Downloaded & installed & activated with no problems on Windows XP SP2 using IE browser: .NET v4 download prompted automatically.

I'm always impressed when the developer is available here with their offering, so thanks, Mirolit!

This needs a timer feature!

Yet, don’t worry if the new version (1.105) doesn’t have a Record button. The earlier version did not allow to save your recording anyway! That’s why I mention that you could use Audacity to record your creations.

This is NOT TRUE.

Mirolit Halotea Ver1.061 (previously given in GOTD on 9 November 2011) allows recordings, combination of music sources and allows you to save the resulting combined music file.

I just combined Henry Mancini's Charade + Rainy Night in Halotea Ver1.061 and RECORDED the combination WITHIN Halotea Ver 1.061 after which, I SAVED the file.

You can even name the folder and the file that you want to save the recording to.

It is saved in OGG format.

You can use Halotea to play it back, of course.
Or any other media player, for example, VLC.

Downloaded it and had problems with registering. The site wont generate a code and even if it did the program wont input the whole thing. Uninstalled and tried again and now I don't even get a trial period. Uninstalled for good.

I didn't install this last year because of the .NET requirement but thought I would hold my nose and try it this time anyway. Wrong!!!

I can't believe how this company stays in business.

In addition to the 5 MB actual program folder files (the location which you can control), setup adds another 32 MB under the Windows Docs & Settings folder (a location fixed by Windows and already has too much bloatware). but the real kicker is the !!!!!! 730 MB !!!!!! required for the .NET Installation! Over THREE QUARTERS OF A GIGABYTE for a simple "relaxation" sound generator!!! YGTBK!!!

At that point I said enough is enough and started deleting! On top of an ungodly disk space requirement, earlier comments have detailed other installation issues that are deal breakers such as the hardware tied activation which invalidates the key if you change your hardware configuration - EVEN FOR PURCHASED VERSIONS. This is much worse than some of the installers from back in the DOS days.

Thanks to all the posters listing freeware links there is no need for this resource hog.

GAOTD usually does much better.

Downloaded without a hitch. Ran the installation on Windows Vista and installed no problem even though have the full version of Halotea installed from previous GiveAway. I then opened the Readme file and started the program as instructed. The small pop-up window provided an installation key which I copied and pasted on the web site as instructed and tada! Received a registration key. I entered the registration key in the appropriate space of the popup window. Closed the program and reopened it to a fully-functional program. Will give the program a try later but looks interesting. Thanks GAOTD and Mirolit.

@# 60 and others disliking loads of stuff dumped into Documents and Settings, Users, or whatever your OS uses:

The install is large and rather scattered, I would rather that skins & audio samples be found under the program directory rather than in multiple application data directories – makes it hard to backup, clean up & manually browse / manage the library.

Blame Microsoft for Windows 7 programming requirements!

For an app to be compliant with Win 7, M$ requires that all data aside from the program & DLL's be placed there. It's NOT optional, so expect to see more of this [IMHO dumb] behavior.

Alas.

Also, the uninstall didn't remove the stuff in WinXP's Documents and Settings for me.

Revo uninstaller did, though.

What 'plug-ins directory' does it refer to? There is nothing in the Application or Setup event logs and no installation log file, so I've no idea what folder (directory is old-school) it's referring to.

Activation worked using Google Chrome, reccomend everyone deletes whats in the form box on the Reg code site and then paste the installation ID into the box using CTRL - C. Works well on Windows 7 64 Bit Home Premium, no bugs that I know of have popped up in the program in fact I'm listening to it now while typing out this comment. My friend liked the program too so I went onto his laptop and downloaded a copy for it. Think I'm going to use this when I go to bed tonight and see how fast I can fall asleep. Usually listening to a local radio station while sleeping. Thanks Mirolit for some great software. I'm on a budget and your giveaway helps me with my overall daily life ( and most importantly my stress levels too!)

See comment #2.
Lite is almost the same as 1.061 but without recorder, and with some new features (also available in latest Full version) (import of themes, and samples in any audio format) and some fixes.
So if you like Halotea 1.061, you can test Lite (or not :) ) - they can be installed at the same time and don't affects each other.

Since this is meant to be relaxing, why don't you have a facility for it to turn the computer off after a set period of say 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes? That way we can go to sleep listening to it, without wasting electricity?

Which is better: the OLD FULL version you gave last year, or the NEW LITE version you are offering this year??

By now, people seem to be posting that today's offering is downgrading from the copy some of us already have....I now have both and want to know if there is anything the new lite version does that the old full version doesn't.....Thanks.

Hey guys, if you like this software and use it from the last giveaway, purchase it! That's the way the system at GOTD works. If you like it and use it, purchase it to support GOTD, the company and make it more likely that other companies will offer their programs for free unobstructed trial. I see lots of freeloaders out there taking advantage of the system by hoping from giveaway to giveaway of the same program. I also see someone from Mirolit pulling triple-duty on a Sunday to answer questions and make sure things go as smoothly as possible. That is a sign of a great company, so support it! The folks at GOTD do a great job contacting companies and getting them to offer us free trials of their programs. Do your part to support GOTD and the software companies and work with the system, not against it! This GOTD system is far superior to the old shareware days with the nag screens and time limits. That was much more fair to the software companies because of the freeloaders, but a pain to the users. Let's not go back there!

Nice Program to Bad only the lite version Given away as it would of been nice to export my sounds to play on other machines otherwise does what it says it will do.

A small note for GOTD Users as this was pasted on the Bottom of their website page in very small print.

Notice for Halotea 1.061 users:
Halotea users whose trial period has expired can use this update to get 14-days trial period again! If you are using fully functional version of Halotea downloaded from GiveawayOfTheDay.com and not going to buy license in future - don't update your version of Halotea (otherwise you get a trial version).

Thanks you GOTD and Halotea for todays download.

Would have to second #49- A visual countdown clock would be very practical, that way you'd be able to know how much time there would be until your next scheduled task- to "knock off" early, or readjust the scheduled task if necessary.

To those who already have the last FULL Mirolit Halotea Version 1.061 given on 9 November 2011, KEEP IT.

Do not uninstall the FULL Mirolit Halotea Version 1.061 before you install this Mirolit Halotea LITE Version 1.105.

You can install the "new" Lite version while keeping the old & much better version in your PC.

In my opinion, the new version is not better than what you already have. But if you insist that the new Lite 1.105 version is better and want to uninstall the FULL Ver1.061 Halotea, I won't argue with you.

An analogy in car terms - is that last year, the company offered you a Rolls Royce.
This year it is now offering you a "new" Chevrolet Aveo car, which if you think is better, then you are entitled to your opinion.

See the comparison of what the two can do and cannot do.

I'll be honest, usually I don't write to give my opinion on a lot of the products, for some reason or another- but today I had to. First/ foremost I would like to say thank you- I've only been playing with this for 5 minutes, and all ready I'm hooked. Initially I tried putting some of my music to just "lay there-" adding various effects to play with the sound. (I used a grabbed sound clip from a dubstep version of Numb http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsW7j-ISB5w -then I added the rain effect- simple but still sounds awesome!) But I actually figured out some other uses that are very practical to me. I'm constantly working on a million things at one time, so I'm constantly distracted and non-focused on one topic. What I've done is set the scheduler (2 things scheduled so far) the first is to go to my email (I can't print what the message is), and play some grindcore to get my attention in the case that I'm dozing. The next event scheduled is lunch (more "wake up styled" music) and this time I have the music, a message, and the program set to shut off my computer- Fingers crossed that it'll work that way. I know that this program will be even more useful once I actually read the instructions and see what it's capable of!

After trying out the earlier giveaway version, I can offer some useful comments. Though I really want to enjoy Halotea, there are a few operational issues.

For those activating today, you must visit http://mirolit.com/gotd/halolite.php using Internet Explorer. The page seems to render improperly using alternate browsers. It also seems to be inundated by giveaway visitors. Be patient, and try again if it does not render.

Unfortunately I'm not fond of the Ogg Vorbis audio file type, which is Halotea's primary audio type. Depending on the codec & audio card combination, I've noticed some irritating background hiss / garble / crackle - a major problem when you are trying to relax. The Bass DLL engine seems to be in the middle of the pack. On 3 PCs, I can only hear the interference if wearing headphones. For whatever reason, it's really, really bad on one smartphone in particular (speaker or earphone), which is ironic, given that Ogg is a default Android filetype.

Today's install did not work on the machine I actually want to try this long-term on. I got first "Can't load skin. Default skin will be loaded." then "Can't load skin. Please reinstall." Needless to say, that didn't work - XP Pro SP3 auto update with .NET 1 thru 4 - it's a clean (reloaded) older 2 GHz system I've used as a testbed for years. Mind you, there are 2 sound cards in this system - the onboard Realtek AC97 is only used during boot & the 5.1 CM105 becomes the default after Windows start up - could this be the cause of the problem? It was fun reimaging & cleaning up.

The Installation ID used to generate the Activation Key appears to be hardware configuration based. Activated on a docked laptop, program fails to run when laptop is undocked - ends up corrupted somehow. I'm not committing another machine and more time to this experiment.

The install is large and rather scattered, I would rather that skins & audio samples be found under the program directory rather than in multiple application data directories - makes it hard to backup, clean up & manually browse / manage the library.

This concept is excellent for those who want some relaxation (just writing about this is increasing my blood pressure ;). However, I must deem this not ready for prime time given the installation, problematic copy protection scheme, low-visibility colour scheme, sometimes not intiuitive UI, and manageability issues. Switching from Ogg might also be an idea.

@#25: Right-click on an audio=file, select "open with", and then select "choose default program". You can then set VLC as your default player for that kind of audio file (this works for Windows 7, but the procedure is similar for Windows XP).

Nice program. I love some of the environment sounds, especially the last one with the bird. The media player is good too as it can play some codecs which other media players don't. Thanks a lot for that give away! Happy New Year to everyone.

To install, run the set up, and keep your zip file open. Then wait until Microsoft framework 4 finishes to download to go to http://mirolit.com/gotd/halolite.php to get your activation code. But don't click on anything yet. The program will then show you a code in a green dialog box, just copy everything after MHL- , and click on "Get an activation code" to get the code, then paste it in the Entry box of the activation box, and then press Activate. Turn off your program and restart it from the Desktop icon. That should do it!

I simply ADORE this program !! Got it here the last time it was given away...not "Lite". I found it amazingly able to play the sound of a crackling fireplace, AND my Christmas music at the same time, so I was able to get a lovely theme going with the addition of a wmv of a fireplace as a "DreamScape" wallpaper. OOoo !! How lovely !! I have tons of power, and tons of storage space, so I won't go "lite", but this is an amazingly versitile program, and with a little imagination, could take you away to 'your' fondest imaginary relax-zone. LOVE it ! Thank You so much.

I installed it without any problem on Vista 32-bits.
I never had the Activation window. The program started as if it was already registered. Never had the Trial window either.

Will it stop functionning in 14 days?

BTW, you can use Audacity to record sounds with it.
