   Has anyone had something like this happen? Lately, when I click on the download link, my browser starts making copies of the GOTD tab really fast. The only way I can stop it is to close Firefox. When I reopen it, the tab-making has stopped but I have a bunch of tabs to close (the highest number so far is 65). At first I thought it was a fluke related to one download, but now it's happened two or three more times. This last time was when downloading IObit Malware Fighter. Last time was the NTFStoFATWizard (I think--I have a terrible memory).

   This is a new laptop-bought in Jan this year. I use Firefox 21.0 and Windows 8 64-bit version. Not sure what other info would be helpful. I've been downloading GOTD software, and it just started happening with this computer.

   Anyone got any ideas? Thanks! nancie

   Three things to try:
   1) Follow the instructions here: Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems
   2) Update all your add-ons and try again (the above reset also closes all web pages)
   3) Disable all add-ons and try again. Re-enable one at a time until you find the problem.

   Since version 21 became available May 14th my guess is a problem with one your add-ons but try the reset first. If none of that works then you might want to go back to Version 20

   I think what I'd try in that situation is downloading & using the portable version of F/Fox from portableapps.com to point to where the problem lies... If the portable version works OK you could try the reset already posted, or remove every trace of the installed Firefox & re-install it -- if the portable version doesn't work I'd look more at Windows itself.

   I've had something similar happen [though it opened pages in the same tab, cascading] with the foxlingo plugin and google page translate...
