Watch out! Worked very fine for a couple of months but stations slowly started to disappear then not connect and now only a very few work. I suppose that it was "planned obsolescence" to give you a taste of it then cut you off. Overall very good when it worked but was only a tryout.

Great program, works and installs great on Win XP SP2 AND WIN VISTA Home Premium.

I love the idea of having awesome dance/trace/house radio stations in one little program that are the ones you can only find on premiums like XM and Sirrius satellite subscriptions.

Two thumbs WAY UP for this one !!!

Thanks for this one GAOTD - installed all necessary software and IRF launched fine. I'm a British ex-pat living in the centre of France, limited broadband, radio idem due to granite hills: just watched BBC and Sky news, am now listening to classical music from Russia, will later tune in to some Japanese radio and tv.

I'm real late to post today, but I will anyway, in case it gets moderated in time to help someone. No expert, but have played with Screamer, Raima, and others hoping to record songs from internet radio. Have done a lot of radio/tv streaming. To Whiterabbit, I can only talk American law, having worked in broadcasting here. Here, if you can legally recieve it, you can legally record it. You just can't use it for anything other than your personal enjoyment. Of course, there's nothing to stop them from using various gimmicks to ruin your recording. Fortunately, you won't find that on internet radio to speak of.

I feel today's software is akin to AOL. It's an unnecessary portal that simply gets between you and the internet. If you like the player, that's one thing. But there are plenty of free guides to links, many mentioned above. You'll never even be able to check a fraction of the available stations on these sites, anyway.

One thing about Screamer, Raima, Station Ripper, etc. They attempt to detect the "tag" information and divide up each individual song for you. One problem is the detection available doesn't work properly on most stations. It's really designed to work well with old fashioned streaming stations were there is a notable pause between each song. With standard commercial radio, which attempts to have no "dead air" between songs, the detection - which starts near where the new tag for the next song is sent - simply can't consistently detect where a song starts or ends. So you end up with almost all mutilated songs. Also, as mentioned above, only certain stream types, like mp3, carry the tag information. That's why many stream types, like wma, don't show any song/artist info. On the other hand, that means you can record as much as you want of those streams and chop them up later if you want. I would rather the software do it for me, but have only currently found one old fashioned streaming station that any of the rippers can keep up with. The point is, with the state of the current tech., it's easier to get sound card recording software, Audacity has it as a sub feature and, of course, is a useful editor. But there's a lot simpler software out there. No recommendations, because the sound card recorder I'm experimenting with is too crude to recommend. A really simple editor for chopping the songs up is mp3DirectCut: http://www.mpesch3.de
