Hello, Myself and a friend downloaded and activated Abyssmedia's Audio Converter plus only a few months ago. What now has me perplexed is that it has now reverted to being a Trial and prompting me to visit the site to purchase the full version. As my copy will now only convert 50% of the source file. The situation is the same on my friend's pc as well.

I am very sure that it did not mention anything about it being a time limited version of the software. I honestly thought that it was a non time limited version of the software. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank You :)

Same thing happened to me when I tried to use it yesterday. Does anyone one else have this problem or a solution?

    Thanks

I have the same problem, it just happened to me also. I started audio converter plus tonight to convert some wma's to mp3s so i can play them in my car player. and it is telling me that i have to go to the Abyss website to buy the full version because mine has turned into a trial.

So i registered here to see if maybe i had done something wrong but it doesnt look like it now after reading that it is happening to everyone.

I thought that whatever was offered on giveaways site was full software. I dont think this is right, maybe someone from abyss can tell me what is going on and help me fix my converter.
I will buy a converter but dont have the money for a while yet.

Can anyone from abyss help? it would be greatly thanked.

Hi people, what's the go with this audio program? i must of missed the part where it cripples itself after 60days or what not to only converting half the audio file.

I appreciate the effort GOTD puts in and i browse this place once in a while to see what is on offer. This is the only title i have downloaded and installed to date. I like to keep a clean box.

Does anyone know if there is a way around this, or is 60 days or there abouts it? Then you have to purchase the program. IMO, this is not the done thing and very unproffessional. I will evaluate a program for several months then if i like it, i will gladly pay for the latest version.

But when a (supposed) free fully functional program auto cripples itself after a short period of time then i for one will give that particular software vendor a miss and go elsewhere as this practice does nothing to me other than serve to lower my opinion of a particular software vendor.

Any input from this software vendor?

Keep up the great work GOTD, i like what you people are doing and am always on the lookout for new upcoming and innovative software that i may purchase the latest version of if i like it's functionality etc.

    Regards Leo

This software does not work. I appreciate GOTD and the vendors too for giving away software but I must say that the abyssmedia (audio converter plus vendor) pretty much misled everyone of us if this software is unusable after 60 (or however many) days. I say this because the vendor probably knew the software would be unusable after sometime and it is hard to believe that the vendor did not know that. GOTD must take some action against this vendor such as suspending all software from this vendor. I say that because I did not download any other audio conversion utilities after audio converter plus thinking that it would work but now I dont have an audio converter software because I put my confidence in audio converter plus and now it does not work.

cdundee007 [Wrote] I say that because I did not download any other audio conversion utilities after audio converter plus thinking that it would work but now I dont have an audio converter software because I put my confidence in audio converter plus and now it does not work.[End Quote]

And that is my dilemma as well, i was very impressed by Audio Converter Plus that i uninstalled my old converter as i felt it was no where near as good as Abyssmedias Audio Converter plus. It did an extremely good job....i no longer have the cd to reinstall my old Audio Converter. And what upsets me is that i did pass up on the other converters....and am now left with nothing. I do feel as though i was mislead intentionally by Abyssmedia, i do blame myself.

So in essence i am down one utility and now no longer have the ability to convert anything. "Next time i am hanging on to my old software regardless."

I should have downloaded all of the converters then i would not be so disapointed as i would have been able to convert my new songs tonight. Soooo does anybody know of any other converters that can convert between the ogg, wma, & mp3 formats atleast.

Nastajia, Your comment about downloading all of the converters offered does solve the problem but it does not make sense to me at least to download and install every software that is offered especially the ones that have similar functionality and clutter my computer. Plus the assumption that a software will breakdown (like audio converter plus) and an assumption that there will be another identical software may not work out.

Oops, I accidentally hit the send post before completing my post. Anyway, one more thing I was going to say to Nastajia is that don't blame yourself because it is not your fault. You and I are the victims here.

  11. The GOTD team are looking into the mysterious un-registration of Abyssmedias Audio Converter - so don't feel that you've been forgotten.

If you are in need of a converter (in the meantime) there are a number of excellent freeware converters (actually I'm sure there are thousands... and it just comes down to "what you prefer to use")

Have a look through these for starters - hopefully you will find one that will get you out of trouble.

(Softdepo actually have a full range of media type tools for FREE)

Thank you for the links BuBBy, :)

I know that giveawayoftheday have not forgotten us. :)

I do not need a video Converter.....only one for my music because i love my music. Anyway of the 3 links that you gave me, would you say that the Softdepo "Free Audio Converter Pro" would be the best one to use for me.

All i want to do is convert between music formats, i do not require anything that does video. They all look very good but i do not know which one to choose now. :)

And should i uninstall Abyssmedia's Audio Converter Plus, or should i leave it on my pc just incase Abyssmedia provide a solution.

PS: Help me choose a Converter, i do not know which one to choose now. :)

    Thank You BuBBy :)

And cdundee007, i do understand your logic in not downloading everything so i do not clutter up my pc, i was just a little upset that i uninstalled my old converter and had nothing left to convert my new music files with after Abyss's converter reverted back to trial ware mode.

  13. Firstly - leave the Abyssmedia program on your PC for now - GOTD might come up with an easy solution for us soon...

You could try the Softdepo Audio Converter - and if you like it... keep it :P

If not, try one of the other Audio Converters. Truthfully they all do basically the same thing - maybe some small cosmetic changes - but despite each of their marketing claims there is not a great deal of difference between them - try it out - if you like the results... keep it. If not, uninstall and try the next in the list.

If you pick the wrong one - your computer will explode. (kidding).

Thanks Bubby. I did not mean to be harsh. It's just that I was frustrated because the software did not work when I needed it most. I will also wait for a resolution on this one. Keep up the good work GOTD.

It has been over 2 weeks now, guy's is there any news on wether a fix is in the works by Abyssmedia or not. I am happy with the first link "AudioConvert" Bubby gave me but am a little concerned with this messege coming up every time i start it up.

[QUOTE]"This program is not free. It is an evaluation version of copyrighted software. If you use it beyond the evaluation period, you are expected to register it with the author. Please check the program's documentation for details."[END QUOTE]

So does this mean that AudioConvert will cease to function after 30 days? Or is just registering it enough to allow it to continue to function.?

I really do like it as it does everything i want it to do. :)

  19. I sent a message to the GOTD Team about half an hour ago - asking for someone to check with abyssmedia if another "patch" is needed (like they did with ISound).

Thank you for all your help BuBBy :) It would not be such a big issue for me were it not for the fact that i uninstalled my old audio conversion program.

I would have restored my old converter using windows system restore bleh blah! But i have had to adopt a routine of flushing system restore "for hidden nasties" then creating a new clean restore point.

But thank you very much for your help. :)

PS: There is one other thing that i would like to mention after reading the other thread. No where within Abyss's Audio Converter Plus is there an option that will give you the option of turning off automatic updates, or makes any mention of it.

    I have checked and rechecked.

Anyway i just thought i would let you know. :)

    Hi BuBBY, :)

Is there any news yet from the GOTD team or AbyssMedia? i am on the last day before my evalution of Audio convert expires.

    Thank you :)

Well it has been over a month now, and it appears that Abyssmedia are not going to address this issue. I will not continue to install and uninstall one audio converter after the other because it is starting to mess up my windows install.

BuBBy i still have Audio Converter plus installed on my pc, i do apologize BuBBy but i honestly think Abyssmedia do not care one tiny bit about this.

It will be a cold day in hell before i purchase anything from Abyssmedia period! If anybody that asks me to recommend a converter then i will make it a point to steer them away from any software by Abyssmedia.

Audio Converter Plus gets a thumbs up from me!
But AbyssMedia get the thumbs down for missleading me and i will be damned if i am going to pay them one red cent!

Leo summed it up best and now my feelings are the same!

My biggest single regret "and i am still regretting it" is that i killed off my old "Fully Functional unrestricted" audio converter program which cost me US $49 in favour of Audio Converter Plus. I would repurchase it but it is missing one feature that Audio Converter Plus has.

So i want to make an well informed choice before purchasing.

If anyone can recommend a good converter that does everything that Audio Converter Plus does then please post a link as i am now needing to buy a converter and am ready to pay for it. "It can not be anything from Abyssmedia as i feel that i was misslead intentionally and have lost $49 worth of software that i can not recover.

I do apologise BuBBy but i am a little upset at the lack of action by Abyssmedia. I did not download Aimersofts DVD ripper but i see they have honored the giveaway terms and have taken steps to rectify the problem.

Thankyou for all the help BuBBy, :) it is really appreciated....but in the end you have no control and it appears now as though Abyss are sweeping this one under the carpet.

Any recommendations on a very good converter would be appreciated, i will now repurchase another converter to replace the one previous to Audio Converter Plus.

    Thank You :)

    Thank You :)

Nastajia I personally don't use this program for my conversion needs. I have many friends that do and love it.

    That said have a look at their forum here;

    That information should help you.
