Foxreal program doesn't work on Hulu when I try to dl the Pirates of the Carribean commercial for the newest film!! Can this be fixed by the makers of the program or is it just me or something else entirely? Please let me know if you would like to e-mail me here is my e-mail hollyholinder@suremail.info

After the update and some usage, I now have a positive opinion of 'Foxreal YouTube FLV Downloader Pro', although my prior critical review was apparently censored, so this will seem like my first review.

Foxreal YouTube FLV Downloader Pro is quality software. It supports http, rtmp, rtmpe (including rtmpe w/swf verification!!!). If you do any flash-type downloading, you really should get this software! It has all nearly of the features and interface of 'getflv', but it's free (although upgrades will cost, which is expected).

Hoping that my review is actually posted this time!!

Update from my post # 29 - -

Downloaded the new updated version and it installed immediately after it deleted the 5 minute time limitation version. Did not have to get the code again! Wahoo! Sure am glad of that.

Impressed with their Video Website library on the program's 'home' button. Guess I'll be keeping this and telling folks about it too!

Thanks Foxreal and GOTD! Looks like a winner!

Now that the conversion limitation is removed, I reinstalled the software and I am impressed. This is GREAT software that simply works and is very easy to use. Thanks!

Apparently, the folks at Foxreal have corrected the "unintentional glitch - accidental omission - intentional crippling" that caused the 5-minute conversion limitation. Kudos!
However, another issue of major concern is the observation made earlier that this software automatically downloads and installs potentially outdated or less preferred codecs (Windows Media Encoder Pack). Wish the install would test and ASK permission before futzing around, because anything that tampers with system files that way is a big deal imho, one that prevents me from downloading today's offer.
How about a user-friendly option?: "Would you like an older codec set that might discombobulate your other software or should we keep your existing codec preferences? You may install the licensed Windows Media Encoder Pack directly from Microsoft at this url should you encounter any difficulty with our software."

To add to my post #89. After using this software I gotta tell ya.. I agree with Chris post #88. Hands down this is one of the best tools I have used. Downloads are fast (even with my slow dsl) and conversions that took hours with DVD Flick and multiple other converters are now painless and fast. Took only 20 minutes to convert a 450mb file from flv to DVD vob. Now, that may not be fast to some but, considering my P4 w/HT and 1.5gb ram, that's moving pretty good.

Good for you Foxreal for the software and for the way you have handled the initial problems.

I would add, however, you really need to do something about your MyWOT rating. Alot of users rely on those ratings and for whatever reason your site has received bad ratings and is blocked by MyWOT. I personally will go and give you a good rating. I hope others here will do the same allowing the rating to improve.

Ok. I finally received an email from FoxReal support providing me with the reg code. They were very friendly and the reg code worked fine. I do not believe the problems GAOTD users have been experiencing were intentional. Flukes and issues sometimes happen to all of us. The key question in my mind is how they will handle the situation. I'm not defending the problems just saying we have issues from time to time and it is how we deal with the issues that really matters.

Foxreal’s statement in their email reply says:
“Now you have registered. And GOTD version has a slightly difference with the offical version, there is a time limit for conversion”.

Yet in their post, presently at 81, they are swearing that there is “no time limitation” for their software. WTF?
Foxreal, you are way too foxy. Get real Foxreal.

Ugh this is being offered again? A GAOTD software is a totaly free, without limitation software. It's as if we bought the darn thing. If it works for us and does it's job well then we might consider buying another product. But after the MESS with Foxreal, i'm done. They had their chance, made excuses, and i'm done. Will not be downloading or using their software on any computer.

Thanks GAOTD, in more ways than one! ((Hugs))

I really was interested in this software, especially the downloader. Then, I read it only opens in IE. I have used IE MAYBE a total of 5 times this entire year.

Is there a way to set it to use Firefox? If not, no dice.

You really should consider other browsers if you haven't.

Seems like an excellent program now that the time limitation has been fixed. I have found a few bugs though. When creating a custom profile you can't save it. I clicked on the "save as" button which brings up another window but the "ok" and "cancel" buttons are missing. I tried the bluray ripper trial which also works excellent except that program has the "ok" and "cancel" buttons but when I click "ok" the profile reverts back to original. If the bugs were fixed I would consider buying it but I don't want to change the settings every time I open the program. It would also be nice to have it save the maximized window when closed. Thanks Foxreal and GAOTD.

Just uninstalled this. Besides the earlier "5 minute" issue, it installed Windows Media Encoder Pack which replaced the better codecs I had installed. Foxreal should inform users of this before it installs additional Microsoft software that overwrites codecs.

Free is good. But I no longer trust Foxreal products. They need to be clear what their software installs and make users aware of it.

It seems the app can be used as a general internet browser and this raises a serious security problem. The web pages that are displayed show no signs that they are protected, specially in the case of buying anything. I noticed this when looking at the Discovery Channel and was led by links to purchase DVDs of the series 'Survivorman'. So unless there is a hidden protection for the webpages that I didn't see, I would suggest nobody gets carried away and shops using the app as a browser.

Update: Successfully downloaded an entire episode of Biography off Hulu. Download was at approximate speed of actually watching the video, but at least I now have it on disc to watch at my leisure.

Finally have a program that'll do that (I already use some Firefox add-ons for YouTube and other video grabbing, but I appreciate having one for the more difficult videos).

Works like a charm!

Downloaded. Registered (it's not going to come in the email, guys, there's a hyperlink and registration chain to follow).
Version didn't tell me about any 5 minute limit.

Went to NBC Learns, and successfully swiped a video. This is allowed, normally, but you must also install their proprietary viewer. Now I can just use the Applian player I'm used to.

Now off to Hulu to see what damage I can do...

Thanx, GOTD!

Per the "For developers" section of this site: "Basically, our visitors will be able to download the software product for free, under specific Terms and Conditions, which limit the software usage to non-commercial only, and may also limit software updates and technical support.

The software product will be presented in its full functionality, without any limitations save for those mentioned in Terms and Conditions."
I don't think we'll be seeing any more giveaways from this developer in the future, doubtless the GAOTD team informed them before the giveaway that the software was to be fully functioning... a 5 minute video restriction for conversion is not fully functioning! The developer betrayed the GAOTD team and user's trust with this, they should never be allowed on this site again until they explain why this happened and issue a public apology (at the BARE MINIMUM)!

I don't think this was a "mistake" on Foxreal's part. It's too blatantly "GAOTD" detailed. Otherwise, they wouldn't name the site in the program and it would be more generalized. It's too bad they've tried to sneak and go against Giveawayoftheday rules. I would recommend avoiding giving these guys your personal email, but use a second address of some sort if you feel you need the program.

If they are dishonest enough to try something tricky like that to get your money, then they are sneaky enough to sell your email addy to spammers as well.

Giveawayoftheday has upheld a safe downloading experience, so it's too bad someone may be inadvertently tarnishing their name.

Good luck!

Adding to my former post #58
A Dutch visitor just discovered that there is a difference between converting directly after downloading or doing a seperate conversion ("convert" and "add" without downloading).

I did al my conversions directly after downloading and didn't encounter limitations as stated in #58

But I do get the limitation when I only do a conversion.
I thought this woud be of importance.

Dear GOTD-team, #41:

Something weird is going on. Though I am aware of the problems many people have, encountering a 5 minutes conversion limit as you stated in your post, I do not have that very problem myself.

I did successfully download and convert several youtube- and google-video's already and some of them were about 10 minutes long.

This at least means the software provided CAN work in the way GOTD would expect it to do, but at the same time many people only have a crippled functionality.

I downloaded from the Dutch site (could this matter?), registered as described all without problems. No limited but full functionality on my pc.

The reason for this is not clear to me but I do suspect is has something to do with Vista. My OS is still XP-SP3.

I think even Foxreal could be unaware of these limitation problems.

I understand people will more easily report there problems but I am very much interested in reports about a non crippled full functionality in this case as well (I am not alone, am I?)
Anybody out there in the world having full functionality?

It seemed to want to use IE8 all the time and I do NOT have that on my machine. On Firefox the download helper is good enough and to convert I use the online www.zamzar.com. This software is not intuative (as can be seen from the registration problems) and someone really needs to bang their heads together so that they can see what is really required for video downloader and convertors and not to use free software as a kind of email trawler. Hint go to www.mailinator.com for disposable email addresses. Now to remove this pile of p...s.

This Program was a giveaway some time ago. If you registered then, your email will still be in their database, a good thing because the company keeps your serial codes as well. So if you are receiving a "no code" or an "all ready have your email" you should go threw the forgot my password section, then you can get your serial cold for this giveaway, had to do this myself (I had uninstalled the previous version).

#18: "Will this work on downloading Hulu tv shows?"

I don't believe it will do *all* of them -- some are more protected than others -- but today & last time people are reporting success.

* * *

#23: "I downloaded this last time and found the software great. There was only one drawback, when I start the program up it will automatically load it’s web page on my browser."

I didn't see that with this version -- one of the small improvements I noticed.

* * *

#28: "What I really need to do and was hoping this program would do is to suck the sound out from .flv to .mp3... So I still have one more process with another program..."

Don't know if this will help or not, but FLVExtract is a tiny app that's always worked well for me -- just drag the flv on top of the running app's small window to get video &/or timecodes &/or audio. In many (most?) cases the audio's mp3 already so no need to transcode.

I downloaded VideoGet a few years ago and have been very happy with it, but my version is WAY out of date, but still useful. When i seen the GW for this i had to try it. My experience with installation went just fine and i got my code, yet never got the email with the code. I did notice the 5 minute limitation, and if this is TRUELY a glitch or something unexpected by FoxReal then it should have been solved before offering it to GAOTD. Unfortunately i cannot recommend this software, nor the company to anyone as i've still not received my registration email, i have contacted support and don't expect a reply and the 5 minute limitation on the full "pro" software....just bad all around. Someone messed up and i do not see it as GAOTD's fault...nor mine. Thank you GAOTD for offering yet another excellent piece of software, just wish that the company had done a better job with their software. Shame, i was looking forward to replacing my VideoGet V2.0. :(
