Using Win 7 x64 Home Premium with one monitor. For me installation went just fine. Basically what you can do here is take a standard map and do mark-ups. Then it becomes interactable as the user can provide their own point of interaction to be able to reach the requisite goal. It's a very nice idea and for many small business web-sites it would be a god-send. Unfortunately, note the term "would".

Although the software is quite easy to use, for me the changes/project I saved just would NOT interact with my browsers. I tried, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Explorer ... all the majors. Too bad. It's a great idea. But if your coding won't work with a particular browser locally, you can bet it won't work with online users. A prerequisite in the web-developers' toolkit.

I have a considerable amount of experience in building web sites. I just would not put anything live online that I wasn't confident would work with 100% reliability.

To reiterate, it's a darn shame this didn't work for me. I sincerely hope the developer finds where the problem lies. Although I deleted today's installation, I intend to keep following this developer. Once it works really well it will be a dynamite piece of software.

Thanks for putting this up for us WebUnion. I know that many will be eager to follow the development of your software.

Our published map should be viewable in most browser (IE9+, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Android/iOS Browser), if you make changes to the project, you may need to click the "preview in browser" to view the latest update or you may refresh your external browser if you already open the map.

I had no problem installing it on Win 7.

Then I gave it a quick look. For what I am really interested in, which is shop planograms it appears to be a very basic drawing program which did not impress me. I tested the maps and company charts found it also too basic.

Uninstalled

Thank you for all your comments on iiCreator. Firstly we like to apologize for the server over quota issue -- we didn't expect so much traffic coming for GOTD directly to our website. This is the 2nd time we tried GOTD (the first time we were giving away A4DeskPro), and the traffic we got for iiCreator to our website is a lot higher. We have not adjust the server for sufficient bandwidth which is an obvious mistake, and we haven't seen such error message for a long time
ourselves :-)

We also appreciate all the comments / suggestions on iiCreator. We do notice the display problem of the installer on a dual-monitor system as by default it is set to display "in center" of the screen. We will fix this in the next release and will also include other possible suggestions from users.

Again, thank you for the support and if you had any problem to download the iiCreator free installer, please try again as our server is fully backup now.

Installed with no trouble on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Application opens off my right screen and I was unable to re-position it until I got past all the pop-up dialog boxes that preceded the main start screen. Does what is says and it pretty cool for an interactive image that goes way beyond the old image mapping of the past. The hover effect on the image is very cool and it is easy to set up many different interactive areas with all the built-in tools.

Two thumbs up! Webmasters and front-end developers should grab this one before this giveaway ends!

Thank you WebUnion Media and GOTD.

I would like to... suggest an idea I would increase the price, it seems very VERY valueable. But in reality maybe you should create more opportinities like this, but with '25% Off' and such ideas. Good luck! And don't make any stupid choices, be generous but not too much, post screenshots and feature lists, you know the usual setup! People need info before purchase! -- And I would improve it with streamlining user interface, up to date outlines, simple but beautiful, maybe black and purple, pure black with a line down all glowing purple, glossy finish. I don't know, I'm just an artist for now!

UPDATE II: AWESOME POTENTIAL AS A SOCIAL MEDIA SHARING TOOL!

I produced an interactive image for the mobile web. The published image automatically included 'share' tabs for Facebook, Google Plus, and Tweeter. How very cool and awesomely useful for EASY PAINLESS social media sharing.

I tested the Google Plus share button at the top of my iiCreator image. That G+ share button made it super easy to post to my G+ page.

Unfortunately, the developer made one major goof that blows the Social Media advantage of an iiCreator image.

The iiCreator share button onlys post a link to your interactive image -- it doesn't post the image to your social media page! Worse yet, the caption for the link to your image says: "iiCreator Interactive Image Creator by iMapBuilder". That's it! Same caption for all links to any interactive image. You can't even customize the language of the link to describe your image.

Listen iiCreator Developers!
iiCreator has the potential to be an awesome social media sharing tool (and I bet you all didn't even consider that prospect). BUT THE iiCreator IMAGE SHARED TO A SOCIAL MEDIA POST MUST SHOW AT LEAST A STATIC IMAGE OF THE INTERACTIVE IMAGE...with the ability to customize the description for the link to the interactive image. If you do that, iiCreator will become an highly attractive tool for avid social media users. In fact, iiCreator's social medial potential is this software's greatest possible feature.

Seems to run ok, except all the markers are missing. The dialog box to select them just shows the usual "missing picture" icon. Any one else having this problem? Could it be related to the Quota Exceeded issue?

UPDATE: iiCreator works OK in Android Mobile Browsers but with less functionality.

I created an iiCreator image with a hotspot that shared both an external link and a pop-up info box.

The image displayed nicely in Firefox for Android. The hotspot for the external link worked fine. But the pop-up info box doesn't function too good.
The hotspot for the pop-up box requires a mouse-over...which doesn't work well on a Touch screen. You have to tap the hotspot to get the info box...BUT if you used the same hotspot for an external link too, the tap sends you to the external link and opens the info box AT THE SAME TIME. Thus if you only wanted the info box to open, too bad! When you return to the mobile page with your image, the text box remains open and it is not easy to make it disappear.

Lastly, some advice for using iiCreator for the mobile websites. Optimize your image size for the mobile web before importing into iiCreator. Also, do any photo editing or enhancements before importing into iiCreator.

iiCreator's developers need to improve their software ability to produce functional 'hotspots' for the Mobile Web.

Reply   |   Comment by Preston Mitchell  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

You are right, there is no mouseover event for touch screen device, therefore we will use the touch event for touch screen device to popup the infobox, at the same time if user set a external link for hotspot, we will open the external link as well. If you need infobox and external link at the same time and also want to view the map in touch screen devices, we suggest you to put the link inside the infobox and remove the external link attribute, so user can open the infobox and click on the external link inside infobox if necessary.

iiCreator is very cool & useful!
Issues Reported by Others did not happen to me.

iiCreator provides an easy way to add interactive hotspots to images, such as 'tool tip' pop-ups, link spots, & etc. I have other software tools that can do the same thing...from Adobe CS programs to SnagIt Editor....but iiCreator does it faster...therefore, I like it.

I did not experience the issues reported by others today.

1. After installation, the software and its registration screen did open 'split' between my dual monitors. But I dragged the registration window over to the left monitor and successfully completed registration without any difficulty. After the registration box went away, I dragged iiCreator over to the left monitor and maximized its window without issue.
2. The software performed as advertised on my test images. The software is very intuitive. I did not read HELP to figure out how to successfully edit an image.
3. The image previewed nicely in the current versions of Firefox and Chrome. The hotspot areas on the image functioned properly. (I did not test in IE, Opera, or Safari.)
4. Oh my gosh, the parent company is A4DeskPro. OK, it is a Chinese software company, but they have been around for a long time and they are a reliable vendor that puts out stable software. They were the Chinese leader for software that produced Flash components for websites, such as Flash audio players.

DISCLOSURE: iiCreator's website crash nearly spooked me from installing their software. So, I used my old PC with Windows XP Pro SP3 x32 and created a virtual environment for the installation (used ToolWiz's Timefreeze v2.1 for the sandbox). Thus, all I can say is that iiCreator works like a champ in XP. :-) :-) :-) Next, I will do a W7 Pro x64 installation inside a Sandboxie sandbox...as a final test before trusting an iiCreator installation on my workstation.

This is a 4 mn test.

1. For complex programs like this GORD, local help is mandatory. Especially when the developers' web site is unavailable most of the time. Can't remember when I see a QUOTA server error before. Most unprofessional.

2. I created a new chart. Move a rectangle. The underlying text box didn't move and I was unable to edit the text inside, to move/delete the textbox. What is it I can do?

3. Then I started over. Lost all changes without warning. Why bother saving hours of work...

4. Tried with a new exhibit plan. Deleted all rectangles by mistake. Cannot be undone: no Ctrl-Z, no Undo menu... Don't know how to modify plan (moving rectangle moves some rectangle but it's empty and the booths stay where they are.

I don't understand the choice of working with form shapes instead of objects. With objects, you would have a list of objects, along with their properties (dependencies, shape, name, ...). For a given object, here you have to dig through multiple collapsing windows: label, rectangle; you have to see and remember because underlying shapes are masked), with the high risk to forget to update something. Very cumbersome,counter-intuitive.

Well, 70 MB of software of this is to much mystery for me. Uninstalled. This is a pity because I feel this program would have been quite interesting, should have taken the developers another road. Obviously, the quota issue is adding to the negative points.

PS

Go to subfolder %install path%/files/system/samples. The .ic5 files are zip files. You'll understand many things looking inside and launching a .html file in your browser.

iiCreator's website crashed.
When I visited their website to further research this software, I landed on a blank web page with this error message: "This application is temporarily over its serving quota. Please try again later." :-( That's a bad sign in my opinion. So, thank you for today's offering...but no thank you.

I have no idea what you guys are doing, everything works for me on a windows 64bit machine, no problem inserting my own email address with the @ on the first field and serial number on the second. I can select markers and place them correctly, centers the window every time I open it, of course I'm using a single screen, published it and it's all cozy, their website doesn't work and I'm not Chinese either.

To put a @-sign in the the registration field put @ first in the adressbar, cut it and paste @ in the registration field.
The interface is resizable(Windows7Prof).

The initial setup was problem free.

This is similar to other software such as Balsamiq, and Visio.

It would be nice to have things like flowchart elements, Math, shapes and for me UI elements (for software user screen designs.

I can't respond to usability in a day, as time is required to truly evaluate, but it appears to have basic functions and for me that is a problem.

Installed without problems on win 7/64. But at start the startscreen is divided between my two displays and it is impossible to move it. As Karl already mentioned it is not possible to insert the @ in the mail address (even not by ALT-064). I could not close the program exept by the taskmanager. So - no chance. Deinstalled.

Reply   |   Comment by Carl  –  8 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+13)

I sometimes come across a place, where ALT Gr+@ wont work.

I then usually open notepad, write @ and use Ctrl+a, then Ctrl+c and finally in the e-mail field where I need to insert the @ I use Ctrl+v.

No problems registering and viewing with MS Edge on Windows 10.
I think this software might be useful for collaborative work "on the go", but in my case I don't need it because I use Autodesk 360.

Can't think of any free alternatives for that, so it may be a good idea to keep this.

win 7 64bit. Love it, only shruggestion is when it first starts, have it MEMORIZE SCREEN LOCATION.

I wonder if the binary was compiled on a system with one screen? As it set to start CENTER SCREEN
if you have two screens then you have this application in the Crux between both monitors. Little confusing to start but after it's up and running wow a Real nice chunk of gold program in there. My VisuaL Bassic 6 used to have this option for an app to open center screen, it doesn't work for all apps.. It's okay for a single monitor. But more than one screen and multi sub menus and suddenly you scratching your head. WHat happens is your sub forms cover the initial forms and they go off screen and you have to look at all the screens to find which dialog button isn't letting you regain control / or focus on which window.

Broken logic example: I have main menu, I go to sub menu, then there is an alert, WHILE the alert is propped up I try to re-click main menu anywhere. But ALERT want's me to CLICK OKAY, and so I never get to main menu, or any other sub menu. This type problem in addition to having more than one monitor, made this program start with much confusion here. I had browers and other stuff open as well. ;o) The SIMPLE way to explain this program is rephrasing it " MAKE the program REMBER SCREEN LOCATION." I have patience and all that so I got through the layers but it all goes away if screen location is memorized

Installed and registered without problems on a Win 10 Pro 64 bit system. For an unknown reason I could not enter the at(@) sign in the registration field for email.

A Chinese company from Hong-Kong with address
"Established since 1996, WebUnion has provided service to clients in over 120 countries and is a leading provider of map software, cloud-based mapping and interactive image solutions."

Now this is something really different. Usefull for those who want to pep up their web pages with interactive images.

Upon start a small only to full page resizable interface opens. In the preferences you can define the path to different folders, no other options, no change of the language (I didn't find anything...)

You add an image and with the built in editor you can draw (add lines, circles, polygons) abd text...

The test with the new Win 10 Edge Browser failed:

Just for the name sake, this is going to confuse a lot of people but under the hood, according to Ultimate's previous marketing methods, Ultimate is the same as Enterprise w/exception it's geared to the home user due to licensing.
