#47 Barbara -- Yes, you would have the same problem. Flash, as a file format, is not supported on any Apple iDevices, per dictat of Steve Jobs.

@ Margo (Comment #34) -- What makes you say that the program gives them "back door access" to our computers? How did you come to that conclusion?

First impresssion, terrible, tried another video it was ok. When playing in full screen you don't really get full screen. The program is not easy to navigate; when you finish and build you can preveiw but before you close it you have to go up to the right corner and click file and save, then it will save in the ipix folder that when you want to open it you have to find that folder open it then check in the subfolder for the one you created. Not easy time consuming but will keep for awhile.

@#45 -- The problem you describe stems from an aborted or failed attempted installation of that PDF Creator software. Windows still thinks that software installation is in progress. I have had an identical problem. I was finally able to resolve it by uninstalling the offending software using Your Uninstaller... but you could use any similar uninstaller software to do the job. Finally, you would need to search your registry for any left-over entries. When doing that search for the software name and also the developer's name.

Once ALL traces of the old software and its installation are erradicated from your system, you should have no more problems. Good luck !

I use the CoffeeCup photo gallery to make slideshows for my websites. People are unable to view the slideshow on an iPad, iPhone or even my cellphone. I've been told that that's because it uses "flash". Would I still have the same problem with this program?

Is it just me but this new GAOTD front-end installer is just installing a PDF Creator program, nothing else. I've used this service for a number of years but may well unsubscribe if I can't resolve this.

@33 . . . I agree Vince!

If it's GAOTD regulars that are down-voting because they don't like screen savers, for example, that's one thing; but to have the site flooded with orchestrated thumbs-down by competitors or thumbs-up by employees makes the voting system really worthless.

It's the comments and comparisons with alternatives that mean more to me.

Ok I tried the program out. It doesn't work 100%

What's annoying is the first screen is an intro screen for the program you used to make the slide show. Which is very lame. They try to make it so you can link photos to URL's while it works in the preview. When you export the SWF file it doesn't work.

And to be honest I wanted to make a SWF splash screen for a personal webpage that had a slide show but with its advertisement screen it just looks bad.

Installed seamlessly on my Win7 x64 machine. It is super-easy to use and make a nice slide show! It also lets me add nice little details that I've never had in previous programs of this type. I have no idea why anyone gave this a less-than-stellar review. Thanks so much, GAOTD and iPixSoft!

Flash as a format is losing support every day. The best advice I can give these developers is to expand the product to include more output formats (like some of the freeware mentioned already does): mp4, HTML + JavaScript, etc.

It downloaded and installed quickly and easily on Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit. To register you need to open the program and click the button within the box to apply and validate...which seemed to take and apply quickly and easily. It shows GOTD as the licensee and then has a key.

Running the program was easy. Not very user friendly or intuitive but easy to figure out after a few moments. I made a small 6 pic slideshow with a nice transition of fading fast and easy.

There are different areas where different settings are located making it a bit more confusing. Under help there is an Option dialogue with very little. Further down is another setting box to click on with other settings, and then within that is another. In my opinion it would be much simpler and user friendly if there was a general settings button with tabs to each area.

My only problem....or maybe issue....should it not be figured out or resolved is the fact: It leaves a link saying what software made the slideshow at the bottom under each slideshow.

Should anyone have any idea of how to remove that link please let me/us know.

All in all not a bad program for those new or needing something quick and easy to make a slideshow. However the link at the bottom of each slideshow to me is very intrusive and not very professional. If I had payed for the program instead of getting it free here today I would be extremely upset to have that appear.

Agree with Larry on the stupidity of the voting, agree with Vince about a new system for voting where downloading is mandatory before voting.

downloaded and installed fine on my windows 7 ultimate 32bit system, currently trying it out, interface looks easy enough to work with, decent themes and clipart. Nice addition to my current collection of slideshow software, yes I like to use a different one now and then. Every day pumpkin pie gets boring too after all

This software contains back door access to your computer and every time you start the program, some hidden communication is going on in the background, therefore, just uninstalled it.
To all of the developers of such back door access, sooner or later you will be sued for privacy britches and or criminal offenses.

I hate seeing conflict between comment posters, in any shape or form, but i do believe that a new system is needed on this site. We are kindly given the chance to download software from the companies that offer it to us.

The whole point of them offering free software is for valid feedback from us, the people that do try the software. The people that do comment here are the ones that will help these companies to give better products to us in the future, whether they are paid for or for free.

It takes little effort for us to try the software, if we can use it and to add a positive vote and comment or a negative vote and comment.

Someone in a previous comment stated that we do not have to have downloaded the software to give it a thumbs up or down, as the case may be.

Would it not be better then to have a voting system, whereby we must have downloaded the software to make a vote and comment.

It is paramount that we help these generous companies that take the time to offer what sometimes is outstanding software for us to download for free.

It is also beneficial to the non techy crowd, to see that we give true positive and true negative, experience of the software. That way they will feel more inclined to download the software and give it a try in the hope that it will benefit there use of the computer.

Please do not shoot me down for this comment. It is purely my own personal view of a situation, that can often become a war of words and so destroy the pleasure of reading the comments of any site.

Whilst I can get where Larry is coming from, the only way to really ascertain whether software is useful is to listen to those comments from others that have used and tested it, do some research elsewhere and also try it for yourself.

Worrying about why people vote good or bad is fruitless really and what is useless to one is priceless to another, so all views and opinions are relevant, even if you don't agree with another's viewpoint.

It's all about being able and active enough to make our own decisions.

Not too impressed. Installation was kind of okay, though with a lot of proxy-bypasses and DNS requests. The program is apparently calling home a lot.
The GUI is awful and not very intuitive. The program froze a couple of times, but once you get to know how to apply the various options things went relatively well.
Adding of music went fine, though without an option to fine-tune the volume from within the program. There are a lot of transition effects to chose from, but you can only pick one of them for all your transitions. The same holds for the transition period, no different times can be applied to various transitions.

@1, 2 & 3 Relax!

Why are you getting so worked up that other people are not you (ie don't do things the way you would)? If you took the trouble to actually read the "User Rating" box above, you might notice that actually nowhere does it state you also *must* give a written comment to justify why you gave a thumbs up or a thumbs down...

It seems you are (unconscously perhaps) just trying to impose on others your view of how the world 'should' work, rather than just accepting the world is how it actually is. And for what? You are the ones who will end up stressed and ill if you carry that sort of attitude into other areas of your life! The people who have clicked the thumbs buttons have cast their vote for the day and moved on, and will probably not be back to this site till tomorrow. It's unlikely they will ever even see your comments and moans!

Look, here's the thing, people are being asked to Rate the GotD ie give a thumbs up or thumbs down. There is *no* stipulation or requirement to comment on or justify which one you click on. Just like in a democracy, nobody is required to justify or attach a written essay as to why they voted for a particular party. It does no good to whine and complain that people are voting in a different way to you. In essense, you would do well to respect the wisdom of the crowd. You certainly cannot defeat the crowd, no matter how much you try and bully them into behaving the way you want!

If you really dislike the current voting system on this site, I suggest you lobby the GotD site owner(s) to change it, rather than bitching day after day after day that others are not using the voting system "correctly", as you see it. Life is too short for such hangups!

Chill! ;-)

Flash Slideshow Creator installed and registered without problems on Win 7 64-bit.

Does what it says on the box. Simple and intuitive interface (ugly imho but that doesn't count) and, if you have the codecs, lots of input formats are supported. Apart from SWF you can also export to HTML, EXE, screensaver or upload it. Haven't tried those options yet but the SWF itself turned out nice, good quality. You can get lots of extra templates from their site and with a little fantasy create your own in JPG format. There are also lots of tutorials.

I found a review on Softpedia and on CNet (user review) and they're quite positive about Flash Slideshow Creator.

It's a good program but very basic in its slideshow editing features. It's primarily for novices and/or people who just want to create a slideshow fast without the hassle of complex keyed actions and scripting. I think $$39.95 is a rather high price to ask, although it is a semi-lifetime license. I say semi because after a year you can't upgrade for free anymore but Flash Slideshow Creator stays fully registered and featured.

Uninstalled with Revouninstaller and only the templates weren't removed afaict. Thumbs up nevertheless. I'd simply like more features and control and Flash Slideshow Creator doesn't cut it for me. But it's a nice program and a keeper for whoever needs something like this. Thanks iPxSoft and GOTD.

I downloaded and ran it through it's paces. Or tried to.

This is not the most intuitive program.
The templates are cheesy.
The transition effects are almost non-existent.

I'll stick with Microsoft Movie-Maker 2.6 - hands down the easiest software of this type. Loads of title choices, transition effects, video, picture and soundtrack editing.

And it's always free. And you'll be up and creating your movie or slideshow straight away.

Downloaded and installed on win7 64bit with no issues. It does look quite amateurish in that it looks like a kids software program with the colour scheme etc. Don't let this put you off, it is actually a good little flash slide show creator! I've only had a quick muck around with the available samples and it seems to offer enough functions such as transition effects, music, text and photo effects for anyone to have a good muck around with to produce something that could be used on a website, or as a family album project. All in all a good little program worth a download- and it's free.

Pretty decent and basic app which does what it claims pretty flawlessly but, exactly as the REGISTRY CLEANING and VIDEO CONVERSION field, I'm afraid that this is another SUPER SUPER SATURATED ARENA nowadays....do you agree with me dudes?

* DVD slideshow GUI (==> Softpedia Editor Pick & My Personal First Choice)
Best FREE slideshow creator ever created with over 245 transitions and 100 special effects to add on your entire slideshow. With this magic FREE tool you can even add and edit music, 35 motion backgrounds, borders and subtitles.

h t t p://download.videohelp.com/tin2tin/features.html

* Microsoft Photostory 3
Awesome FREE app by Microsoft designed to create professional slideshows from your still pictures. It supports any kind of photo format, offering you a preview window and some basic editing functions. It lets you add text over your photos and even create songs on the go to add on your final slideshow.

h t t p://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Microsoft-Photo-Story-Download-24871.html (==> no WGA validation required...LOL!!)

* Simply Slideshow
Great slideshow maker which can play literally thousands of photos with a very small footprint. It can display images in Pan & Zoom effects with tons of nice and unique options, such as the "Wallpaper Slideshow" feature, which allows users to have their favorite slideshows playing in the background while surfing the web.

h t t p://www.dicksonlam.com/2012/05/09/339

Other great FREE slideshow makers are also these (Google them as I cannot post any download link today):

Bolide Free Slideshow Creator
IMGDissolver
Ezvid Free Slideshow Maker
Moleskinsoft SlideShow Maker
Socusoft Photo to Video Converter Free version

And to create compelling MOVIES from your pics, just download & install "Windows Live Movie Maker" by Microsoft and enjoy (can also be used to create a slideshow of photos with music and transition effects in wmv format)

Oh yeah...it looks like all of the FREE ALTERNATIVES mentioned above are far superior to this GAOTD, so charging money for a basic app like this (40 bucks?? Come on!!)is sheer madness, as long as you are aware of them of course (but I'm here just for this...LOL!!)

My 0.0000000000000000000000002 cents....

Specifics I don't like - the steps are clear cut, but not in the logical intuitive order most users will expect, lack of transitions/options, silly added on "effects", lack of customizable templates...I could go on, but you get the idea. Per Rahul's request, I don't know if it makes me "credible", but many of our non-techie customers buy flash drive pendants and ask us to create a custom slideshow for them to turn the pendant into a kind of digital scrapbook so I've tried dozens of slideshow programs looking for a perfect one. (And, yes, if this had been it, Bedazzled USB would have bought a copy for commercial use.) Besides being generally light on features, the price of $39.95 is pretty steep for this type of product. I also do some freelance web work and use Coffee Cup Photo Gallery ($23 USD) not just for galleries, but slideshows. I'm not saying it's the best, but I'm used to it, and I'm spoiled by the customization options when compared to something like today's giveaway. Maybe if I hadn't used so many similar programs I wouldn't be as harsh a critic.

SECOND try @ Larry -- “USER” ratings is a misnomer. No users were harmed in the making of this unique system. If you turn your speakers up right at Midnight, you can hear the race announcer yell, “And… they’re OFF!!” This signifies the start of the daily global thumb wrestling contest between competitors and a software vendor’s own employees. On certain planets, it’s legal to wager on the outcome.
