program.

You are right that the .lckey file isn’t an executable. But when you install the software file associations are made in the registry.

When you doubble click on a .txt file notepad will open because of the file association waiting in the registry.

The same with the .lckey file, that’s what is meant by ‘run’ the file.

People who complain about non-commercial vs commercial usage should note that if you check the “about” tab for the server, it shows licensed to GAOTD for 10 computers, not one, TEN. So the developer gave a broader license for this than the usual license for one computer that usually accompanies most giveaways

I don’t know how you’re supposed to run the .lckey file when it’s not an executable file type. SO I extracted that file to both the server folder and the Leader Command folder, opened each and checked the “about” window for each and both showed registered to GAOTD.
The confusion there seems to be with using the term “run” when the .lckey file isn’t an executable.

I’ve read through the comments and want to just leave some cheese to go with all the whine around here.

The number of negative comments gets annoying. Especially when it’s from people who don’t bother to install the software. I’ve found many amazing and fun applications through this site but there have also been a lot of programs that don’t fit my needs. I read the info and come back the next day. No need to post that you still believe the whole world revolves around you.

I had a bit of problems getting it registered, but finally everything went OK. I like this program, and am looking forward to exploring. I don’t have a business, or rather, I have a business, it is being a Mum who works, volenteers , and is trying to get an internet business going. I am definitly going to try this. AND IF I LIKE IT WILL BUY IT. Isn’t that the idea? Try and if you like, buy? Everyone here is moaning about it not being free for businesses. But I am pretty sure they are just moaning for the sake of moaning, not because they have a business they want to use this for.
Anyway, I am looking forward to playing with it, and am quite pleased that possibly I can get Timmy to soccer, meet with Sally’s teacher, and hand in my work, all at the same time.

#6, that’s what I thought. “commercial” should maybe defined, or it just can’t be used by us and therefore we are providing testing/feedback without actually getting a (legally) useful product which defeats the intent and purpose of this site.

I was successful on 3 XP computers and one Vista Home Premium computer, when copying the lckey file to both the command and server folders. The only differences on the Vista computer was that I saved the downloaded zip file to the hard drive and then extracted it, and ran both files as administrator, unchecking the box to run the program when finished. Then I copied the lckey file to both folders.
The client and server are now registered on each of the computers.

LeaderCommand and LeaderServer both installed and registered without a problem, but unfortunately…

LeaderCommand automatically installed in my local language and it is such a bad translation that it was a challenge to even find the settings. Once I managed to change the settings to English it became an incomprehensible mixture of two languages and even a reboot didn’t fix that. I like word puzzles, but this was just laughable!

18 files left after uninstalling… messy!

The uninstall process opens an email message to Almeza, but I’ll share my contribution here:

@ Almeza: Let your customers choose their preferred language during installation, and don’t offer a language option unless you have a good, workable translation. The French translation clearly needs more work and the Dutch translation looks like it was written by someone who picked all the wrong options in an online dictionary! The word that’s used for ‘settings’ translates to ‘picture frame’ and the words on the ‘forum’ button… well, GOTD’s moderators would have to delete my comment for adult content! Considering the normal asking price for this software you should easily be able to hire a qualified interpreter for an hour, so your less than mediocre translations can be seen as a lack of respect for your customers. I’ll gladly return that lack of respect by giving a thumbs down for the unprofessional approach!
Would you still like an email with my reasons to uninstall?
