I was interested in buying this program, but the requirement for iTunes stopped me.

In the comments today, I read that "only a component of iTunes" is necessary to run this program.

So, can anyone tell us what that component is, and if we can install only that component and not all of iTunes?

I've thought of installing iTunes and then un-installing it, but it would most likely also remove the needed component.

I have downloaded, installed, and registered today's giveaway. Now I only need to know what part(s) of iTunes it needs to run!

1. GOTD should have included iTunes under system requirements
so people would not have been so surprised that it was needed

GOTD often forgets to include necessary items

2. Why are people so irritated about iTunes ?

We people that use iPhone/iPad/iPod can download among 900,000
apps in a wealth of categories, free of charge or for a small fee

I have 647 apps on my iPad, mostly gratis from GOTD's sister:
iphone.giweavayoftheday.com

About 15 I bought are Pro versions, mostly utilities/tools

iTunes Store also have the weekly free music and the free game

3. # 11, 12, 13, 14, 15

iTunes Store and/or iphone.giveawayoftheday.com has wonderful
tools-apps for transferring, copying, or backup-ing files,
pics, and videos, mostly free or handsomely priced Pro's

4. # 15 Mike

Please don't refer to winPC iTunes as an app

it confuses (many) people that have both PC and iPhone/iPad/iPod

WinPC's have programmes, iDevices have apps

5. By the way, there EXISTS apps for winPC's

go to pokki.com and download a little programme

a menu and all the apps you choose will then appear
on the QuickLaunch line at the bottom

Besides the usual ones (Facebook, Twitter, IMdB etc.)
many companies make their applications (!) ready for Pokki,

I especially like SimpleNote, WikiHow, Ancestry, TechCrunch etc.

Greetings from Tobiasson, Oslo, Norway, Europe

On another note, I tend to like Aiseesoft progs. But in this case I'm perfectly fine with iTunes. Especially as you need to have it anyway.

Says "you can export the music, video, photos and other files" ... I can't see any way to export anything other than music, video, or photos. For example, am I able to export PDF files in the Notability app on my Ipad???

I'm another one who refuses to install iTunes. Tried it once, didn't like it, and then had quite an adventure trying to uninstall it and all the other stuff it invited into my PC. Never again. Too bad there's no way to install the needed module by itself, I would even pay for that if I could see proof it won't mess up my PC.

Sorry, Aiseesoft, won't be trying your program even though I think I would enjoy using it. Thanks for making it available here!

iPhone Transfer just needs the proper utilities to allow your PC to interface with your iDevice. You can install those without having to install iTunes.

1. Create a system checkpoint.
2. Don't blame me later, if you decided not to do step 1.
3. Download iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunesSetup64.exe if you have a 64 bit system).
4. Rename the file to iTunesSetup.zip.
5. Open that iTunesSetup.zip with your unzip software, to view its internal files.
6. Extract the AppleApplicationSupport.msi file and the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi file.
7. Double-click the AppleApplicationSupport.msi file and follow the wizard to install that Application interface.
8. Double-click the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi file and follow the wizard to install that iDevice interface.
9. Reboot.
Voila! Now run iPhone Transfer and it should be able to connect to your iDevices (and you didn't even have to install iTunes).

***Bonus*** You should now also be able to charge your iDevice using your PC's USB port.

Cheers

Installed and registered without a hitch on my Win7 64 bit machine. Connected my iPad II running iOS 5, also without a hitch. But then I tried uploading a 500MB MP4 video and it failed. The process seemed to be going fine until the very end. The only error message is the word "failed" -- not very helpful. It worked the second time, but put the video in Movies. It's an episode of a TV show. I don't see any way to move the video to the TV Show category using this tool. I'll have to try using iTunes (which I really hate using -- worst UI ever) or iFunBox.

One plus is that it looks like this produce can convert videos to an iPad format on the fly. That will be handy.

It can read all of the items on my iPhone 4 well (music, photos, ringtones) using Windows 8.1

But every time I try to transfer a video, whether it's avi or mp4, the program CRASHES.

If I go to the 'Movies' tab and click the "Import File" button, I can browse to the file. But when it starts to import it over, the program crashes. I also tried going to the My Cache tab and using the "Import File to Device" function - it started what looked like to convert the video all the way through (even though it was already mp4), but again...when it began to import the file to my phone, it crashed.

I'll just stick with iFunbox and CineXPlayer

I don't own an iPhone...for those who do:

What specific functions and features are in this application, that is lacking in iTunes?

I received a nice iPod Nano as a gift .. it has been sitting in a desk drawer for 3 years 'cause I don't like iTunes. It seems like this program needs some iTunes components (drivers?). Is it possible to get these drivers online, so that this program would work on a PC without iTunes installed?

Some people here have suggested installing iTunes (to get the necessary iFiles), but then not actually running iTunes. I am very hesitant to do that as once iTunes is on my computer I'm not sure it will just sit there passively??

Am I the only one with this problem?

It seems Aiseesoft has their own idea of how big a computer screen is. Their program doesn't fit the screen and neither did their video converter - both on laptop and desktop. Need to drag it around if I want to access top and bottom.

Error message indicates I need itunes - so I need to install that before I can comment on functionality.

iTunes installs the driver necessary to interface with your iOS device. All programs of this type require it, unless they recreate the driver. So you can just let iTunes be there quietly - you don't have to use it. I agree with you all: iTunes is crap-ware.

#8: "Will this allow us to play avi files on an iDevice?"

AFAIK & FWIW, the processor & associated graphics hardware on most tablets & cells is optimized for AVC/H.264 [I've not read much or used anything with Intel's new tablet/cell processors]. Apple products may or may not be more advanced overall [everyone has their own opinions], but so far they still use available tech, plus Apple was one of the 1st to jump on the AVC bandwagon.

#10: "Will you get over the fact that it needs itunes ??
iTunes contains a COMPONENT that is used to communicate with the phone. It is this COMPONENT that is required, not ITUNES"

.
There's at least a couple of ways to look at it I think... If you don't like using iTunes that's one thing, & many of these sorts of apps sell in part because they allow users to avoid using its GUI etc. If you don't like what iTunes does to Windows, and it does IMHO have quite an impact, then having iTunes installed is having iTunes installed. It makes no difference in that respect whether you start the app or not.

#11: "Honestly, with limited storage options on my iPad and so many available cloud services I find myself transferring less data to my iPad and just making it available on the cloud."

That works very well with images & music & such, but has several problems when it comes to video. If you have data caps, because of their size, video files can quickly use them up. For many people uploading larger files [to the cloud] is a very time consuming hassle -- most ISPs I think allocate the majority of their bandwidth to or for downloads, so uploading speeds usually [barely] crawl. And no matter what your personal feelings are concerning digital rights, uploading & having video hosted on-line I think is going to invite a bit of extra scrutiny, if the service allows it in the 1st place.

Considering Aiseesoft's product lineup, I'd hazard a guess that getting video on & off your device was the primary intent of developing iPhone Transfer, but once you can transfer video, adding the capability to move any other sort of data back & forth is somewhat trivial, so why not have it?

Will this work for PC to iPod. I'm really looking for something like and iTunes for dummies. I stopped buying music from Apple because the newer versions of iTunes seemed to make it virtually impossible to transfer to my iPod.

too bad its not for android users. I will download this for my sister whom use IPhone and IPod. tested it and it works great. I transferred some songs from the computer to the IPhone and IPod. I wish it give you the option to backup the data instead of just exporting it.

Installed on Win7. The program works as advertized but it could be improved by having the ability to move or copy files between directories within in iPod. Presently it's a 3 step to cut it from one directory/category and import to another. It's a keeper. BTW, I do not have iTunes for the same reason as others who have expressed their disapproval.

1) Will this allow us to play avi files on an iDevice?
2) Does this also work to move video files to an iPad?
3) In comment #4 above, William says we still need iTunes. Just in the background while Aiseesoft runs, or with active interaction? (I also dislike iTunes and have not used it since playing with it for two days many years ago.)
Thanks.

Thanks for this nice freebie..... I always struggle with itunes when it comes to importing videos from my PC to my ipad.

apple won't let us simply drag & drop files from PC to ipad..... they insist on compelling us to use itunes but it's so damn hard and complicated to use.

This offering from GOTD is is just what I needed.

That is unnecessary. The code is "built in". When you start the application the first time, or later open Help/Register, you can see the code is already there. Just click "Register" below on the right.
