Regarding the previous comment, iSpring Pro actually works with earlier version of PowerPoint so there is no reason to not give it a try.

If I format/Reinstall Windows on my computer how can I reinstall this software since it required activation on the 4th of March? Do I have a serial number stored with the program that I can re-enter?

There are various levels of experience here, so mentioning that we need to right click and run activate.exe as administrator if we are using Vista would be a great add to the included readme.txt. Then, when we are told to read and follow directions in the readme.txt file they would all be there, in a user friendly sort of way. Note that I am not asking for directions for Phil's OS, I am asking for directions for Vista, arguably one of the most common OSs on the planet.

When you tell us to read the directions, don't assume we all know to right click and run as administrator. Some of us are very new to Vista. Like me. Besides, I am blonde and need all the help I can get.

Thanks for another great program!

Vista required the 'right click' Run as Administrator was a perfect fix. Thanks for providing that 'Vista' specific advice.
In future, I hope to remember this next time same thing happens.

Unfortunately I have not found OpenOffice's .swf export in Impress to be very useful. It does nothing more than export the slides. All animations, timing, and transitions are lost. Still, I'm an OO fan!

As for the performance of iSpring, I hope it's an improvement over the performance of FlashSpring Pro. Don't get me wrong. Of all the PowerPoint to Flash converters out there (and there are MANY), FlashSpring was the most successful at maintaining my transitions, timing, etc. However, I experienced the same as others have mentioned so far: some pictures were moved, some animations were changed, etc. If iSpring is an upgrade to FlashSpring, hopefully most of this has been fixed.

Thanks GAOTD. I'll download and install iSpring. I appreciate the offer!

Please could youlet me know the answer to this crucial question Mr Malov?

The description at the top of this page states

Being converted to Flash your presentation can be viewed in any browser on any computer… you can also publish your presentation to your web site.

Yet your website states

Using it for work/commercial purposes is not permitted. From the iSpring Pro website - A Non-Commercial license makes unique PowerPoint to Flash conversion capabilities of iSpring Pro available for private and educational use on one computer.

Please clarify, as the 2 statements are contradictory. I have asked a few times so I am sorry for repeating myself but other commenters have had answers from you since my question and this one point is crucial to me as I would like to use the application on my website as per the description

The description on the top of this page is the description of the product itself - its possibilities, etc. There are 2 licenses of iSpring Pro - Business license ($199 USD) and Non-commercial license ($99 USD). Non-commercial license is valid for private or educational use only. For example, if you plan to publish business presentations for your business or commercial web site you should purchase Business license. If you plan to publish presentations for your students, or just publish presentations for fun at your blog - non-commercial license is good for this. You can also publish presentations using free trial license - in this case a small banner to ispringsolutions.com will be added at the bottom of each slide.

Our technical support team can help you with choosing the proper licensing scheme.

As for this giveaway offer - since the product is given you for free, its usage must be strictly non-commercial or educational. No upgrades are provided for this giveaway version.

Thanks so much GAOTD for the free software!!

Does anyone know if iSpring a separate program or if it becomes an integrated part of PowerPoint?

Thanks

By the way, another disadvantage of useing Open Office is that it is unable to convert GIF animations to flash. They only come out as still pictures.

For all those with registration problems: Forthe past few weeks I was unable to install anything from GAOD. Unlucky, a Trojan or malaware from an unidentified source, changed some configuration to your Internet connection. I worked it out the following way. Especially Vista users. I found out what was wrong with the registration at least in my case.
Follow this steps.
1. Open Internet Explorer/tools/Internet Options/connections/Lan settings. (no matter if you are Firefox user)
2.Check - Automatically detect settings
3. Uncheck - Use proxy server…if checked
4. Register

The machine may ask you to reboot…do it.

5.Install

Don't forget to run your favorite antivirus and/or antispyware!!
Give me a yes if you find if helpful!
Thanks

Re: My problem in # 111

I fixed it by reinstalling the program on top of the old installation.

After that, I put it to the test, and even though I wont be discarding my Camtasia or Videostudio, it can do some of the tasks quite well.

I wont be using it for ppt’s with video inside though. Apparently it has problems starting the videos - you have to click, and when videos, text and pictures work together that’s really no good.

Also, apparently it doesn’t recognize a full screen video inside a ppt, hide video or rezise and move video. But anyway, for less complex tasks it does a really good job.

Mind you, it’s huge on cpu (100%) and ram (Peak > 1 GB)

Thanks!

TK wrote:

Under windows Vista(any version) Activate.exe for this GAOTD offering requires use of Run As Administrator setting on launch as it writes values into the HKLM registry hive which needs Adminstrator rights or else Vista attempts to virtualise the write attempt and creates an unusable Virtised remapping of the write which the main application is unable to locate.

By the way, as far as I know, when you turn off all the intrusive access control options on Vista, you can no longer run individual programs as administrator just by right-clicking the executables. My experience has been that you need to explicitly log in as an admin user to do the installation.

What I don't understand is why you can't install these programs as a user just for that user. You can save an exe to the drive (maybe not under Program Files but I don't really care if I install them in some other directory) and run it, so why can't an installer do that too?

I really would prefer to install unknown programs as a user and affect only that user if they go wrong (or worse, are deliberately malicious). It's not a good security practise to routinely install software as admin, and *all* these GAOTDs make you do that.

Seems like a nice program, however when I try to convert a ppt with a wmv-video inside I get this message:

Microsoft Viaual C++

Runtime error!

Program:...\CPS Labs Ltd\ActiveSWF Video\VconvSvr.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

I run XP-SP2 and Powerpoint 2003

Any fix for that problem?

If your interested here is a very simple illustration of the distortion experianced when converting a powerpoint slide to Shockwave format.
I drew the smily face using the "insert arcs" commands from powerpoint.
The first slide is the image saved as a jpeg file and inserted into the slide.
The second slide is the original image drawn using arcs.
heres the link.

OK, I'll admit, at times I'm hard on GAOTD, but in truth, at least 50% of these give aways are as beta testing for the vendor. Theres as many poor programs as good. To the Mac user. please, just go away. Take your smug, Microsoft bashing self somewhere else please.
As to this program, although I have no personal use for it, it appears to be a quality give away for those in need. Thumbs up for the program and all of todays helpful comments. This is how it should be every day.

A pretty good program. Works fine with Office 2003. It converts rapidly and provides excellent quality. However, I also have Office 2007 on the same computer (albeit a different HD) and it lags quite a bit; it has crash 4 out of 7 times that I've used this. Any ideas?

A must! It is a very well done five stars software.
Thank you
For next releases I would like

1) a .flv files import (not only swf)
2) the possibility to add a video for each slide (not only audio), better if in the upper side of left menu bar (now it is possible to embed video only in the slide), like in web-seminars.

Problems Found:
Pictures are moved from their original positions
3D Composite models are broken up and their parts spread out

This program is good if you have simple Slides showing bullets and pistures, but from my experiance it still cannot convert hi end graphical animations etc. created by powerpoint.

Hi all
Initially I was very excited to see this product, however for me it has one huge negative side, unless there are others that can offer advise.

I often make up large presentations using Powerpoint 2007. This contain both 3D drawings (Drawn using only tools available through Powerpoint) and a large amount of animations.

This as well as another program I have tried are unable to retain the exact grouping and placing of any diagrams and pictures.

@100 BuBBy: You may have misunderstood me or I wasn't clear. I was not comparing the Pro version to the Free version. I do understand those differences.

In my reply to emegus in my comment #84, I should have been more clear. I did not know (or understand) that "the trial period of Pro places an advertising banner at the bottom of every slide". I was under the impression that I could download Pro for free (with no limitations) or I could pay for Pro. It was confusing to me and I was mistaken.

Thanks for your response. I especially enjoyed the sarcasm in this part: "Naturally if you feel strongly about it - you are always quite welcome to install the “free version” instead.". I think by my comment, it was quite clear that I had downloaded the Pro version of the program.

To #90 - Jen -

Jen, If you feel like you are being "having the wool pulled over your eyes" being given the "Pro" version when a "Free" version exists - check for yourself what the difference is.

http://ispringsolutions.com/go_pro.html

Naturally if you feel strongly about it - you are always quite welcome to install the "free version" instead. :)

Yes the Pro version is Free through this website for a few hours more as explained by:

The program is available for $99, but it will be free for our visitors as a time-limited offer.

Then you will realise that if you didn't take advantage of the giveaway - the software will go back to costing $99 for a Non-commercial license, or $199 for a Business license.

This is nice software. Easy download nd install. PPT 2003 works well. It does give me the ability to publish the SWF file. Not sure if I agree with Aleksey on SlideBoom. I prefer IgniteCAST.com. I can use iSpring to create Flash files for import of animations but I can also use lots of other medias to create presentations and publish for free. Also get a free client. SlideBoom did not work as well. Back to this software. Testing with full sound overlay in slides did loose some of the timing but I will need to work on that. Probably pilot error. It did stop a few times in the middle of the slide. Not sure why but have not had a lot of time to work with it yet. I would definately recommend it.

iSpring uses some PowerPoint functionality to get necessary information about presentation content. That's why PowerPoint is required.

I has the older FlashSpring Pro I had downloaded from here so it was nice to see an update today. The few times I have used it it has worked great. For those having issues installing it have you turned off your anti-virus program, and anti-spyware before installing it? If not one or both of these may be the cause. Other than that I have never had a problem installing GAOTD software. Thanks for the great free software.

Apparently the majority of visitors to this site think it is only correct to post positive comments......Or any variation of
"Thank you GOTD for selflessly offering this wonderful software. I don't know what I'd do without you. Any of you haters out there, shut up. GOTD is generously giving you FREE software so if you can't say something good then no one wants to hear your comment so shut up. So, about the software, I haven't actually used it yet, but it looks really cool. Thanks again GOTD. You're awesome!"

Do you really want to see only comments thanking GOTD? Personally I appreciate those who actually take the time to fully review the product and post their opinion. The comments about how wonderful GOTD is are a waste of space. Because I point something out that may be construed as negative or have a different opinion than you does not mean that I don't appreciate GOTD offering this to me.

Re: my above comment (#39): I was hoping to come back and see someone prove me wrong: that iSpring would open as a stand-alone program to play and convert existing PowerPoint presentations without the need for the PowerPoint program itself installed.

Without this ability, it seems the iSpring program is merely a Plug-In for PowerPoint and not a stand-alone program in its own right. If and when it's updated to open independently, I'd love to see it offered again on GAOTD.

There seems to be contradiction and ambiguity please would it be possible to clarify as surely the selling point of it “Being converted to Flash your presentation can be viewed in any browser on any computer.” implies a wide audience and although I do not know what SlideBloom is, neither does Google which makes what seemed a fabulous tool useless and contradictory to the developer’s description implications.

You don't know what slidebLoom is because you typed it incorrectly in the search line of your google.

Try this one:

If the ONLY problem with distributing/playing (viewing)
a PowerPoint presentation is that audience does not own
(legal license of) PowerPoint, please note that
anybody can play (view) a Powerpoint presentation
with FREE Powerpoint viewer from Microsoft:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=428D5727-43AB-4F24-90B7-A94784AF71A4&displaylang=en
but there are certainly many other reasons to use
this excelent PPT to Flash coverter ;-)

BTW, there are similar free viewers for Word and Excel too.

This is really a great program-I'm impressed by the number of options it has, and how native it looks to ppt2007. The first trial I did with it was to draw a star and set it spinning continuously. After I found the settings for the presentation timing (they ended up being in the logical place, go figure), and set the player to 'none' (nice feature, but not one I'll be using much), it worked as well as the presentation would look in ppt, but using fewer resources on my computer.

It really did have an impressive number of options- I've got some experience with older versions of Flash (up thru MX), and some of the things I might have tried to do were easier with this program than in Flash itself. It's nice they've got built-in options for opening URLs "on event"s...end of movie, on click, etc, as well as frame support built right into the interface.

This is my first download from giveawayoftheday.com, and given the quality of the process, I'll sure be back!

From the Publishers homepage: "Full functional iSpring Pro demo version is available for free without any time limitations."

It appears this software is offered for free, not only the iSpring Free version but also the Pro version.

I like the software but it feels like someone is trying to pull the wool over my eyes.
