@Alexey Malov: thank you for taking the time to reply to my question. I'll be keeping an eye on iSpring, I have been wishing for Flash integration in the past and I'll probably get back to Office sooner or later. I think you have a bomb of a product there, best wishes!

@93 YES IT IS A TECHNOLOGY ISSUE. You're talking about an add-in for two completely different code bases - starting from scratch to support OpenOffice. If you develop for Microsoft products you are making use of Microsoft components. There is no equiv. in the open source world. 95% of the business world uses PowerPoint. OpenOffice accounts for less than 1% of all presentation users. If you were a developer would you commit resources to 1% of your potential audience... or 95% ? Get real.

I know this is late, but maybe GOTD will post it to help people looking for legacy comments. iSpring is fantastic, professional software. We use it in lieu of Articulate Presenter, which does the same thing but costs 1400/license +/- . True, Articulate is more sophisticated, but for a small fraction of the price, iSpring is a good deal even at $299. For Free- who can argue. Next time it comes around - GRAB IT !

I am extremely disappointed!!! I have been sitting here for 6 hours trying to find something to help me with the 2738 error. I wanted this program so badly, I could cry. After trying everything here, I searched the internet for windows installation error 2738 and received pages of references with many touting "solved", so I just had to find the solution for me. But I could find none. I returned here and could see many more comments about the error were made since I was here, so I tried them all. No go. Why are so many people having this problem? Is there something wrong with our computers? I didn't think so when I started. I see others have given up trying, too. You can only do so much and then there's nothing more you can do. Besides, the offer is almost over now.

I have PowerPoint 2010, but I am getting error code 401 when I try to activate iSpring Presenter. I went into the Compatibility Tab under Properties in the Context Menu, and clicked "Run as Administrator," and I also clicked on the Context Menu and clicked "Run as Administrator" that way, as well. Then I turned off my Norton Firewall and Anti-Virus, and tried Activation again, and keep getting:

"An unexpected error occured during product activation: invalid status code 401." Any suggestions Elearning Software? Thanks anyway GOTD, I really wanted this giveaway.

@73. MSchargesWayTooMuch, "Colleges and Universities require that you have MS Office too. Wow, you spend thousands of dollars for school, hundreds of dollars for textbooks and hundreds of dollars for software."

MS actually will give you a free copy of MS Office 2010 if you are student. I understand hating big business at times but MS is actually cool when it comes to education and students.

Now for the software, this is very professional soft that I will probably only use for my children so I have no complaints like many others here about no commercial use. Imagine a company actually trying to make money for all their hard work!
They even mention that if it's not for profit it can be used commercially (non-profit), with the posibility of using it on your site in Flash version (though haven't checked that out).
All I have to say is this is a great product, maybe a bit expensive for some but well worth it if you are not afraid of spending money on a good product. This is one of those you get what you pay for, higher price higher quality.

For those comments about this should be compatible with OpenOffice/LibreOffice, yes it would be nice but you waited/decided to rely on freeware, maybe wait/hope similar soft will come out which is freeware also (not complaing, quality freeware is great but relying on freeware all the time may become a slow or sometimes useless wait.)

Thank you very much Alexey and Anastasiya for your comments and answers and overall interest to the questions and comments here, it proves that you care about your/this software and customers even if they are getting it for free, Myself and I'm sure others have only good things to say about this, and will pass this on.
Thanks iSpring Solutions and GAOTD, So far it's been an awesome year.

Installed the 32bit version of iSpring Presenter on 64bit Win7 Pro (Powerpoint not yet installed.) Extracted files from zip, ran msi file, and at completion unchecked the box to run Presenter. Then ran activate as Admin, and received a message that the program was successfully activated. Of course, it will not actually run in Powerpoint until I install office.
Thanks for answering all our questions. :^)

Re: Error 2738
This one worked for me (Win7 64, Powerpoint 2003)

1.
Start - Run - Regedit - OK
Delete the key:
“HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{B54F3741-5B07-11CF-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}"

2.
Start - All Programs - Accessories - Right click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator
Type:
cd.. + Enter
cd syswow32 + Enter
regsvr32 vbscript.dll + Enter
exit + Enter

Now follow the GOTD readme

I am very disappointed to find that this package does not work with Open Office. I downloaded it, installed, ran Open Office and had it running when I opened iSpring Present, but no success. Open Office is a mainstay for me. (Neo Office on the Mac side.) So there is no way I can use this package. I hope the developer will recognize the market. I've seen other packages that need PowerPoint work with Open Office, so it is not a technology issue.

I appreciate those attempting to resolve this issue, as I am experiencing it as well. Having done what is suggested here and following the link which is a guide in such regards, I am still having the error even after successful registrations. This is on a laptop with Office 2010 64 just installed with Win 7 Premium.

One more question about “commercial” uses. If I decided to upload a class or two to a private/public website and let people use it paid, individually, and I am generally not making a living doing this, or it is just supplement to my regular source of income, does that make me “commercial” or am I OK to do that without problems?
I believe that such use of the product is rather commercial than non-commercial.

Commerce is the exchange of goods and services from the point of production to the point of consumption to satisfy human wants. It comprises the trading of something of economic value such as goods, services, information, or money between two or more entities.

Yes, that's it - with Win7 you must extract Activate from the archive and then Run as Administrator. Otherwise it hangs and has to be terminated by the Task Manager.

I installed it and activated successfully on WinXP, but Activate hangs on Win7, connecting to GOTD. Don't know whether it's a Win7 issue or a site issue, since the site seems to have had some problems today.

I noticed on WinXP that Activate actually launches another something.tmp program that performs the activation (reported by the firewall). I would guess that this may be causing a problem with the security settings on Win7.

Unzip Activate.exe, right click and Run as Administrator

I have a new computer on which I would like to install this, but I haven’t installed Office yet and probably won’t have the time today. Can I install and activate iSpring Presenter today and then install Office later in the week?

Yes. But you need to run Activate.exe before the giveaway offer is over. If iSpring tab does not appear in PowerPoint toolbar after office installation you would probably need to run iSpring installer again. But remember: you need to run Activate.exe today to keep the installation information on your computer.

The issue I’m having is when I click on either the YouTube or Flash buttons I get a notification that I must be running Flash Player 8 or higher and do I want to install. I have Flash Player 10 installed. I tried re-installing but am still getting the message. Any ideas?

Since you are using 64 bit version of PowerPoint you need 64 bit version of Adobe Flash Player.
You may install 64 bit preview version of Adobe Flash Player ActiveX from adobe's web site (using 64 bit Internet Explorer for Windows):

Why don’t you make iSpring Presenter a stand-alone application.
iSpring Presenter uses some PowerPoint functionality during conversion, for example, saving a slide object as a picture. Implementing this functionality in-house would significantly increase the work content.

I have a 64-bit processor but run Office 07. I might be upgrading to Office 2010 in the future. Should I download both versions and run the 32-bit version now and 64-bit version only if I upgrade to Office 2010?

1. Download and install both versions. Keep giveaway version installers.
2. Do not forget to run activate.exe before this giveaway offer is over
3. You will not be able to install 64 bit PowerPoint 2010 without uninstalling 32 bit Office 2007 since MS Office 2010 Installer does not allow to have both 32 and 64 bit versions of office. However it is possible to cheat it: Uninstall Office 2007 before installing 64 bit office 2010. If you like, you may then install office 2007 after Office 2010 installation - this will work.
4. If you are not able to find iSpring in PowerPoint 2010 64 bit toolbar, you will have to reinstall iSpring Presenter 64 bit giveaway version (that is why you need to keep the installers). Since you have already run Activate.exe the program will stay activated.

To iSpring Team: First, thank you and GAOTD for offering this great program. Here is a question: Suppose I have created a few quizzes and want to put them on a CD, is there a way to make it autostart, have a menu of the puzzles, so the children can choose any of the quizzes they like to play? I cannot do it in Articulate (another similar program).

iSpring Presenter 5.6 has a CD publishing feature. It creates autorun.inf
If you need to publish several quizzes to cd and make a menu you may put all quizzes into the same presentation and create a menu with links to slides with quizzes.
Another solution is to publish each quiz into a separate HTML/SWF file and create a presentation with relative links to these HTMLs and publish this presentation for CD. Then just put the quizzes near the presentation and burn the cd.
And the third obvious solution to make such menu is to use any WYSIWYG HTML editor to create a menu manually.

[RANT] lol...MS office is a rip off. It is funny to me that MS Office costs more that the Windows OS. Colleges and Universities require that you have MS Office too. Wow, you spend thousands of dollars for school, hundreds of dollars for textbooks and hundreds of dollars for software. Now this is not degrading Ispring in any way. I just think you software would be better received if you could use it with other Office Suites, particularly OpenOffice.org. OpenOffice is highly functional, has tons of options, compatible with MS Office documents and most important of all: ALWAYS FREE! If Oracle can make a fully functional Office Suite for free where does Microsoft get off charging so much for theirs.

Great idea here ISpring and thanks GAOTD for the great offer here. I hope the comments here inspire ISpring to make the next version compatible with OpenOffice.org!

I wish I was a big enough thief to pirate MS Office and try this software out! :]

#1 and #27 and any others that want to use this softwaare commercially:

You can download a 30 day trial from the publisher's website.

The purpose of GAOTD is to provide software at no cost so that you can evaluate it for a much longer period than is usually offered.

If the software happens to be something that you really like and use all the time then purchase it.

If you need a commercial liscense, purchase it and claim the cost on your tax return (in the U.S. anyway).

You can play with the software for a year if you get it here. that is more than enough time to see if it meets your needs. It is also more than enough time to see if it will work for you commercially by setting up mock presentations at home. Just because there is a commercial use restriction doesn't mean that you can't evaluate the software.

That why GAOTD exists - so we can evaluate software, for a whole year, and then purchase it. Much better than a 30 day trial version.

Program must be activated using "Admin Rights", per Readme.txt - I can verify this, as I initially did it without "Admin Rights," and it didn't work.

To do so, please follow these steps:

1. Copy/Paste "activate.exe" app on desktop.
2. Right-click on "activate.exe" app.
3. Click "properties."
4. Place checkmark next to "Run As Administrator" Box.
5. Exit "activate.exe" app and run it.
6. Program will activate successfully.
