Looking for ftp software that will be able to automatically monitoring ftp or local folders and upload new/modified files from PC to your ftp site or download files from ftp site to local folder by schedule?

FTPGetter is an automated ftp program which is intended to upload or download files between ftp servers and your local or network workstation drives using file masks, i.e. when neither exact file names, nor their numbers are known.

File batch processing using masks will allow you to flexibly adjust list of files that are to be uploaded to the ftp server or downloaded from it. Built-in task scheduler will duly start the tasks that you created.

FTPGetter can work simultaneously with any number of ftp servers using multithreaded processing technology. FTPGetter supports a direct connection to ftp servers, as well as connection through a FTP, SOCKS or HTTP proxy server.

There's programs that do the same tasks better, more efficiently, and are completely FREE.

For those having trouble getting rid of the "15-day trial" message:

Clicking the red "X" in the URH corner only minimizes the program to an icon in the systemtray, and doesn't shut it down fully.

That's why the nag-screen doesn't go away when you open the program up again.

But if you shut down and restart Windows, the next time I opened the program the nag-screen was gone, and the License ID line in the Help/About window showed a real license number.

Hope that helps.

You can download GOTD FTPGetter edition directly from our site http://www.ftpgetter.com/dl/beta/ftpgetter_setup.exe
GOTD license keys http://www.ftpgetter.com/dl/beta/regcode.zip

GOTD license keys installation:

A regcode.zip archive containing two files - 'customer.key' and 'code.key'. The registration instructions are as follows:

1. Run FTPGetter.
2. Press Ctrl+O when in the main window (or in the nag-screen). Pressing this keyboard shortcut will open a folder for the program in Windows Explorer.
3. Unpack the regcode.zip (containing the code.key and customer.key) into the FTPGetter application folder (see point 2).
4. Restart the program. If you use FTPGetter as a Windows service, then just restart the FTPGetter launcher service.
5. To view the license information, open the 'About...' dialog. To do this, select Help on the main menu and choose About.

This License files work only in 2.95.0.35 build. If you update FTPGetter - program return in evaluation mode.

You can use 2.95.0.35 version for non-commercial purpose for free, but if you need use latest updatest - you need order license.

Use this links to purchase FTPGetter 2.95 with a 30% discount – only for $53.09

#20 - Core FTP (FREE for personal use - http://www.coreftp.com/)is indeed an excellent program. And I'm glad that it doesn't monitor my folder activity, etc. Any program that's monitoring will just suck up system resources "just in case" you might upload something. I can click the upload button - and save resources.

If I needed another FTP program I'm not sure I'd try FTPGetter. It seems that lots of others HAVE tried it (or attempted it) and have not had good results. Many times if people can't get a program to work it's because they mis-read the instructions (or didn't read them at all). However this time seems different. Thanks for everyones review comments.

Thanks, this can be useful at times, however a little disappointing seeing the free version limited to only 2.95.0.35 when the current version is already 2.95.0.42, that is a little misleading imho.

I don't know where my previous post went, but it was very positive on this professional-level program. What I forgot to put in was that I would not be upset by a good screensaver tomorrow. I have tried many from lots of sources in the past and kept very few of them, but, hey, you never know, the next one might be a keeper. I just hope and pray that they are free of viruses, adware, spyware, and malware (can I say crapware?) in general, since some screensavers, especially free ones, have given the category a bad reputation. Happy Ides of December!

Using the instructions and download from comment 24, everything worked just like it is supposed to, with no glitches at all. O ye of little faith! Anyway, I am impressed by the look and feel of the program, which is designed with international symbols to ease the language barriers. This is a professional-level program that uses at least three different protocols for file transfer, not just one, since those who need to transfer files a lot may need to use HTTP or SOCKS as well as FTP during any given workday. As a professional-level program, it is well worth the regular asking price, IMHO. Oh, I almost forgot, if you are not yet at the professional level, don't worry, because they put in a rather lengthy tutorial to educate you about all parts of the program.

I dont need this. I have used Winsock FTP and Winsock FTP LE to upload, download, and edit my web page. Works good enough for me. I just dont need FTPGetter. Better than a screensaver for sure, I fergot, tomorrow is probably screensaver day. Please, GAOTD, skip the offer of a holiday screensaver tomorrow. Lot of free ones out there for the holidays. If anything, how about a aquarium screensaver. I would even look at that one.

In Windows XP, place customer.key and code.key in the following directory:

C:\Documents and Settings\[your working directory]\Application Data\FTPGetter

[your working directory] represents the folder that is specifically used by your profile.

You can do this before even running the program for the first time.

@19, lyn, FTP is file transfer protocol, it's basically a method of uploading files to websites, so unless you run your own site you wouldn't use it.

I'm glad to see this application offered, though if indeed alt-ctrl-del is the only way to unload it, that'd be a serious flaw.

This is an ftp automation tool, and not a normal ftp client like many of the abovementioned products. None are currently real alternatives (though all very good options in the client area)

Current state of them:

Leechftp: Unfortunately discontinued (though still downloadable). No automation AFAIK.

CoffeeCup free: No automation (only in $$$ pro)

SmartFTP: Closest thing, has automation, but not as advanced as offering and nags periodically.
FileZilla: Automation coming up soon but not yet there.

I've tried many many times, following the instructions to the T and even rebooting my computer, regardless the key will not take. 15 day trial. BTW I didn't install it as a service and i'm 100% sure the program isn't running.

So while we're at it here's one more ftp client to add to that list.

4. FlashFXP (my personal favorite)

FlashFXP uses a familiar, Explorer-like interface that even the most novice user can master in minutes. It offers features such as drag-and-drop, CHMOD support, SSL/TLS transfer, enterprise-friendly rollout options, firewall and proxy support, strong application encryption, speed limiting, statistics, scheduling, and autoreconnecting. Version 3.4 contains new features, enhancements, and bug fixes, and is an answer to many feature requests from our users. Most notably, FlashFXP v3.4 now includes multi-language support!

#19, FTP stands for "File Transfer Protocol", it is one of the oldest communication "dialects" on the internet, predating HTTP (used by web pages) by over a decade.

#18, While Filezilla is a good client, it lacks the wildcard filename stuff this program advertises.

Another program that does offer that ability (mostly useful for unattended mirroring) is SyncbackSE (www.2brightsparks.com). That program however, is not limited to FTP - I've used it for almost 2 years to mirror files both to a local network and to an offsite FTP. SyncbackSE is also shareware, but at $30 US, it is less expensive than this will be after today's giveaway.

To #19. FTP is described at the http://www.smartftp.com/ site. The site also has tutorials (noticed on the left-hand column). I'm not a computer genius but FTP stand for file transfer protocol and many sites have files to share some legal and some not legal (sometimes the latter is difficult to determine if legally shared or not as many companies provide free software and also patents run out, etc.). Hope this helps explain it.

Also, I appreciated ALL of the remarks today. They seemed informed, mature and non-flammatory or belittling. They also let this vendor know they have some more work to do at least on their presentation of this software.

I will pass on this one today because I'm not computer saavy enough to know how to get myself out of trouble like when I downloaded the Buffer Zone program earlier and had a "heck" of a time trying to undo it and delete it from my computer.

I have installed this program as a normal application (not as a service) and without automatic launch at windows start up (I don't like programs to start up automatically if I don't really need them to be active all the time). I let the installer to start the program right away and after that the nag window appeared. I've chose the Continue button because I wanted to see it before proceeding for further registering steps. It minimised itself in the traybar. I double cliked on its icon and the main widow of the application appeared with a huge delay on the screen, so I had to close it the task manager way... I restart the program, the same nag, then after clicking Continue the main window contained a new item in the menu 10% something. The program worked OK. Therefore, at installation time there is something not quite well, I guess.
When using the X in to close the main window the program minimize to system tray. Right clicking the icon in the system tray brings a menu with the Close option included. To change this behaviour go to Options in the main window and uncheck On close minimize in System Tray option.

I copied the two files to [System_Root]\Documents and Settings\[user]\Application Data\FTPGetter when the application was closed and after restart it was registered. No problems here. I guess that when it is run as a service you have to restart the service to have it registered.

I was surprised to see that the flash demo is from a version of the program that is way different than the actual version, but even so it helped me understanding the way this program work.
All in all this application wroked for me on Windows XP SP2.

Before posting a negative comment here, think about the effort developers make to create a software, and then about their good intentions when making it freely available to us. The complains about price are senseless because we get it free and the reminding of freeware alternatives in the way "we use better freeware before even trying this one" is as bad. The developers give their software to us because they want a fair chance to know how the program performs in real life situations. It's not too much to give them that.

I wish to thank to developers and Giveaway for making this program available.

To register FTPGeter, downloaded from giveawayoftheday.com you need download regcode.zip file (http://www.ftpgetter.com/dl/beta/regcode.zip) from our site http://www.ftpgetter.com/dl/beta/regcode.zip

A zip archive containing two files - 'customer.key' and 'code.key' - is attached to this email. The registration instructions are as follows:

When you hit Control O, it goes to a folder under Documents and Settings {I forget which one], so I unzipped the keys to that one. Then when I launched the program, it froze my computer. After a hard reboot, I coped the keys into ALL the folders, including the one under Program Files, tried again and now it works fine. Still don't know which folder you are actually supposed to copy it to.

And it DOES put an icon in the system tray and when I right-clicked on it, I selected "Close" and it closed.

The key, apparently, is getting the key codes in the right folder.

For #19, FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. It's used to upload or download to your website and/or other FTP [as opposed to HTTP] places on the web.

Unfortunately, I think this program is way to specific to just a very small number of users. Therefore, the number of people who actually download it and try it out will be very small. I'm not sure there is much of a need for this. Correct me if I am wrong.

Registration was a bit confusing, after extracting files to the "Appliation Data" folder opened with Ctrl+O, and "X" out of FTP Getter, the FTPGetter app did NOT close, it minimized/active to the system tray (by the clock). After Right Mouse Click (for menu) on FTPGetter Icon (by system tray clock) and selecting Close (Exit), the application closed. Next FTPGetter application restart, the GOTD Registration was recognized and active! Note the FTPGetter Launcher/Run as a Service option was not selected during this specific install.

The instructions with this download are not complete, but if you do as it says in the readme it is still OK.

Press control-O in the main screen. An exploder window opens.

The 2 .key files from the zip must go therein, in the Application Data folder of the program, not in the program folder as the readme says.

Then you need to quit the program competely, also from the system tray, downright under your screen. After that, restart the thing and it's registered.

Have to agree with the others on this; program looks like it will be useful to me; but I refuse to put up with the fact that it keeps giving me an "evaluation of 15 days" message. I followed the instructions to the T (like I always do/no trouble until now) so I don't know what the trouble is. I was really excited when I saw this available today; now I simply uninstalled and sent an e-mail to the source during uninstall. Thanks giveawayoftheday for trying anyway.

Two things I already hated about this:
- Doesn't register most of the time
- Not possible to quit application once run, it will go back to a system-tray application and from there, can not be exited in any normal way, and has to be ended with the taskmanager (CTRL+ALT+DEL)

App description sounds great... to bad it doesn't work for me.
Installed just perfect but when running the program (not as service) there is a systemtray icon and in the taskbar there is 'FTP Getter' but i don't get to see the main window. ALT+Tab won't work,...

Running WinXP Pro with SP2 (English)..
