The MP3 Duplicate Finder is a useful program that help you to find out and remove duplicate audio files with same music, even if they don´t have the same name, filesize or MP3Tags; files that occupy so unnecessarily storage place on your computer or your server.
It uses the audio fingerprint technology. Audio fingerprints are identifiers for audio files based on the contained audio data. A fingerprint is calculated by examining the music data itself, ignoring the name of the file, the ID3v2Tags, or any other metadata. Audio fingerprinting technology generates a unique fingerprint for an audio file based on an analysis of the acoustic properties of the audio itself. Each audio fingerprint is unique and can be used to
identify a track precisely, regardless of whether any associated text identifiers are present or accurate.
For example, with a digitized song, whether or not the song title, artist name or other related information is accurate or available, TRM recognizes the song. That's because it inteprets the
kind of audio information that humans actually hear.
Remember: Unfortunately with hundreads of thousands of musics the fingerprint algorithm can produce the same fingerprint for different tracks. This is referred to as a TRM collision. It is less probable that this occur than using filename, filesize or mp3tags. But use this at your own risk.
