@Fubar #33:
Quting you:"Vista, and I’m almost certain, XP, do have an option to wake the computer to run a task"
This does not depend on OS but on BIOS. Older hardware, and many visitors still have I'm sure, will not be able to pull the trick.
The requirement is ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) (For support check computer's BIOS as well as Control Panel -> Power Options.)
I do agree with the rest, that is also why I quoted you. #2 an #3 said almost everything that is to be said.

it sez here:
"Zards Softwares is a modern company thats goal is to build high quality software to make using your PC easier and faster. Zards Software was founded in 2005 in Australia and has been working hard to produce software for every day people and techs. We try hard to listen to what people need and want so we can deliver software people like to use. At the moment Zards Software is focused on Cleanse Uninstaller the flagship program for the company. Cleanse Uninstaller is constantly under development to improve its feature base, quality and ease of use Zards Software has other programs in development such as IconMP3 and small mp3 player that sits in the icon tray with right click menu for basic player control and NoMore Tracks an automatic internet tracks eraser. Zards Software strives to be the software people want and like to use so if there are any comments about how our software functions or if there is anything you may wish that our software did contact us and tell us."
...so, in other words, they've been WORKING HARD on stuff that has been made already by others, so they can do the same things too?
what is the point here?

With the scanty information on it's homepage, I get the idea this is sort of a venture into new territory for it's programmer.

It did install, open, and run just fine on my xp machine.

Some things this program lacks, where improvements might make it much more useful to a broader range of people

The interface is too plain. Some people may like that, but most like an attractive interface with plenty of tools, options, etc.

No help files of any kind, nothing to make it easy to understand and figure out how to use for those who aren't computer savvy

Suggestions:
Help files and a suggestion list of programs that this would be useful to use with

More options...what useful tools can be added to this program that windows and vista's task schedulers DON'T have?

Personally I rarely ever use a task scheduler because no matter when I schedule a task, it's always seemed that it ended up that I was doing something else at the time something long and memory-hogging was scheduled to run. For me, it's easier to run something when I know I won't be needing to do much on the pc for awhile because most of the kinds of tasks usually run by schedule are memory hogs that take a long time to complete such as defrags and complete virus scans!

Maybe the developer of this program will do some more comparison research with other similar programs and find a way to turn this one into something outstanding later on.

Seems to me, a lot of commentors are missing the point.
1) The software actually works and does exactly what it says it will
2) Its easy to install and is compatible with XP and Vista
3) It is user friendly and easy to operate
4) Inexpensive when purchased commercially (not the freebie here)
The only negitive comment I can see is that the utility duplicates the built in features within both XP and Vista. However 2000 and Server 2003 do not have the MSConfig option,(could be wrong)and this program if it works on NT environs will be a blessing. The newer operating systems have this program's features already built in, making it unnecessary

I have to thank Gaotd for backhandedly solving some of my problems.I have been having difficulty with my WindowsXP SP3 since I had to reinstall everything again about 2 weks ago. since then I have been getting 2 error msg’s about a problem mscoree.dll add-on and its cousin the computer’s inability to recognize the NETFramework. I finally found a DLL Library to download and replace the mscoree.dll that was invisible and I saw in the comments that the NET Framework was an issue for this download. So, with my newly installed DLL, I could finally download from this fine site for the first time in 2 weeks In the process of Set-up, the GOGOStop program recognized my NET Framework issue, then downloaded and installed it for me. Ironically, the Set up of GOGOStop won't complete for me but you solved a major pain in the butt for me. Thanks, Chela

I downloaded and installed this program. I can see some use for it to automate some tasks and will keep it.
@1- I have been trying to get standard windows task manager to schedule some tasks to execute a day or two from now ... no luck yet!
Would this be the task manager that comes up when you press ctrl+alt+delete ? I will only use MS-XP and below, so maybe this is something Vista has built in .. ??
I use two machines on my desk ,Linux for serious work that needs stability and security, and I use XP for games and toys and all my hobby stuff. I keep my two copies of Vista safely tucked away in a bottom desk drawer .. maybe it will grow up some day and be useful to me.
I rate GoGoStop at 6 of 10.

BTW "desperate programmers" are just like "desperate builders", "desperate Realtors" , " desperate McDonalds counter people" ....Just trying to make a living and get on. Can't really do that for free; ... or do you, #32?

#31, Funkster, Vista, and I'm almost certain, XP, do have an option to wake the computer to run a task (see picture 6 in my comment #11) without using any additional software. While I mentioned PsShutdown to match the features in GoGoStop, it's not something I would ever use. That's what Windows Power Management is for. It's a bad idea to force standby/hibernate. My computer goes to sleep when it's not doing anything, and wakes up when it needs to do something. Unless I analyze running tasks, I generally don't know what it's doing or why it's awake. It can wake up to perform all sorts of tasks, from performing various updates, recording TV, downloading guide updates, etc. It can stay awake to perform maintenance tasks, such as defragmenting the disks. In fact, if I didn't check the disk defragmenter logs, I wouldn't even know that it was working. It's set to perform defragmentation every three days when the computer is idle, and I never see it (also, I normally wouldn't even notice if the disk defragmenter was running).

My primary objection to GoGoStop is that they're charging money for something that's built into Windows, and the Windows version is more versatile and doesn't consume any additional resources.

I don't know what to make of #22, (german)werwölfchen's comment about disabling the XP Task Manager (the link is missing, anyway). While you can replace the Task Manager with numerous alternatives, that's just a matter of personal preference and doesn't save you anything. The Task Manager isn't something I use very often. Windows Task Scheduler should never be disabled, as it's used for many automated (not user-defined) tasks.
