Update ok. no problem at all. the developer so kind to allow 1 yr updates even for this GAOTD version as well as lifetime license for the standard edition. In addition to that, it is portable. So, install in as many usb device as you like. May not be the best in the market but useful for all essential task. For me, it is quite good with the easy to use build in search tool.

If you want to know what to do at any time and at any place with any tool at hand, this is the right tool for you.I implement GTD with this software.it is fantastic,Almeza knows that. That is why they don't give you help and also hide some of the important features like priorities,contacts,categories,notes....It is an amazing software.
Thanks GOTD. But Almeza :please be a bit open,I know that the software is magic for me.

Any one having problems with UPDATES?

The updater tells me that there's a 7.3.1.1 version but i've tried like 5 times but is unable to complete the update.

Scam?

I have been using Leader Task effectively for my needs since the last give away. I do not need to email. I do keep track of To Do and projects. It has been the best thing I have found to fit my style and head set. Nothing else has come close. Nothing much is said about the intrinsic abilities of the program. I am sure I could find something expensive (MS) that might do a bit better but this all seems reasonable to me. I tried Task Coach but it did not seem to have near the functionality. I am no expert but Leader Task has been working real well for me.

It's a colourful programme, too. I haven't had much of a chance to really use it yet, but the UI is pleasant.

Should say that I think this is a very good software.
Essentially, it's portable, just copy and paste the Almeza folder from the 'Documents' folder. That is very generous of them. It is rather unreasonable to expect them to give away the higher editions, too, especially if they're portable, too. That would promote them into the realms of total freeware.
Thanks to Almeza and GOTD!

Were the prior giveaways of this software also the 'Standard Edition'?
Have got Version 6.9.6 from earlier GOTD. I thought it was Leader Task Pro, but it doesn't say that in the programme's "About" section.
So the question is whether this is a significant update?

This has been offered before - it's just another Outlook look-alike, except without the functionality and without Microsoft behind it. If you use Outlook - you certainly don't need this.

Was very keen on the posibility of rolling this out company wide after evaluating todays GOTD, but as many many people are noticing (some after downloading it then being disappointed in the lack of listed features) this offerring is a very cut down version of what is stated in the description. It may even appear that they might have recently produced this lite version in a badly planned marketing attempt to further promote what looks like good software in the expert version.

Oops. it appears the version was mentioned in a previous post
"And here’s what’s new with versions 7.3 & 7.31:..."

So it appears to be version 7.3. can anyone verify this?

Shouldn't the version have been included in the official description???

I agree with others about the uncomfortable feeling given by the apparent bait and switch between what's describe (expert) and what's provided (standard)

What version is this?? I have a (GOTD?) version [6.9] on my computer and want to know what effect this will have on that.

I've had mixed experience with this product in the past. It has some features (projects) I like better than Outlook 2007, but I find it querky and/or buggy, not to mention hard to understand the paradym the authors seem to be using (various heirachical catagories, etc, but
little guidance about what they mean and how to use them. In general though there is web based help I find it unhelpful.

I also find the default color scheme annoying at best. I'm hoping that this is an upgrade for what I currently have and might proved some improvements. Won't (re)install it otherwise...

Thanks GOTD,
Chuck

Leadertask uses a very rigorous license checking. Your program is always contacting their server.
You use such a management program for your very sensitive data. Who knows what they're reading out of your program and your computer?
I never use DRM, because there are better ways to bind clients to a good product. Never ever however use such software for your most important business data that works with potential backdoors.

Greetings to russia.

By the way, their forum is pretty active. The PDA version, however, is a joke, the more so since they started to charge for it. It is not in any way comparable to the desktop version, its feature set being ridiculously limited. The now paid version has not added any features compared to the once free version. And I'm not complaining about it being Windows Mobile...

Although I agree that the misleading description is not justifiable, the program as such is well worth giving a try. Apart from the missing email client it does a lot more than Outlook.

For me, it's not simply about cost or whether I like or dislike the product. I also need to have a certain degree of trust in the vendor.

Two things that have my Spidey Senses tingling:

1. The heading here says "LeaderTask Standard". One would assume that the description included applies to that "Standard" version ($34.95) being offered today. However, it actually applies to the Expert version ($69.95). I did a bit of online research and found that most reviews/opinions of the Expert version of this software do rate it very highly. Good for them. However, I tried, but I could not find one single word on the web about the "Standard" version" (aside from the vendor's site). Experience teaches me that if I can't find comments on the net about a "standard" version of popular software, it's because no one is buying the "standard" version. Typically, due to lack of key functionality.

2. They're 11 hours into this offer now, and they have not responded to this forum to appease any concerns. I looked in on their own forum, where they state that they closely monitor that forum and respond to concerns. I can't imagine that they are not paying any attention here.

I am not a businessman but I do computer repair work as a side job and need to keep track of tasks and other appointments in which I have to keep. Would not compare this to Outlook, but maybe OneNote? Program works fine, and I like the fact I can delete this to the recycle bin without going through the control panel to remove it. Dont know what all the fuss is about considering if its free, if you do not like it, then move on. GOTD cannot please everyone.

Poor Almeza. I've used their previously offered standard version and I ran into the opposite problem - it did much more than I needed. In terms of organizing *complex* projects, I think it's very useful.

The problem with today's GOTD is that there's a new, better version to compare this to. I'd love to have the expert version, but as a freebie LeaderTask deserves a try out. Just be aware that if you're a PIM novice, it may be a little scary in how much it can organize (even if it can't do all that other good stuff).

gonna give it a try, I have no real need to try to manage the way too many extra hours I now have on my hands- LOL, but- I'm curious-

saw the wesite concerns above & did the Visual Route trace just outta curiosity, all program links head back to RU, as well as that main website, I have no problems with that, & opening the website with IE9 gave me no bells or whistles warnings, then I went back to mah chrome...
Scanned installers with my resident onboard Avast & Malwarebytes, & no problems there-

Am wondering why this program wouldn't offer the desktop shortcut, I can see why some wouldn't , ( & I appreciate that with some software & games), but it would seem that a daily use utility would proudly add to the Icon confusion some of us can run into-
ah-ha, had to leave it run close to 5 min before it 'naturally cycled ' into wanting to "call home" & ...?... update? I'm guessing...yep, wants to update to 7.3.1.1-

I really can't vote yea or nay, beyond a pretty easy install I have no experience with these to judge it against, and I see above there are plenty-o-opinions from my more learned peers-

I'll leave it in & try to see how useful it can be, (hey, at this price I have nothing to lose to give it an honest try)

This is alright for a personal to do list but like others have said there are freeware/opensource that do the same or more, you would be better off getting TaskCoach like dimon mentioned.
This would be alright if they offered it as a free lite version to entice people to buy the Expert version.
Thanks anyways Almeza an GAOTD

Lot of harsh comments on this offering. Usually I think it's just being nit-picky. But in this case I think it's all justified.

If you're going to go to the effort of offering your software on GOTD, at least offer a version people will want. This is a demanding community who will either love or hate you. You want them to love you and spread the word about your software. But if you offer crippled and/or crummy versions of your software, all you're going to get is negative feedback.

It's kind of your own fault Almeza Company.

The downloaded application does not seem to match the description. Could either the developer or GOTD explain this, or update the offer so we can evaluate and vote on this.

If my query will not or cannot be addressed, then I shall vote thumbs down and move along. I have better things to do this afternoon. I am quite disappointed with the disorganisation and lack of caring and consideration.

Took a look at their website and agree with all of the above. This standard version is not worth my time and trouble. I would have given the expert version a try but not this one. It lacks the features I was hoping for as would most people. They definitely made a bad marketing decision not offering the expert version here at gotd. The only word of mouth advertising they would get on this stripped down version would most likely be negative. Whereas had they invested in their advertising by offering the expert version at GOTD they most likely would have reaped dividends. I routinely tell everyone about GOTD and the software received that I use and love with post on my website, blog, facebook, twitter, youtube, and various forums where I am a regular participant. Regretfully this offering falls far short of reaping them any beneficial advertising.
I market handmade folk instuments online at artfire. One post alone in the users forum there has the potential to reach hundreds of potential buyers of this software. Multiply this by the other GOTD members that may do as I do and that is a few thousand potential sales leads they just missed out on by not showing off their best product. Thanks GOTD but will have to pass on this one. Too many free alternatives available that are better than this one.

I am thankful for GOTD and many of the software offers they provide. However, when I see an offer like today's giveaway, I am disappointed.

It is misleading for this software company to tell us of all their "special features" and make it appear at first look that we are getting these features when we are actually not getting these features unless we pay for them.

For me personally, I don't trust a company who feels they need to trick us into buying their product. In these cases, I will not purchase any software from this company and will recommend that others stay clear of this company.

If it helps, here's the version comparison, expert vs. standard: http://goo.gl/tDzIp

And here's what's new with versions 7.3 & 7.31: http://goo.gl/7NJCE http://goo.gl/5abSo

*If* I remember correctly when LeaderTask has been on GOTD one of the chief criticisms was lack of seamless connectivity with on-line calenders etc. [*The Cloud*] -- it looks like they might have made improvements in that respect, though you need the expert version to get it. Along those lines it *might* matter to some that Windows 8 looks like it's coming next year, & bringing with it built-in [integrated] features like Live Mesh -- it's rumored & leaks show it should work pretty seamlessly with all things on-line. Of course that doesn't matter to everyone, & many have liked LeaderTask, especially for its portability [note that past versions did write to the registry, & the help docs ( http://goo.gl/bv4bS ) talk about potential drive letter prob. -- I found the portableapps.com format took care of both concerns].

One nice thing about all the competition in the organizer/calendar space is that there's enough choice that I think you should be able to find something at least close to *your* ideal product or app. Without implying there's anything wrong with LeaderTask, Rainlender is popular I think [ http://goo.gl/xZzg ], Task Coach is free [ http://goo.gl/s1wC ] & there's a portableapps.com version [ http://goo.gl/zgxJ ], and ToDoList is another free alternative [ http://goo.gl/lr0su ] & portableapps.com [ http://goo.gl/LPZFc ].

Clearly this software wasn't intended for someone like me, " LeaderTask has all necessary features for a businessman....." and I bet other businesswomen wouldn't look any further as well. (Come into the 21st century. Women have been in the working world for over a generation now.)

Then, for curiosity I read the posts and see that the men think it's not worthy as well.

Thanks, anyway.

The description describes the pro version of this insread of what we get today. It also says, "The program is available for $ 34.95, but it will be free for our visitors as a time-limited offer." yet this is not the $34.95 product.

Many software companies have a free lite version of their premium software, so when we get lite giveaways I feel scammed. Ironically, once you take away the features we do not get, we simply get a product in which there are plenty of freeware alternatives. It's a bad marketing decision because nobody is going to be talking about this around the water cooler. Had we been given the pro version, we would probably be walking ads for this product but as it stands it's just an install then uninstall disappointment.

Been using this for awhile and while I wouldn't say it is a great program, it's certainly better than average because of the mail client. Although it's limited in some respects, think of the FULL version of the program (not the version being offered here) as Outlook's obsessive-compulsive but dumber younger brother; with a *little* bit of One-Note (very little) thrown in.

HOWEVER since this offering doesn't have the mail client OR the syncing, it is worth what you'll pay for it today. Zero.

In fact, I can't imagine why anyone would be happy with this version.

Pass on this because you'll probably just uninstall it within 5 minutes.

The Standard edition does NOT fill in as much "text" as promised in description.
Description is from expert edition.
Is it a fault or is it a different kind of NEW marketing comes up with disappointment after reading the comparison.

Over the years the company had been able to publish all but the pda versions on GOTD. Hopefully they can still afford it.

All in one the application is a good planning one BUT there are MANY free and even open source that have same abilities.

Just use the keywords that describe the functionality and search on scroogle.org.

Installed and activated fine on XP SP3.

By default it installs in C:\LeaderTask which is portable in nature which is the only thumbs up if you are using multiple systems across places.

You can copy the folder to a thumbdrive and can be used across any system.

Email option is available only in the "Expert" version whereas, this is the "Standard" version.
Some Cons:
- No Outlook integration is available.
- Need to download plugins for most common tasks.
- Most of the provided options are not available in this version and you might have to get the expert version.

Not a keeper for me. Removed it. Will continue to use the EssentialPIM for now!

Thanks anyways for today's GAOTD!

To be fair the description of Leadertask and features listed above relate only to the "Expert Version" of Leadertask. Hopefully the missing features won't be too critical to using the product effectively.

According to the Leadertask website, features that are not available in the Standard version include:
- Statistics
- Mail Client
- Plugins
- Sync with PDA
- Custom statuses.

Features that are included in todays Standard version are:
- Basic Functions
- Projects

http://www.leadertask.com/content/view/138/122/

Of course "Basic Functions" is a very unspecific feature - so it might just be trial and error to determine what constitutes a "Basic Function".

There is, however an excellent "Features" Page on the Leadertask website.

http://www.leadertask.com/content/view/61/111/

It would be even better if each feature was also labeled "Expert" or "Standard" to indicate what is in or out of the Standard version.
