Wow! Very useful indeed. I have lots of photos and I never realized until now just how many duplicates I had. I can delete them and save some space on my hard-drive. Great program! Where's the help file though? It took me forever to figure out how to use it :-)

The interface of this app is a little clunky, specifically when unselecting or rep-processing images; The fact that you can't seem to re-use a database or change your percentage match criteria without re-processing the image lists is a major drawback. Also, you can't seem to process within a single list - dups in the list can be found, but only when comparing to another list. For my money, DupDetector does as good a job in identifying duplicates, the interface is easier to work with, and it's always free. The only downside of DupDetector is that it doesn't support all the file types... but a simple batch format converter takes care of that problem.

A little slow, and unfortunately it doesn't allow you to pause and resume later - which means that if you really do want to compare thousands of images... ...you almost have to leave your computer on. (Though, hibernation *might* work, but that's temperamental on Windows AND Linux systems!)
Also, this program uses it's own themes, and, scarily enough the programmers seem to have wasted time creating their own widgets (controls).
Please, please, please... to all companies, PLEASE to NOT EVER bother doing this! Theming is the LAST step to the creation of a program, and yours is far from complete!
Creating widgets (controls) to accomplish the same mission as existing ones is also an incredibly huge NO-NO! The simple reason for this is that Windows (and Linux, etc.)'s widgets have been tested for much, much longer than yours have and have a lot more features than yours (not to mention that they're a lot more polished). Resist the temptation and just say no.
Now finally, as for the program itself again, I have to emphasise that the interface needs a lot of work. The glitchy scrollbar is definitely in need of fixing. The lack of a summary makes me wonder just how many images I have to go through. I also find that whenever this program gets an image dupe wrong, it's always the same images that come back in other incorrect dupe detections. And one last thing: Line art confuses the hell out of this program.
#33 (Yaraslau) - I don't see how that program's of any use for comparing images. Heck, using XP's thumbnail and details modes would be better than that program. I don't see ANY comparison feature in the screenshots.
#34 (Robert hulsie) - The features list doesn't mention comparing images, only generel file comparisons, and sound comparison.
#40 (Bob) - Calm down. You probably just pointed it to a folder which contained that folder. Just because it's accessing it doesn't mean it's doing something to it. "Trying to access" could mean writing as much as it could just mean reading.
#42 (Bert) - I think that's just like the other programs: They included the generic ToS, only that this time, they prepended a portion about GotD. (If it begins bothering me about registration, though, I'm finding another tool. This one is definitely not worth money yet.)

My first problem with this software. I've found a major problem (for me, anyways) with this software. This might not apply to many English-speakers, but the lack of Unicode support is a major problem for a lot of us who live international lives.

All I get is ???? where Japanese characters should be and Image Comparer freaks out. Disappointing. I'll still use it until I find something that fits the bill.

Notice the user agreement says it's free for 30 days. Will this or other DOTD software eventually quit unless we fork over cash???

IMPORTANT>>>>> POSSIBLE VIRUS Just downloaded and installed program. Tried to compare two folders that contain a few thousand images. Got an error messsage immediately, then I received a warning message that A PROGRAM WAS TRYING TO ACCESS MY OUTLOOK ADDRESS FOLDER I wonder if this is a hidden virus in this here freebie software today. OR, it may thingk I have an email to the companies tech support website, but I am taking nom chances... remove away it goes as does my curosity to download any additional "free" programs in the future!!!

Hmm. This software ranges from remarkably good matching to infuriatingly bad matching. And, the user interface stinks, especially when looking at the scroll bar. But is it a keeper? Dunno. I'll work with it some and see.
