WOW!! I thought I had kept up with keeping my computer free of junk, but Advanced WindowsCare found thousands of problems and fixed them. Easy interface makes it a snap to use and it also explains the problems so you know what you are doing. Two thumbs up!

Mapio, win xp has a tool to make restore points; don?t you forget it; before install anything, use system restore, allways. If there is a problem, restart pc in security mode, pressing f8, and then, use system restore.

Newbies and novices, don't touch this as it can cause you some serious problems. I'm an experienced user and I fell for their 'feelgood' let-us-do-it blurb. I checked all the items I wanted excluded and it went ahead and repaired them anyway.
Thanks to the comment above re System Restore, I managed to roll back most of the damage but some stuff that is not registry related I had to redo manually.
You have been warned.
