  4. I am still getting the "giveaway expired/over" error.

amlt227 / patsews - I think the problem is with the activation server only for this giveaway - I managed to since activate the game giveaway without any problems.

If you could check that you can successfully activate the game giveaway (or activate it again - if you have already done so) - that would indicate the problem is not at your end - and that the issue is localised to the "AVS DVD to Go 2" Giveaway.

(There is no need to install the game if you don't want to - just getting as far as the "game setup screen" or "AVS DVD to Go 2" setup screen - is enough indication that the activation is working ok).

This is so stinky ridiculous. I have been trying to get this to activate for almost two hours!!!! I have downloaded 3 times from GiveAwayOfDay site and once from AVS website. I get the activation code each time, but when I enter it, "I get Unable to establish connection to the server to complete registration. Please check your internet connection and try again." (Thanks ankt227, I copy & pasted from your post)

There is no problem with my internet connection. This was a program I was really anxious to try.

  7. We will look into the problem with activation, the software will be available for download for 24 more hours, so don’t worry, you will be able to get your copy.

Found this hiding in the comments section - thought I'd let everyone else in the forums know (who are having technical problems or questions)

  8. Does anyone know where the software is "available for download for 24 more hours"?

Maybe I'm going blind... I went here where there is a message in red:

If you have problems with activation, please redownload the whole package from our web-site.

    Then just below that:

This software was available as a giveaway on April 20, 2007, this giveaway is not available any more. You can download the trial version of this software at
    http://www.avs4you.com/AVS-DVDtoGO.aspx

Which only has version 1.5 not the 2.0 beta.

Why am I spending so many hours jumping through hoops trying to download and activate beta software? Beats the heck out of me.

I had the same trouble last night trying to connect to the (presumably AVS) server, but I had kept a copy of the activation key. This morning, long after the normal deadline for the giveaway to be over, I was able to run the program, enter the registration key, and then got a message saying that the program was now registered.
So, if you have the program installed and still have a copy of the key, you may be able to get your copy fully registered.
I know this won't help those who haven't managed to get the download, but it might help some.

    From the comments page:-

26 I have converted an .flv file that works fine on my Motorola V3xx, unlike the software from the other day (VideoGet- the converted files kept crashing on my phone and the files were much larger so I uninstalled it).

One issue, the program doesn’t close properly on my system I had to use task manager to force it to shut down WinXP SP2.

    So far a good program

200 I got home from work and read through this then downloaded the suggested update, now I’ve got program x 2.

The registered one crashes, the unregistered one works well but puts big red writing across the converted video.

    Now wtf do I do???

Again registration did not work, what started out with great promise failed miserably.

    [Don't post keys]

This key says registration was a success but program remains unregistered.

Uninstalled and now I am loathe to try more products from this source.

I got an email reply giving me a link from AVS, now I have the software working again.

It does a good job for what I want it for i.e. converting youtube clips to 3gp to watch on my phone.

I look forward to an update to the full version.
