#73. It sounds like an incorrect profile was used within KooRaRoo for your Samsung BDP - if you can contact support (at) kooraroo (dot) com I'll be glad to sort this out.

Having a transcoded file on disk means that you can play it again or play it on a different, compatible device without re-transcoding. If a right profile is chosen, then transcoding is minimized as much as possible.

Serviio is only free in a limited version - the full version is not free. KooRaRoo can also be controlled using any DMC application - there are lots of those. Plus, you can push content from KooRaRoo to your device. KooRaRoo also has much more powerful organizing features and much more :) Thanks for the feedback though!

KooRaRoo also supports FF/REW on Samsung and other DLNA devices. Samsung devices are limited in this sense because they only support "skipping" through the file by holding the left/right keys on the remote, not FF/REW, as you would expect.

I wonder if anyone reads the comments after the first day.

I made some comparisons between Serviio and KooRaRoo.
1. I tried streaming a mkv video to my DLNA compatible Samsung Blu-Ray player. KooRaRoo tried for over 30 seconds to play the file and then a "file unsupported" message was displayed. Serviio started playing within 2 seconds with no problems.
2. KooRaRoo stores transcoded files in a folder that can take up many gigabytes of hard drive space. Serviio plays most of my videos without transcoding so they play almost instantly and it does not store transcoded copies of the videos on the harddrive.
3. Serviio supports online video. KooRaRoo does not as far as I can tell.
4. Serviio is free.
5. Serviio can be controlled remotely use an Android App called Serviio Droid.
6. KooRaRoo has a nicer GUI.

Until KooRaRoo does some major updates it compares poorly to Serviio.

Its way too slow in adding a folder of under 45gb.

Also the price is extreme considering the free alternatives. I hear XBMC is well made with a myriad of accessories n it's free.

Problem right off.... my computer overheated and shut down. At the install, immediately began transcoding everything while at the same time, this tried to install some kind of start up (blocked by my scotty dog).

Apparently that was just too much. Computer shut itself down in a matter of seconds.

This shouldn't start transcoding anything until asked. I really don't see how this is going to be of any use until these bugs are fixed.
