When I click on the desktop icons created after installing several programs from GOTD i get this error message:

"The item referred to in the shortcut cannot be accessed. You may not have the appropriate permission."

This happens even if i right click and open it as administrator-which I am and I have administrator privileges. Any idess how to fix this?
Thank you.

Downloaded/installed fine on Vista 64-bit. No trouble registering.

I didn't try the Android Converter, only the i-Studio 6.

The interface is pleasantly iTunesy, and clean and straightforward.

I was hoping it would convert Apple's protected m4p music files to mp3, but I couldn't immediately find an option for that. First impression makes me think it's only for downloading videos... If that's not the case, maybe it's not as straightforward as I thought.

I only tested the YouTube downloading option. It's got a simple browser in it that might be improved with an address bar, or at least a better way of searching videos besides YT's search.

I tried downloaded a YouTube video and got an error that the video was no longer available (it's playing, obviously it's available). Tried again on a different video and got the same error.

I didn't test it any further since the first thing I tried didn't work. Only other thing I noticed was that the program is really slow. It took a long time to open and its browser was slow too.

Another iPXXX converter... Costing $42 bucks! Absolutely unusefull to any clever user. If iPhone (and all other unusefull Apple gadgets) is a so terrific smartphone, (to justify its price and, mainly, its fame), it should be able to play a very large variety of (in my opinion ALL) video standards directly, without conversion. And freely. If it does not do this, this means it is a very bad smartphone choice. My smartphone plays any video directly, without need of conversions, and it does this for free. So Thumbs Down to both, this software and all Apple gadgets. Thanks GAOTD but I pass today.
Please GAOTD, no more iPXXX converters!

1) this application does not deal with protected file, from the vendor website: "i-Studio is not able to convert DVD-videos or other videos or audio-CDs that are equipped with an effective copy protection. Annoying, but it was not our idea and we cannot change it"

2) this application cannot transfer files to iPhone, iPad and other apple devices. it only converts, for the transfer one will need iTune or an alternative as well.

3) although many people here complain regarding Apple, this application is NOT related to Apple it is not made by them. (BTW, the only way to make Apple change their propriety policy is by avoiding buying any of their devices).

4) about this software, all it does is a format conversion, there are many free (and better) alternatives. I was curious to see why they would charge $40 for something anyone can get for free so I have tried it. slower than the competition (no acceleration through the graphic board available, not for AMD's ATI nor for nVidia). the quality of the output file is inferior to the free competition. for free and way better alternative, try Freemake http://www.freemake.com/free_video_converter/

I haven't tried either software offering today, but in reply to those who simply say that there are other, free, converters, I have tried to use a number of free converters to make my videos play properly on my Android phone, and they failed. No matter how I adjust sound quality, resolution, etc., the sound and video just will not sync properly when my phone plays them. And I have tried the mainstream video players that are supposed to help with this problem; they don't for me. This seems to be a common problem on low-midrange Android devices. If the Android conveter being offered here today solves this problem (someone please tell me, I really don't have time to test it right now), then it does offer something unique and worthwhile.

Downloaded, installed, and registered with no problems. However, my tablet, the Motorola Xoom, is not listed in the device selection drop-down. And, because this is a GOTD with no support, etc., I won't get any updates if they ever do decide to add the Xoom. So this software is basically useless for me.

Registration worked fine for both products on my side. My opinion after my first look: It's worth to give it a try. And hey, it's free. :)

#16 - I take it you do not have antivirus or had it off as the download from Format Factory has a trojan in it. Identified as win32/startpage.i!generic, it can change the start page of your browser (posibly to ask) even though you may of unchecked the box when you were asked. It then implants in the registry to execute at each windows start-up. I think it is fair to say that unless the 'free' software comes from GOTD, you should ignore it or at least use every precaution. While this one may not be 'serious' in some eyes, it is, none the less, without your knowledge and permission and possibly the financial backing for your "free" software.

There are many free converters out there for this type of thing & most do more. If I gave my full opinion about what I think of Apple & their overpriced iWhatevers the moderators here would surely delete my comment.
Have a great day.

Tried 3 times to convert a DRM protected music file to MP3. Program kept saying task was completed but when I clicked open output folder the new file did not exist--the output folder was empty. Not good. Will be uninstalling.

Re: Formet Factory--It does not convert DRM protected files from Apple. This program claims to do that.

There's a lot of these video converter programs available, many of them free (such as Format Factory), and not much is written here to distinguish i-Studio 6. It looks like a decent program, but at $40 there is a lot of competition, so it should have at least a few features that make it better than the others. None were obvious to me reading the description here or on the Engelmann web site. What are they? There are some screen shots on the Engelmann web site which should probably have been copied here on GoTD, but they don't show any obvious advantages either.

There is a tablet that you may have heard of. Called the Nexus 7. Perhaps you might consider updating the software to include it in the device list for video.

To those who find this a waste of time, perhaps a little researching about how ringtones & video for smartphones are created.
.
It doesn't matter how much is spent on the smartphone, each phone plays the same formats, others play and recognize similar music formats too.

In the interests of whether i-Studio 6 android converter, had installed correctly... so far on my Windows 7 32bit - Home Premium machine, this program installed without a problem. Just be certain to disable the anti-virus for 5-10 minutes to avoid the program from crashing upon setup or extracting.

Once it's installed, the antivirus may have the function to re-enable the active interface just as AVG 2012-13 does.

@Entruchio: Because i-Studio 6 is for Apple and as with all things Apple it uses its own unique set of propietary restrictions most average users arn't aware of or don't know how to manually configure. Same applies to Playstation or XBox or any other media device, they all have converters written for them.

I don't have an Apple or Android device either so I won't review. Thanks GOTD and Engelmann Media. And have a nice day.

I have a very cheap, generic smartphone. It plays .mp3, displays .jpeg, plays .avi and .flv. I'm sure more expensive units are capable of the same. I can't see any purpose in this software whatsoever.

Apart from reducing file sizes, why on earth would anyone bother?

It looks like a great program, but nothing I read on the website indicates any usefulness for the Windows 7 phone. I'm finding this to be true of a lot of products out there. Perhaps the creator will consider that in an expanded edition or even a separate program.
