The easiest one to use to clean imperfections from old scan and remove dates and unwanted objects. I downloaded it the last time it was offered bit it stopped working less than 3 months after the download saying it had expired and I needed to buy a new license.

Here's a little tutorial page and video on how to use the multiview tool: http://www.theinpaint.com/inpaint-how-to-use-multi-view-inpaint.html

I'm glad this appeared on GAOTD again, as I missed it the last time.

To the developers:

1) Provide a much easier way of changing brush size... how about Shift + mouse-wheel (with size in pixel always visible in statusbar or such)?
2) When people are suggesting, "Allow the user to choose from which region to take replacement pixels from"... how about offering a secondary marker (this one in light blue/cyan) to highlight the regions the replacement should come from... and add/return the "lasso" option for this as well.
3) Allow one to click shift+ctrl(left/right) to go to next image-file in dir.
4) create option for "region shape" (normally a rectangle) to be in shape of "highlighted shape" (normally within the rectangle).
4) Provide hotkeys for the RUN and Clear-Selection buttons.
5) Provide a way to scroll within the image with the mouse... currently one has to use the cursor keys (just figured that out)

I adore this little programme! I download it every time it's offered. I use Photoshop, PSP, Gimp and Paint.Net but this little beauty needs no fiddling - just mark what you want to delete and voila! For truly high end graphics you'll need other tools, but for the average graphics hobbyist and photo retoucher, it's a godsend. Thanks GAOTD and Teorex for making this available to us. You rock!

Holy **** ! I just tried it for the very first time and I'm IMPRESSED. I edited a pic of my dog lying in a huge "carpet" of Snow-In-Summer (plant covered with small white flowers) and in the background lots of green plants. Unfortunately the original is rather ruined by a bright orange garden hose lying between the flowers and the green plants & showing a lot in both the left and right side of the pic. Again, this was my first try & 5 minutes later the hose was removed and you can't see it has ever been there (unless you zoom in VERY closely). Awesome, I can now print out a large copy of this beautiful pic and hang it on my wall :-D Happy-happy-happy ! Will definately keep this program & I'm pretty sure I will BUY it when a newer version is released. THANK YOU, GOTD !!!!!!

As a follow-up to my previous comments, I have uploaded the before and after images for you to see. It is just a random image, and was done in about 2 minutes using only InPaint 4.7. From this point, using a photo editor, I could clean it up immensely more but we are just looking at InPain 4.7 right now.

Here is the link to the original image:

and this is InPaint'ed:

Remember, this is what one would call "quick-and-dirty". It certainly is NOT a finished image, nevertheless it gives you an idea what one can do right-out-of-the-box with no prior experience.

Cheers all !

I have Windows 7 64-bit. I downloaded the program, as I have with many programs through GOTD, followed all the instructions including closing the program then clicking on "activate", and it will not let me register/activate it. It says the site "cannot be reached." I've been trying for 11 hours now, with no success. All I get is a blank screen with the name of the program. Now I have less than 2 hours left to activate, and I'm exhausted and going to sleep. This is the first time in several years of using GOTD I've ever had this happen. I am extremely disappointed!

After a quick test, the Inpaint algorithm seems to have much improved with this version 4.7 (though I would still like to see the lasso tool again). Thanks Teorex and GOTD!

Thanks for the opportunity to try out this version. It works well... not in all cases of course, but well enough that this is easily the first tool I'll be reaching for to remove small anomalies. In particular I like its easy of use and generally predictable results. A good tool should always be as consistent as possible. But being a tool, one needs to work with it to find its niche and limitations. This is best learned by trial and error and I dare say one should be totally fluent in InPaint's uses within one afternoon at a leisurely pace.

I also like the simplicity of the interface. It is a no nonsense approach, in other words attention has been paid to the quality of the product, not on glitz and glamor. Well done!

If I had and wish at all, it would be to be able to use this as a plugin with PhotoShop and the myriad of other editors. However, maybe that would lead to potential problems etc., I don't know. I do know that many plugins are rather fraught with problems, especially when the host software goes through a revision.

So yes, I really do think that InPaint is a very good product, and probably the best in its class. If you have a digital camera, this is one software tool you should not be without. The price is reasonable too.

Thanks to GAOTD and TeoreX for this fine new release. I'd also like to thank TeoreX for the little chuckle I got with the download filename ... " InPain... " LOL. Did you guys mean that? Well it brightened up my otherwise gloomy, overcast day. Thanks.

Inpaint4.7 does not work in XP SP3. This has happened last time also. I had a previous to previous version of inpaint. I uninstalled the whole thing with Revo uninstaller and tried again but with the same result. From last time on wards it shows a Microsoft error message. It would be highly appreciated if you could advise me what to be done next within the stipulated time, i.e within 2 hrs 59 mts. Thank you.
