FREEWARE Games (all types)

(8 posts)

  1. A Great variety of Free games from Spoonbill Software!

    • Card Games
    • Puzzle Games
    • Logic Games
    • Apple 2 - Remakes
    • Action Games

Also something unique - games developed especially for vision-impaired and blind players.

    - Note: these games are not downloaded but sent via Email. Ian Humphreys (the game programmer) asks, "please allow up to four days for delivery", as he reads and replies to each email personally.

Ian also notifies users when he updates a game that they have been sent in the past.

(I shouldn't have to say it, but Ian doesn't send out spam - I should know, I've been on his mailing list for years).

Besides Freeware games, I also know some free RPG games as it is online and you get to meet real players. Also because it is always updated by the companies so it would have alot of different kinds of things you would get to do in the game.

I always say, beware of far east MMORPGS (eg. Maplestory), they have a habit of using Gameguard as an anti-hack / anti-cheat measure, and its a nasty piece of work that disgrees with many security products as it behaves like malware, running even when the application is not.

    Softnyx also use it.

It is argued endlessly, but Nprotect gameguard behaves in a similar manner to a rootkit, is without doubt "dirty" in its installation, and has been noted to have security issues that were never confirmed as cleared.

I will never install anything that uses it.

BuBBy! what a great link! I truly appreciate the heads-up on games for the visually-impaired; a couple of friends and family members will be glad to know they exist, too.

I'll tell the folks at the VA about them, too. Many older vets (and now younger vets) are housebound recipients of free computers and software, donated to enable participation and interaction with society. Not every VA facility can afford this extraordinary approach to healing, and some simply are not connected to charities that can afford to help. I will pass this information on with credit to you.

A spiffy Navy salute to you, BuBBy!

  5. http://www.1980-games.com/us/

Web versions (java based emulator) of classic games (1980s) when gameplay meant everything (in the days when a game couldn't rely on graphics or sound to disguise the fact the game was rubbish).

I find it hard to believe I was spending a fortune playing these games, years before some of my current gaming friends were born. (I swear - it's like it was only yesterday).
